Chapter 103.3: A Gathering Between Sisters, Jiangzhuo’s Wedding (3)

Du Xiaoli reached out to hold Han Mingxiang’s hand, saying, “Princess, if your life there isn’t good, I’ll definitely come bring you back!”

“Mm, I’ll try my best to be happy. If I’m unhappy, I’ll wait for you to come get me!” Han Mingxiang held Du Xiaoli’s hand. When they both turned their heads and saw each other’s faces flushed red from the cold, they laughed.

Du Xiaoli’s face was hit with a large glob of snow, the size of exactly half her face.

“Liuxia……” Du Xiaoli sat up, wiping the snow off her face, and saw Ji Liuxia doubling over with laughter.

“Hahaha, no matter how I try, I can’t build the ‘snowman’ you described. I was thinking this snow can’t be wasted, so I’ll give it to you hahaha!” Ji Liuxia said as she laughed.

“Watch how I’ll retaliate!”

Du Xiaoli picked up snow from around around her, molding it into one glob, and then threw it at Ji Liuxia. Not wanting to be left out, Han Mingxiang also formed a ball of snow and threw it at the nearest person. And so, a second round of snowball fighting began.

After having enough of snowball fighting, Ji Liuxia insisted for Du Xiaoli to build a snowman so she could see what it looked like. Du Xiaoli called Fu Yalan and Meng Jiangzhuo over and together, the five of them built a big snowman. When they were done, Du Xiaoli went to find a carrot and broom to accessorize the snowman.

“Wow, so this ‘snowman’ looks like this!” Ji Liuxia marveled, seeing the completed snowman. “But why did you stuff a broom in her hand– you want her to clean up?”

“Pfft!” Everyone was amused by Ji Liuxia’s words.

Du Xiaoli saw the broom in the snowman’s hand and thought of the legend from her previous life, laughing. “If this snowman is you, I can consider having you clean the courtyard.”

Ji Liuxia looked at the courtyard that had been turned into a mess during their amusement. She stuck out her tongue, saying, “I don’t want to.”

“I knew you wouldn’t want to,” Du Xiaoli said, “Come on, let’s go in and play mahjong.”

Upong hearing the word ‘mahjong,’ everyone excitedly started to go inside.

“Sigh, whenever we are with Xiaoli, our composure and everything disappears. What is this about?” Meng Jiangzhuo observed with a smile.

“This is called ‘what is close to cinnabar turns red and what is close to ink turns black.’ She herself has no composure in private, so when we are with her we naturally have no composure.” Ji Liuxia snatched up a tile, shouting, “Hah, I have a winning hand!”

Du Xiaoli was next to Han Mingxiang. When she heard Ji Liuxia’s words and saw her complete lack of composure, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes. She was clearly the one that had no composure, okay?!

Their little group played mahjong until dinner. Because Han Mingxiang and the other girls had to return, they ate a simple early dinner, made up of a few casual, random dishes made by Du Xiaoli.

Although it was casually and randomly made, compared to average cooking, it was still of a very high caliber.

After eating dinner, before everyone had to go, Meng Jiangzhuo looked at them, saying, “You all must come see me off when I get married.”

“Of course, we’ll all be there. Don’t worry!” Ji Liuxia said firmly.

“Mm.” Meng Jiangzhuo hugged each and every one of them before stepping onto her carriage.

Soon after, Fu Yalan and Ji Liuxia also left.

Han Mingxiang looked at Du Xiaoli, and said, “I’ve already spoken to the Emperor about the marriage sendoff, he agreed.”

“I know. Last night my father already told me,” Du Xiaoli replied.

“I don’t think I’ll be able to leave the palace on the day of Jiangzhuo’s wedding. I will have someone send gifts over, and when the time comes, apologize to her on my behalf,” Han Mingxiang said.

Meng Jiangzhuo’s wedding was only two days away from her own wedding. The Emperor and the others definitely wouldn’t let her go outside.

Du Xiaoli nodded.

“Then I’ll wait for in the imperial palace.”

When Han Mingxiang finished speaking, she got into her carriage and left.

After everyone had left, Du Xiaoli looked around at her courtyard that suddenly felt cold and empty, and she said, “Have someone clean up.”

After the warmth of gathering and then separating, there was a deep-seated despondency.

The snow melted and fell again. Without Old Madam Du being there, Du Xiaoli hardly left her courtyard aside from visiting Du Yunhan and Du Xiuheng’s courtyard.

Until the 19th day of the 11th month.

It was still early in the day when Du Xiaoli left the Prime Minister’s manor, arriving at the Meng Manor just after dawn.

The Meng Manor was filled, both inside and outside, with red lanterns. Although it was still dark outside, the entire Meng Manor was brightly lit.

“Greetings Princess Anle, my Miss said when Princess arrives, to go straight to her courtyard. Princess, please follow me.”

Right as Du Xiaoli exited her carriage, a maid greeted her.

“Okay.” Du Xiaoli was about to step into the manor when she heard the sound of a carriage turning around the corner. When she turned back to look for the source, it just happened to be Ji Liuxia’s carriage, so she stopped and waited.

Ji Liuxia stepped off the carriage, and seeing Du Xiaoli, she went forward to hold her hand, saying, “Xiaoli, you’re so early. I thought I would be the first one here!”

“Let’s go, Jiangzhuo-jiejie wants us to go find her,” Du Xiaoli said.

“Mm, let’s go in.”

Du Xiaoli and Ji Liuxia arrived at Meng Jiangzhuo’s courtyard. Seeing all of the boxes outside her courtyard, they appeared to be Meng Jiangzhuo’s dowry.

“Princess, Miss Ji, you guys are here. My Miss has been waiting for you for quite some time.” Seeing them, Meng Jiangzhuo’s maid bowed.

“Is Jiangzhuo-jiejie ready?” Du Xiaoli asked as she went in, seeing Meng Jiangzhuo making final touch-ups in front of her mirror.

All she could see was Meng Jiangzhuo in a fiery red wedding dress. Her hair was coiled up, with a delicate yet luxurious phoenix crown sitting on her head. Two nannies were helping put on her makeup.
