Chapter Nine: Cheng Zong is really generous!

The elevator went all the way up without pausing, quietly and quickly. Ji XiaoYu suddenly felt a kind of dizziness and weightlessness. His chest was stuffy and his eardrums were also hurting a bit; he had to lean against the wall to ease his discomfort.

He knew that people could get car-sick and sea-sick, but he didn’t expect that he would get faint in an elevator.

Arriving at the 46th floor, the elevator doors slid silently to both sides, and Ji XiaoYu staggered out on the soles of his feet, as if he had drank too much.

The top floor was very quiet and well-decorated. There were several executives and secretaries in the open office area who hadn’t gone to lunch and they were surprised to see a little delivery guy come out of the elevator.

Zhao BaiXin was waiting at his own desk and, seeing Ji XiaoYu staggering over, he couldn’t help but wrinkle his eyebrows. This kid is too unstable. Are you thinking how overjoyed you’ll be when you clutch the golden thigh? But he did not speak out of turn to say anything, raising his hand to point at an office across the way, “Cheng Zong is in there, you deliver it yourself.”

Cheng Zong? Which one is Cheng Zong…….

Ji XiaoYu took the delivery bag and walked over dizzily. He forgot to knock on the door, reaching out to push it open, and then he went straight in.

When he stepped on the thick sound-absorbing carpet, he didn’t know what happened but somehow Ji XiaoYu’s foot got tangled up and he lost his balance. He fell forward and flew towards to a person. The delivery bag in his hands was almost flung aside. 𝒇𝐫ℯ𝑒𝒘ℯ𝑏n𝑜ѵ𝐞l.c𝗼𝗺

Cheng YuTang: “……..”

As soon as you arrive you throw yourself into my arms, do you want to seem so enthusiastic?

Cheng YuTang bowed his head. To the taller man, Ji XiaoYu’s gaze seemed to be lost, hidden beneath a pair of watery eyes. His forehead was covered with a thin layer of sweat and his white cheeks were filled with a faint blush.

This look made Cheng YuTang think of some of the beautiful scenes from last year’s Christmas Eve. His gut suddenly twisted and one of his hands, as if acting on its own, squeezed that slender but firm waist.

Everyone has their own sensitive points and vital gates and the supernatural were also no exception. Ji XiaoYu’s weakness just happened to be his waist. As Cheng YuTang’s hand stroked, he felt as if a current was climbing up his spine, making him go so weak that he nearly fell into Cheng YuTang’s arms.

However, his innate defensive instincts also made an alarm bell ring in his heart, pushing aside the discomfort from the elevator-sickness. He twisted his waist and broke the grip of that big hand. Then he lifted his empty left hand and struck out between Cheng YuTang’s chest and abdomen. Raising his eyebrows, he said, “What are you doing?!”

Ji XiaoYu used 50% of his true strength in this palm, so Cheng YuTang was forced back three steps in surprise. In his chest, his qi and blood roiled like clouds, and he had to take a moment to calm his breath, slowing saying, “I was just worried that you’d fall, so I reached out to give you a hand.”

Hmm, so it turned out to be like that……..

Out of his groggy state, Ji XiaoYu came to his senses, realizing that he had overreacted and that he had laid a heavy hand on a mortal. Feeling guilty, he immediately said, “I’m sorry, I was a little dizzy just now. In my mind, I thought that you were conspiring to do something bad, that’s why I struck out at you. Are you okay?”

Just now he used a third more power that the force of throwing Wu YaoQiang the other day. Yet. this man could still stand and there didn’t seem to be any problems except that his face was a little pale. It seemed that the core of his body was pretty good.

“……..it’s nothing.” Cheng YuTang silently swallowed the mouthful of blood that had rushed to his throat. How is this little guy so strong……. In any case, he wasn’t going to admit that he had just had a little bit of an unforgivable thought, let alone would he confess in shame that his stomach hurt a lot. So he just gazed deeply at Ji XiaoYu, “You don’t know who I am?”

“Should I know?” Ji XiaoYu asked in confusion.

He looked over the man in front of him, dressed in a dark suit made of good quality material, wearing a pair of glasses, handsome and refined, tall with long legs, all together showing off the charm of a mature and successful man. It was the man who squeezed into the staff elevator with him the other day, “So it’s you, you’re Cheng Zong?”

Disappointment flashed in Cheng YuTang’s eyes and, in a monotone, he said, “Yes, I am.”

“I’m sorry, I was very disrespectful.”

Although the last encounter was a bit unpleasant and just now there was another misunderstanding, Ji XiaoYu remained professional and put the delivery bag on the desk. He took out the meal box and the soup tableware, arranging it, and then habitually said with a grin, “Cheng Zong, the GongBao Chicken meal you ordered, a total of 25 yuan.” 𝗳𝐫𝘦e𝘸𝗲𝚋𝓃𝚘v𝘦𝘭.𝑐𝒐m

Cheng YuTang: “……..”

He pulled out his wallet and took out his smallest face value banknote, a 50 yuan note, and handed it over, “No need to give change.”

Ji XiaoYu was suddenly happy, no, overjoyed! He took the money with both hands and put it in his pocket. In a clear, loud voice, he cried, “Thank you, Cheng Zong!”

In the past, there were cases where the delivery customers gave him the change as a tip, but it usually was just a few yuan. Someone so generous like Cheng YuTang, with a tip of 25 yuan, this was the first time he had come across it.

Cheng Zong is really generous! This delivery was really worth it!

Cheng YuTang glanced out of the corner of his eye and smiled at Ji XiaoYu’s expression as if he picked up a nugget of gold. His mood was a bit complicated.

Ji XiaoYu then smiled and said, “Cheng Zong, I hope you have an enjoyable meal, I’ll look forward to your next patronage.”

With that, he lifted the delivery bag and headed out.

Is that all? Cheng YuTang blurted out, “Wait!”

“Cheng Zong, do you need anything else?” Ji XiaoYu turned around.

Cheng YuTang didn’t know what to say for the moment and he paused before asking, “How are you doing right now?”

“???” Ji XiaoYu was a little confused by Cheng Zong’s unexpected concern. “It’s all good, my body is good and I eat well.”

Nothing was bad except for his lack of money.

“The force you just pushed me with wasn’t small. Have you studied GongFu before?”

“Yeah, my family’s ancestral martial arts.” This was a question Ji XiaoYu was already comfortable with answering.

Cheng YuTang pondered for a moment, then said slowly, “The HongSheng Building currently doesn’t have enough security personnel, are you interested in changing your job?”

It seemed like Ji XiaoYu had absolutely no impression of him. Looks like he took drugs that night, with the completely ordinary memory loss that went with it.

Well, there was still the remnants of the fish and water, so Cheng YuTang couldn’t watch this little thing run around working hard every day to deliver food, earning less than 3000 yuan a month, basically subtly pulling down his own reputation. By arranging for him to work in HongSheng, supporting him just a little to let him live a little better life, his heart would feel a little more comfortable.

Cheng Zong convinced himself in his heart like that.

Hey, picking up a job while making a delivery, could there really be such a good thing? Ji XiaoYu was certainly interested, so he cut straight to the point, “So, what benefits do your security have here?”

Although his workload eased a lot after Qiang Zi came back, there had still been no extra time to find a job.

Moreover, Ji XiaoYu was a computer noob, so he couldn’t look at online recruitment posts or send in his resume on websites. He was only relying on the recruitment notifications posted outside of shops to find something, which was very inefficient.

In these past two days, he had taken the time to ask about employment at several nearby shops and there was no one that had better benefits than the small restaurant, so his job change was temporarily shelved.

Cheng YuTang, as the company president standing at the top of the hierarchy, was of course not clear on what the benefits of the building security were but he knew what would be more attractive for Ji XiaoYu, so he offered what he thought wasn’t too outrageous, “The salaries at the different levels are not the same. Starting at 4500 yuan a month, five social insurance and one gold, including food and shelter. There will be a performance bonus at the end of the year and the next year’s salary will be raised accordingly.”

Whoa! 4500 yuan, 1700 more than the small restaurant’s salary! There are also other benefits that are superior to the small restaurant!

What a great day, such a big piece of pie fell on my head! Ji XiaoYu’s eyes instantly let out beams of golden light and he said exuberantly, “Thank you, Cheng Zong, I’ll change!”

This little thing really cares for nothing but money……. Cheng YuTang said quietly, “Then tomorrow you’ll go to the security office for the onboarding process.”

Ji XiaoYu was about to agree, but then thought about it and changed his words, “I’m afraid that tomorrow won’t work. I haven’t mentioned my resignation at the small restaurant. I have to talk to the boss first, to let him prepare. At the earliest, I can come back in a week, may I?”

Although the two or three months he worked in a small restaurant were busy, on the whole, Ji XiaoYu had a good time and he also got along harmoniously with Boss Li, Zhang QiaoYan, and Wu YaoQiang. He wanted the job to end well, not like the bad ending at XinHao last year.

And in one week, he would work another full month and he could get one more month’s salary. Otherwise, if he left in a hurry, Boss Li’s temper would surely explode. Even if he didn’t deduct all his wages for this month, he would deduct at least half of it. He didn’t want to work hard for half a month for nothing.

Cheng YuTang was a bit surprised to hear Ji XiaoYu’s words. It looked like this kid hadn’t fully become obsessed with money and still had a little bit of a professional spirit.

He nodded slightly and said, “Yes, arrange the timing yourself. I’ll inform the security office in advance.”

Ji XiaoYu was surprised and delighted and, at the same time, his heart was a little shaken. He asked in doubt, “Are you really true to your word? If I resign and you take it back, then I could lose a lot of money.”

If Cheng YuTang took it back, he wasn’t afraid that he couldn’t find a job elsewhere, but it would take time and time was money, not to be wasted!

“I have been in the business for so many years and this is the first time my integrity has been questioned.” Cheng YuTang quirked the corners of his lips, almost about to laugh, “Then you tell me, what do you need to believe me?”

Ji XiaoYu’s eyes that were able to distinguish between right and wrong kept spinning around and around and then revealed a hint of a clever thought, “Can we make an agreement and draw out a contract?”

“Then you draw it up.” Cheng YuTang took out a piece of paper and a pen, wanting to see what this kid would do.

Ji XiaoYu grabbed the pen, unconsciously biting the cap and furrowing his brow, wondering what to write.

Cheng YuTang: “……..”

A grown man like this is still gnawing on a pen, isn’t it dirty?!
