Chapter 253 The Mana Capacity Test
“For a magic teacher that her highness has chosen, you are very young. Follow me to the testing room so I can determine your rank as a mage.”
Old Man William walked out of the receptionist’s table and opened a door beside it, prompting Alisceon, Allen, and Iris to follow him as he entered the room.
Entering the door, they saw a crystal ball mounted on top of a pillar situated at the center of the room.
“Place your hand on the crystal ball. It will test your mana capacity, or the amount of mana you have.”
William pointed towards the crystal ball as he told Allen to place his hand on it so that it could test one of his capabilities as a mage.
Although mana capacity, also known as either mana reserves or mana pool, wasn’t that highly needed since mana control was also important alongside element affinity, it was without a doubt one of the determiners of whether a mage could become powerful or not.
After all, if a mage’s mana pool wasn’t enough to cast a magic spell that could have the power of a Highest Realm Initial Stage, it would mean that the mage was unlikely to become a Highest Realm Initial Stage mage.
The same also meant that if a mage has a mana pool that could freely cast a magic spell, the magic power of Highest Realm Initial Stage would mean nothing if he couldn’t even control his mana to cast that magic spell.
Not to mention that a mage also needed affinity for the element of the magic spell that he would cast. So it was without a doubt that those three aspects were needed to become a high-ranking mage.
And from what Allen had deduced, it was impossible for the Mage’s Association to only test his mana. So the mana capacity test must be the first test, and there might be other tests after this.
“The crystal ball will show the numerical value of your mana capacity, but it’s only an estimation and not the accurate value of your mana capacity. But even if it’s only an estimation, it is not that far from the accurate value.”
William added as he explained how the crystal worked on testing a mage’s mana capacity.
Seeing that William didn’t have any more additional explanations, Allen placed his hand on the crystal ball. Allen didn’t even need to add mana to it since the crystal ball was made up of valuable magic crystals that were sensitive to mana.
Allen felt a foreign sensation invading his body as the crystal ball was assessing the amount of mana he had in his mana reserves as the numbers on the crystal ball were increasing at a fast rate.
The numbers on the crystal ball kept on rising at an unprecedented rate until it looked like it was overloaded, which caused some cracks to appear on the crystal ball, much to William and Alisceon’s surprise.
But it didn’t end there as more cracks started to appear on the crystal ball appeared on its surface and interior as it kept on getting bigger. And after several seconds had passed, the crystal ball shattered with a loud burst of mana exploding out of the crystal ball.
Such a phenomenon had never occurred at the Mage’s Association before, which was reflected in the astonished expressions of both William and Alisceon.
“Unbelievable….”
William muttered in disbelief as he was speechless by what he had witnessed.
If not for him being at the scene, he would have doubted if it happened or not. But the dense mana that had exploded earlier from the crystal was still lingering in the surroundings, proof that such an unprecedented phenomenon had just occurred!
Not only William, but Alisceon was also shocked. Even if she wasn’t part of the Mage’s Association, she knew that from observing William’s expression, Allen’s test result was abnormal and had never occurred at the Mage’s Association!
Because of finding a suitable magic teacher for herself, Alisceon had some knowledge about the Mage’s Association and that was why William had conversed with her as if she was a regular at the Mage’s Association. 𝗳𝔯𝙚e𝒘e𝚋𝘯𝚘ν𝙚l.𝑐o𝙢
But none of the mages at the Mage’s Association wanted to accept her as a student since they didn’t want to offend Alisceon’s royal siblings. After all, Alisceon was the weakest in terms of political power and didn’t have any powerful backer so what she had left was her status as the first princess.
Because of that, none of the mages at the Mage’s Association accepted Alisceon’s request to become her magic teacher for fear of offending her royal siblings. Even the royal court mage of the Gaia Kingdom didn’t accept her as his student because he sided with the first prince. 𝘧𝗿ee𝚠𝙚𝙗𝑛o𝚟𝐞l.𝐜૦𝗺
But if Alisceon possessed the most political power and had the highest chance of ascending to the throne, she wouldn’t have been so troubled about finding a magic teacher since those mages would find her instead so that they could curry her favor.
Without any power or backing, Alisceon was nothing. But when she observed that her teacher was a very talented mage and was possibly stronger than her kingdom’s royal court mage, she started to get optimistic about her current situation.
When William recovered from his initial shock, he loudly coughed to direct their attention towards him, which worked as Alisceon, Allen, and Iris were looking at him, waiting for what he was going to say.
“The crystal ball wasn’t even broken by the royal court mage since it can test up to the mana capacity of a Highest Realm Peak Stage mage. So breaking it meant that you have a mana capacity higher than that of a Highest Realm Peak Stage mage.”
“But mana capacity isn’t the only thing that a mage needed. Mana control is important as well or else casting magic spells will be a difficulty. So follow me to the next testing room.”
Calmly speaking out those words to them as if he was unshaken by what had happened before, William walked forward as he injected mana into the wall behind the placement of the crystal ball.
The wall opened as William walked there, prompting Allen, Alisceon, and Iris to follow him.
Onto the next test!
