Chapter 110: Beyond The Edge: Players
The Holy Knights stared at the legend like a madwoman.Peters, pale by nature became as white as a snowflake.
Elizabeth stabbed her sword into the monster’s body and pointed at Dora with her thumb.
"This freak keeps killing my mounts, I need something harder."
"... Some...Thing?"
"Yeah, get back to work, there’s no time to chat!"
He flinched and looked at his comrades who once again, showed their support by ignoring him.
He groaned and crouched.
His aura gathered in his arms and suddenly, he stood up and launched a huge energy blast.
The energy shaped like an oriental dragon and swirled towards the Rift.
"Nice!"
Elizabeth appeared behind Peters, startling him.
She grabbed him like a bag and jumped on the energy dragon.
"Are you always that violent?!"
"Couldn’t be for too long, stop whining!"
She drew her sword, her energy gathering.
Peters immediately increased the energy of the dragon in preparation for the impact, and just as he feared, Elizabeth delivered a single blow that transformed the demographics of the sky.
Hundreds of monster corpses fell to the ground.
The Holy Knights showed a smile and returned to this celestial theater.
Midgard watched the scene, a little surprised, then frowned and turned to Candace.
The dean in her bubble managed to stop the bleeding and was also focused on the battle in the sky.
She flinched and lowered her gaze when she noticed a strange energy nearby.
Midgard, her mouth glowing red, was right beneath.
"What the..."
"Voracity"
A red flash vaporized the bubble and the dean fell, landing in Midgard’s arms.
Candace rubbed her head in pain and suddenly felt a warm energy covering her leg.
"Midgard?"
"You shouldn’t be deprived of the ability to run in these moments."
"Ah... Yeah... uh? You... You can grow back a leg?!"
To her surprise, her bare leg covered in light grew in size.
Midgard nodded.
"Creation magic and healing, someone taught me that when used together they could do miracles on the human body."
Her gaze was filled with calm and melancholy, and Candace quickly understood who she was referring to.
"Don’t worry, we will get him back, just don’t synchronize your soul."
She looked at the sky with a smile.
"I hate to say this, but we can benefit from this Sin’s nature. This idiot is blinded by the numbers, and with everyone’s work, we have a..."
*BOOM*
A gigantic explosion in the sky startled them.
They raised their heads and noticed an abnormality in their surroundings.
The swarm of monsters had ceased to fall.
Everyone stopped moving and kept their gaze on the vortex.
Elizabeth and Peters landed a little farther away, Dora on top of another building.
They watched, confused the origin of the explosion, although, What concerned them the most, was the fact that there was no explosion, but a sound from another world.
Candace with a worried expression tried to grab onto Midgard’s shoulder to stand up, but the snake woman held her so firmly that she couldn’t move.
"Hey, I think it’s enough, let me... Midgard?"
She saw the gaze of the young girl and realized that something wrong was happening.
Midgard was frozen, her mouth wide open and her eyes shaking, staring at the Rift.
Farther away, Agharita fell to her knees, a desperate expression on her face.
The Holy Knights didn’t even try to reach her, because this time, even they could feel it.
Dora frowned and several blue particles covered him.
On the ground, the guild members looked at the sky, worried at first, and gradually, fear overwhelmed them.
The purple sky became even darker, the light that lit the streets in previous days disappeared, and the sound of the raging wind got devoured by a single sound almost able to take the soul out of those who heard it.
The town darkened, but the dark moved slowly forward, leaving the usual light behind and engulfing the light in front, in a slow but gigantic movement.
"My God..." A guild member said as he dropped his weapon.
The clouds of the Rift were gradually tearing apart, revealing gigantic black claws.
One by one, every fighter from each faction let go of their weapon.
A large part of the purple clouds faded, revealing black wings of monumental scale.
The tip of Elizabeth’s sword touched the ground, as she looked in disbelief at the thing released by the Rift.
Finally, the head of the thing emerged from the cloud, a gigantic head, armed with fangs, revealed itself in broad daylight.
Candace’s strength vanished, the only muscles that she managed to move serving to whisper.
"How... is it... possible? What... is that?"
Midgard gritted her teeth.
"The king of dragons, Fafnir, a Player."
In the skies above the city, a gigantic dragon with black and red scales soared slowly. Its size was so immense that it loomed over different parts of the city at the same time, its shadow casting an eerie and ominous presence. It circled like a sinister vulture, its red eyes glinting without pupils.
On the ground, nobody moved. The people watched in disbelief as the dragon flew over them. They refused to believe that such a creature could exist, let alone be an enemy.
Suddenly, the dragon stretched its wings, causing a gust of wind that swept through several buildings. The wind was so strong that it seemed to be a raging tornado. It reached the Royal Academy and began to rotate.
As the dragon lowered its colossal head towards the city, it destroyed the tops of many buildings with a single move. The sound of shattering glass and crumbling walls echoed throughout the city causing panic and chaos.
The guild emissaries, who were on the ground rushed to higher buildings to avoid the falling debris. But as soon as the dragon passed above them, the raging wind destroyed their refuge, sending them hurtling everywhere.
The dragon continued to fly over the city, its massive wings flapping slowly.
The beast passed near Midgard’s building, and for an instant, the snake woman felt that their gaze met.
Maybe it was the case, because the gigantic dragon changed its course again.
Another wing beat destroyed several buildings, forcing the Holy knights, Midgard and Dora to run away.
Fafnir flew higher, slowly and suddenly, the head fixed on the Rift, it opened its mouth and roared.
A shockwave crossed the whole town, destroying glasses from windows, and mirrors, cracking the ground and walls, and sending every emissary on knee.
The roar wasn’t just a terribly loud sound, but the longer it lasted, the pincher it became, and reached a very high frequency.
The roar ended with a high sound that sent a last shockwave across the city.
Agharita fell to the ground, bleeding from her left ear.
Farther away, Elizabeth and Peters landed next to Candace, and in front of them, Midgard, her eyes shining brightly and her pupils narrowed like a reptile, was trembling.
"... No... oh no...."
on another building, a guild emissary built like a jungle man sat up and whispered.
"Wait... This... kind of roar... this is..."
Agharita raised her head, with tired eyes.
"Alpha... Call..."
Midgard grabbed her head in great fear and turned toward everyone in her back.
"RUUUUN!!!!"
