Chapter 105 Him
"Okay," Lucas replied hesitantly, he wanted to see if he could learn how to change the bird's size as well.
He knew little about Mana from Renexa and that old woman in the city of elves, but that was it. Right now he had a perfect opportunity to learn how to control it, and he couldn't miss it.
"I've been practising that too," Luu said, pointing at the pool of water, "so let's go ahead and use it."
Lucas followed Luu into the water.
When they were inside the pool, Lucas saw a huge creature swimming around in it. It was similar to the bird, but bigger, with long black feathers and sharp red beaks.
Its skin was a light green colour and its tail was almost the same length as the rest of the body.
"This is a Henorus," Luu explained, "it's an aquatic reptile that lives in the seas of the world. They are very powerful creatures, especially in their natural habitat. They have wings and can fly." Luu closed his eyes and then opened them back again.
"I need you to make him your avatar, just like you made the Phoenix. When you do that, he will obey all your commands."
Lucas took a deep breath and exhaled, trying to relax. He closed his eyes and pictured the reptile in his hands once more. He breathed out, imagining the creature in his hands.
In his head, he heard Luu's voice, "what are you doing?"
"Making him my av… Ohh!" Lucas opened his eyes.
The Henorus was taking off and flying towards the cliff.
"Lucas, get away from the water!" Luu warned.
Lucas ran and jumped on top of the pool, looking behind to see if the creature was still coming after him. He saw that it was, but it was far away from them.
"Why did you let it run away?" Luu asked. fre𝙚𝓌𝒆𝚋noѵel.c𝚘m
"I wasn't concentrating hard enough, I guess," Lucas admitted, "go and catch it!"
Luu shook his head, "no way am I going to do that. You are the one who needs to learn how to control your energy, not me."
"But-" Lucas started to protest.
"No buts," Luu interrupted, "you need to learn how to control yourself! If we both try to control that thing, it will either eat us or fly away, and then you will be left on your own."
Lucas nodded, "Okay, I understand."
"Good," Luu said, "now try again."
"But I'm not ready yet!" Lucas complained.
"If you want to become strong, you have to take risks," Luu said, "and right now you are nowhere close to being able to control that thing. So, I suggest you forget about it and concentrate on something else."
Lucas sighed, "okay," he agreed.
He took another deep breath and focused on connecting with Renexa his avatar once more, and this time he succeeded. He concentrated on making the White Phoenix appear in front of him.
"See? You did it!" Luu said.
Lucas nodded, "yeah, thanks." A smile appeared on Lucas's face. He was happy to finally be able to achieve something on his own.
"Let's take a break," Luu advised.
The two continued walking for some time before Luu stopped in front of a small cave.
"This is the entrance to the underground caverns," Luu said.
Lucas stepped inside and saw that the walls were covered in white stalactites. He looked around and realized that the room was big, with several tunnels leading deeper into the mountain. There was even a ladder carved into the wall near the back.
"What are those for?" Lucas asked.
"Those are the stairs to the second floor of the house," Luu explained, "they go to the top of the building and lead down to the main hall, where we usually meet. That way it's easier to reach the meeting place without having to go outside and climb all the way up."
Lucas smiled, "that's smart."
They kept walking, following the path further into the mountain until they reached an opening in the ceiling.
"That's our entrance," Luu said, "it leads to the first floor, where the house is located. We're going to have to go through there and then climb up to the second floor."
Lucas nodded and they entered the tunnel.
It was dark and cold, and the smell of sulfur filled the air. Lucas tried to remember what kind of rock the cave was made out of, but it didn't seem familiar to him.
There were several ladders that led up the walls and some wooden doors that had no hinges or handles.
"What are these?" Lucas wondered.
"These are the rooms and storage areas," Luu explained, "they are all connected, so you don't have to pass by them every time you go somewhere."
Lucas looked around and saw that the tunnels were wide and tall. On the sides, he could see that the rock was sculpted in such a way as to create arches and openings between the shelves.
"Are these all the rooms?" Lucas asked.
"Yes," Luu answered, "this part of the underground caverns is called the 'underground city' because it has all the amenities that we need. The whole complex covers at least eight acres."
"Wow, that's a lot of lands!" Lucas exclaimed.
They continued to walk until they reached the entrance to the second floor, which was made out of stone. It looked like a huge door of obsidian.
"We can't open the door here," Luu said, "it will crush us and the house."
Lucas noticed that the stone was warm, and when he touched it he felt the heat radiating from it.
"Okay, let's go back to the first floor and try opening it there," Lucas suggested.
They went back to the entrance and tried to push the door inwards, but it wouldn't budge. They spent a few minutes pushing it only to find out that it wasn't going to work.
"Do you think it's frozen?" Lucas asked.
"Maybe," Luu pondered, "but if that was the case, I would feel it."
"What do we do now?" Lucas asked.
"We'll just have to go back now," Luu wanted to see what will Lucas's reaction be.
Lucas didn't say anything.
"Are you sure you want to go through with this?" Luu asked.
Lucas nodded, "yes."
"Alright then," Luu said, "let's do it."
