Chapter 143: Roya and Ace

Chapter 143 - Roya and Ace

Mister Island, deep in the Southern Sea.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

Marine warships relentlessly chased a pirate ship, explosions of seawater erupting all around it. It was a deadly game of cat and mouse, with the pirates desperately trying to escape.

"It's the Spade Pirates!" a sailor yelled, fear evident in his voice.

"Bombard them!" another shouted, eager for a fight.

"Let's show them the terror of G-5!"

Commodore Overhead, in charge of the operation, barked orders at his men, pushing them to pursue the Spade Pirates with everything they had. At the same time, he contacted the powerful 11th Division.

"Roya Boss," he reported, his voice tight with excitement, "we've found the Spade Pirates near Mister Island and are engaging them!"

"Hold your ground, don't get too close," came the stern reply. "That guy is more than you can handle. We're coming to support you."

"Understood!"

Ka-cha!

Overhead Commodore hung up, a wide grin spreading across his face.

He couldn't believe their luck! The Spade Pirates had taken the bait so easily. Usually, this "Den Den Mushi Fishing Tactic" worked only once every ten tries.

Still, caution was key.

He'd wait for Roya Boss to arrive. Playing it safe was always the best option. After all, picking on the weak and avoiding the strong was how they survived in this dangerous world.

"Brothers," he announced, "maintain your distance!"

"Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!" the crew responded, relieved.

The warships quickly slowed, keeping the pirates in sight but out of harm's way.

On the deck of the Spade A, chaos reigned.

The crew frantically steered their ship, dodging the relentless bombardment from the Marine. Only when they had finally pulled back to a safer distance did they breathe a collective sigh of relief.

"Change course! Head to Mister Island!" the helmsman ordered.

"Understood!"

With the warships still hot on their heels, there was no time to relax. Plus, they needed to reach Mister Island to recharge their Log Pose and replenish their supplies.

Hiding the ship in a secluded cove, using the island's confusing terrain to lose the Marines, was their best bet. A direct fight would be suicide. Taking down one warship would only bring more.

The crew shot angry glares at Ace, their captain.

"I told you it was a trap!" one of them grumbled.

"I'm sorry, my bad," Ace replied, bowing his head in genuine apology.

The crew could only sigh in resignation. Similar situations had happened countless times, yet their captain never seemed to learn.

"Fine, let's just land on the island," a weary voice conceded.

----

Half a day later, the 11th Division warships arrived at Mister Island.

Roya, looking sharp in a black suit and sunglasses, led a group of officers dressed in similar attire, resembling a dangerous gang.

"Fire Fist Ace is on this island!" Roya announced, his voice carrying authority. "Spread out!"

"Yes, sir!"

Hundreds of Marines immediately swarmed the island, brandishing Ace's bounty poster and questioning the residents one by one. The locals, eager to avoid trouble, were surprisingly cooperative.

As long as Ace was on this island, it was only a matter of time before they found him.

"Split up," Roya instructed before heading into the town with his adjutant. Finding someone was a tedious task; he'd leave it to his subordinates. He just needed to wait for the results.

"Lu Yun, what's special about this island?" he asked.

"Senior, there's a famous spicy restaurant here that specializes in 'Soul Severing Pepper' dishes," Lu Yun replied. "They say the food is incredibly spicy and delicious."

"Good, we'll wait there."

Soon, they arrived at the Spicy Restaurant.

Roya sat down at an outside table, ordered some of their signature dishes, and frowned, lost in thought.

He wasn't worried about arresting Ace. He'd do what he needed to do when the time came. It wasn't that that was bothering him.

No, it was another problem entirely.

His area of operation was too small. The G-5 Branch was located at the entrance to the New World, so they only encountered rookie pirates just entering the Grand Line.

Even when they ventured out, they were limited to Thunder God Island, Dressrosa, and other nearby islands --less than a fifth of the New World.

Catching a Supernova with a bounty of over 100 million took half a year! At this rate, who knew how many years it would take to get promoted to Vice Admiral?

The real problem was that the truly notorious pirates rarely lingered in the entrance area; they all headed deeper into the New World.

But he couldn't leave G-5 too far behind.

Resupply and support were important, but Headquarters wouldn't allow him to run wild. The New World was the territory of the Four Emperors, and clashing with them without permission was strictly forbidden.

Entering their territory was considered an act of war, and a Rear Admiral like him couldn't bear the responsibility.

Ultimately, the Marines' main goal was to maintain stability, not eliminate all pirates. Otherwise, they wouldn't have driven them all into the New World in the first place.

If the G-14 Branch Fortress in the central New World was completed sooner, things would be much easier.

"Hoo~ So spicy!"

Lu Yun slurped down the Soul Severing Pepper Pasta, her face bright red, beads of sweat rolling down her neck and disappearing into her cleavage.

Despite being clearly overwhelmed by the spice, she didn't stop eating.

The spicier it was, the more she craved it.

Roya shook his head with a smile and picked up his own knife and fork, ready to enjoy the meal.

He enjoyed spicy food, but the Marines' meals rarely included it, usually consisting of sweet, high-calorie meats.

"Hoo~ It's really spicy!"

After just one bite of the noodles, sweat beaded on Roya's forehead.

Powerful!

"So spicy, so delicious!"

A familiar voice exclaimed nearby.

"Hmm?"

Roya turned his head, surprised.

It was Ace!

"How can it be so delicious?!"

In the blink of an eye, Ace had devoured an entire plate of Soul Severing Pepper Pasta.

Apparently overwhelmed by the spice, Ace threw his head back and breathed a massive plume of fire, laced with the fragrant aroma of Soul Severing Pepper.

It easily reached over ten meters high!

The shop owner and customers were stunned. They'd never seen anyone breathe fire from eating spicy food before.

"Boss, another serving! No, ten more servings of Soul Severing Pepper Pasta!" Ace yelled, holding his knife and fork with anticipation. "It's the most delicious thing I've ever eaten!"

Then, he noticed Roya watching him with a smile.

"Hmm???"

A question mark appeared above Ace's head.

Soon, realization dawned, and his face lit up with joy.

New novel chapt𝒆rs are published on ƒгeewebnovёl.com.

"Roya!"

"Yeah, it's me."

Roya stood up, amused. He couldn't find Ace when he was actively looking, yet they bumped into each other while eating. Was this luck?

Lu Yun asked in surprise, "Senior, do you know Fire Fist Ace?"

"Yeah, we go way back."

Roya approached Ace, looked at his happy face, and sighed. "Do you remember what I said when we parted?"

"When we parted..."

Ace's face visibly paled as he recalled the past.

He remembered.

"'I'm a pirate now, you're a Marine. We're enemies!'"

"That's right."

Roya nodded slightly. "Are you planning to surrender quietly, or do I have to beat you up and take you back?"

"Who would surrender quietly?!"

Ace shouted, confidently adjusting his hat.

"I've gotten stronger! This is the perfect opportunity for a rematch! I was so bummed after losing to you last time!"

"Alright, let's find a new spot then."

Roya started walking out of town. The crowded streets weren't suitable for a fight; innocent people could get hurt.

He didn't have any mixed feelings about this. Given Ace's crimes, Vice Admiral Garp would need to vouch for him to avoid a death sentence. If they waited until Ace joined the Whitebeard Pirates, there would be no room for negotiation.

Without hesitation, Ace followed.

He had been looking forward to meeting Roya again!

And finally defeating him!
