Chapter 95 Yang Wei Misjudged?
95 Yang Wei Misjudged?
A cold pair of red eyes looked up at the ceiling.
His Soul Sense had caught on to the man standing above it leisurely as his grey ancient robes flowed in the wind. His mom was sleeping next to him while his hands instinctively guarded her. "Fellow Dao Seeker, you seem to be doing something shady atop my house." Han Li's cold voice rang out from inside, and Yang Wei's clenched hands loosened. fr(e)ewebnov(e)l.com
With a cold smile, Yang Wei asked calmly, "We both don't want to get the Power Born and the other Evolved in any of this, do we? your little secret would be out then."
He had already done his due diligence and knew nobody knew about Han Li being an Evolved. He also knew that Han Li was just eighteen years old. An eighteen-year-old Evolved?
He could understand why Han Li wouldn't want that secret out of his pocket for the rest of the world to scrutinize.
'I don't think this is our best option,' the voice inside Yang Wei spoke, but she knew this was the most optimal route at this point.
Yang Wei smirked and looked down at the ceiling.
"You certainly seem to have a lot of secrets yourself," Han Li's even colder voice echoed, filled with indifference.
At the same time, he also sent a transmission to Liyue and Li Yao in the next room.
"Well, it's always fun to talk with equals. Haha, we are both intelligent people. Why don't we have a deeper talk?"
Han Li looked sideways at his mother and then sighed inside.
Others might not have understood what had happened earlier, but he could understand clearly. He was deep in some kind of mess.
Heart of Chaos.
A technique that only a Transcendant Stage cultivator could use, the ability to overpower or confuse other Hearts of Cultivations. At its best, it could destroy someone's mind and make them a cripple as long as the heart was weaker than the caster's.
He knew it; he once possessed the same level of powers, after all.
'Even though it is relatively weak for some reason.' Han Li's mind was cold and calloused, unworried too. There was no way an actual Transcendant, one of the leaders of the Great Sects, would come here to mess with a junior like him for no reason.
That could only mean one thing, and that was: Yang Wei had methods that only Transcendants are supposed to have. novelbuddy .com
'Oh Bone King, is this the secret that led to you becoming a Transcendent without an Orb? You certainly are sending yourself to my lap.'
He was unworried.
If the person was that capable, such negotiations wouldn't be happening.
The only thing that worried Han Li was how Yang Wei had gotten inside the Starlight Zone without anyone else catching onto him. An Evolved was protecting the peripheries at all times, after all.
"What do you want to do?" Han Li asked, sounding worried, "I don't want to involve my family in whatever you're trying to pull me into. What about we go some distance away?"
Yang Wei's pale eyes shined.
'I have a bad feeling about this, Yang Wei; always be 100% focused when dealing with someone like this. He is probably acting naive.'
Yang Wei nodded and walked on the roof. Han Li's cold gaze roamed as the footsteps moved to the roof's edge.
'He is about to jump,' Han Li thought, walking towards the room's door. But he didn't go out; breaking the thatched roof to enter this room wasn't impossible.
Even though if Yang Wei dared to do that, the commotion would become obvious, and soon, Evolved would be coming from all sides—Han Li didn't want to take risks if by chance Yang Wei was going to do that for some psychotic reason, Yue Li would get into danger.
But his eyes kept shining mysteriously.
In some people's case, only considering their rationality would be a stupid act. Especially when the option of taking his mom or the other two women hostage remained.
In his Soul Sense, Han Li saw Yang Wei's figure land on the ground without a sound like a small piece of bone and his heart slightly tightened as he walked out of the room and sprinted towards the outside. His soul sense was locked onto Yang Wei and Yang Wei knew it, thus he didn't move and waited for Han Li to come out.
The door to the house opened with a click and Han Li closed it behind him as he finally had a line of sight with the enemy. His cold eyes deepened a layer in its coldness.
Yang Wei smiled mysteriously. "Heart of Chaos," Han Li remarked.
Yang Wei's smile faltered.
Han Li's tone was rather calm but he was cautious enough to ask the people inside whether they were all right using the 'Sensational Barrier.'
He was confused, if so, he had to confuse his opponent even more. That way, in the chaos amidst both of their confusion, he would have a chance to analyze what was going on.
Yang Wei's pale eyes became deadly. "You know what a Heart of Chaos is?"
He had expected the opponent not to know.
Even normal Power Borns didn't know it, how did an Evolved?
That was why he boldly went atop the roof and attempted to confuse Han Li's 'Dao Heart.' If he succeded, he could either kill Han Li outright without any noise or touch Han Li once to trigger The Spirit inside his mind's mirror's power.
He would have a 24/7 eye on Han Li if he could do that.
But Han Li's heart seemed to have grown even stronger in the last few days after he used the mirror and her confusion power didn't work on him at all.
Instead, the only one affected was his mother, who had a much weaker heart.
He had expected to run away easily if the trick didn't work but Han Li's soul sense was larger than he expected and immediately surrounded him—but that also meant Han Li was as talented as himself; a sacred talent.
They glared at each other and a deep silence settled on them.
"Why are you aiming at me?" Han Li asked.
"The last time you scanned me with your Soul Sense without my permission, I didn't like that. I am here for revenge." Yang Wei smiled again.
At least, Han Li wasn't bold enough to bring the people of Starlight Clan into this, which meant he was adamant about staying hidden. His guts were right, it was the best choice to come here.
Being cautious all the time about some random Evolved was stupid.
If he could touch Han Li, it would be even better.
Both of their Soul Senses focused on each other and contracted to focus only on each other, anything outside was pointless at this point. Only both of them mattered, one can die or kill anytime.
Han Li suddenly sighed with a smile and asked, relaxing his seemingly taut self, "Why didn't you take my family hostage?"
"Why didn't I take them as hostage?" Yang Wei's eyes suddenly widened. At the same time, his heart skipped a beat.
It had been some time since The Spirit spoke anything.
'Something is wrong…'
The black tip of a sword penetrated his back and gently went through it as he was startled. His skin that was so tough seemed like mere wood as it went in.
Blood leaked from the side of his mouth and he gritted his teeth.
He looked back to see who was using it but no one was, it floated in the air without anybody's help as the sword shifted in his stomach.
"How?! You didn't use any magic…" he said but stopped and breathed heavily. His glare grew menacing as his skin transformed into the color of bone.
Han Li's cold eyes looked at him indifferently.
[Low-Level Magic Power, Fantasy Inducement: An ability to make others briefly forget something by a lack of attention by uniquely inducing their lust.]
He had used that to make Yang Wei forget about the hostage thing altogether.
It was a small trick that always worked in these kinds of scenarios, even though he had no control over what the enemy forgot briefly.
Along with the 'Sensational Barrier' talent that completely sealed Yang Wei's senses and made contact with anyone else impossible without him moving out of Han Li's soul sense or using his own soul sense to act protectively.
"I knew somebody was talking to you," Han Li smirked calmly as Yang Wei pulled out the sword from his back with gritted teeth.
They were both now exactly about 7 meters apart.
Soul Sense could neither sense the sword nor could its sharpness aided by a Dao Crystal's energy be blocked with Evolved people's skin, even if they were Transformation Path Cultivators.
But as the sword left and left behind a hole, Yang Wei straightened his back and the hole was closed by a bone-like membrane, soon enough, healing.
Han Li's face became rather disappointed. "Transformation Path bodies are quite something," he said.
Yang Wei on the other hand had a really bad expression as the woman in his mind spoke finally, filled with disbelief, 'He seems to be able to use Magic Powers without any chants, moreover, it is fluid enough… it almost seems as if he is using another of his limbs. Be cautious, this is growing out of hand. Cover your body with your Soul Sense, and act as if he is always attacking.'
Yang Wei was also a bit frightened in his heart. 'The sword in my hand is nothing ordinary either, it is so sharp.'
Han Li looked coldly at the sword, which suddenly twisted powerfully to one angle, breaking the bones in Yang Wei's wrist as it broke free and flew back to Han Li's side.
"I am in a position I can't kill you," Han Li said indifferently.
Having a Transformation Path Sacred Body… If Han Li tried to kill him, it would create a lot of commotion and it was even unsure whether he could kill him easily when only one time Yang Wei coming at least a meter close to him would spell the end for him.
It was the problem with having a weak body.
"Why don't we negotiate?" he took the sword in his hand and put it on his shoulder.
Hope this clears things up.
