Chapter 20 By The Time He Disappears

Haya took a deep breath as he felt himself in the moment of triumph against Izek. At last, after so many years of waiting, the Izek himself lay helpless on the ground and beneath him, "you shouldn't be so stubborn, here, let me help you." Haya reached out his hand to help Izek stand up, as if he really wanted to.

"You forget I helped those spirits grow." Izek looked at the dragon, whose physical movements were paralysed by the renexa that had wrapped its wings around Kali's scaly body.

Kali didn't move, not as if she could, she didn't move, her eyes didn't blink, she didn't was breathing either.

Kali looked as if she'd been frozen in time.

"Let go of the dragon!" Haya frowned, his voice filled with anger.

Haya clenched his fist as anger coursed through his veins, 'not again.' When he thought he was winning, Izek played another dirty trick on him.

He needed the dragon to remain untouched, it was one of his missions, he'd to help them reach the city of the elves, and now this...

"I'll let you go, just release the dragon!" Haya repeated himself one more time.

"Oh look at you, another hero?" Izek pulled up the corners of his lips, his tone sounding mocking.

He was pushed to the ground as if a mountain was holding him down itself, but he still had time to play his manipulative games, 'when did he send his familiar there?' Anger boiled up in Haya.

"Let go of me and I will let this dragon live." Izek spoke.

"Okay, fine, but you've to promise me you won't hurt the dragon." Haya raised his hand and pressed lightly on his eyes, it was annoying.

Izek had won another battle by manipulating the atmosphere.

"Deal." A short and cold reply came from Izek's mouth.

"Spirit of Earth, release him." Haya heaved a long sigh.

Without waiting for another sentence from Haya's lips, the small spirit rose from Izek's body and flew through the air. He looked down at Izek and back up at Haya.

It nodded and disappeared into the air.

"I see the spirits won't last much longer." Resentment blossomed in Izek.

He put his arms on the ground and pushed his body to stand. He lifted one leg and jumped. In seconds he was back on his feet and ready to fight.

"You'll keep your word, won't you?" Haya looked at him doubtfully and regretted letting him go.

"Of course, what kind of wizard would I be?" Izek raised one of his eyebrows.

Izek glanced at Renexa who seemed to be enjoying herself as she sucked all the energy out of Kali, "isn't she beautiful?" Izek asked aloud.

"Let the dragon go." Haya spoke slowly and in a serious tone.

He clenched his fists and prepared for battle.

Everyone in this world knew what a scheming person Izek was and that they shouldn't take his words seriously: "I 'm a fool for letting him go," he crackled irritably.

"Oh dear, who am I not to be trusted." Izek raised his hands a little and let them go as if to give a sign of surrender.

His tone was sarcastic

This made Haya even more aware of Izek, "Let go of the dragon!" He shouted at him, placing one of his feet forward, ready to attack.

"Or what? Are you going to defeat me?" Izek smiled.

[System Activated]

"Oh, look who's here, the old nice system." Lucas interrupted

[Body Released]

[Goodbye]

The system spoke and disappeared again.

But whom it was addressing, neither Haya nor Izek understood.

The next thing they both saw was that the dragon getting smaller and its scaly skin was turning into soft white, human type of skin.

Kali's human body was released from Renexa's wings.

She felt down on the ground, this time breathing.

"Oh, the system is still stronger than you." Haya found an opportunity to poke fun at his old friend. It was entertaining to watch Izek get worked up again.

The system of this place was one of the enemies Izek could never defeat.

Still far from him, Izek slapped his hands together, turning his palms outwards. He wanted to fight again. "Renexa, release the energy." Shouted Izek.

Hearing Izek say those words, Haya immediately ran towards Kali's - human-looking - body to protect it from Renexa's energy attack. It would be hard for her to endure this attack in her human form.

"Isn't she too pretty for you, I'll make sure she's treated well when you die." Izek pointed his hand at him, showing Renexa that she should attack him instead of Kali. "This is entertaining." The last sentence came out of his mouth.

Blood began to run from Izek's nose, his eyes darkening, blocking his vision, "not now," he muttered, falling back to the ground.

In a few seconds Izek's body had no more energy to move, the effect of the pills had fizzled out, he was no longer needed.

Before Izek's fall, Renexa didn't have enough time to explode, and so within a minute his familiar dissolved into thin air as Izek lost his consciousness.

Haya felt a relieved sigh escape his body, he put his hands on his knees to rest.

"I can't believe it, it was so close." A hysterical laugh came from Haya's mouth.

He felt better knowing that he'd been able to save Kali from Renexa's attack.

Carefully he approached her body and wrapped his arms around her shoulders, "Lady, wake up." He whispered to Kali, but nothing came out of her.

He gently shook her tiny body, "System, give me the energy pills," he called into the air.

[System activated]

[Pill of Energy: Transmit]

A small, white pill fell from the sky. Haya opened his hand to catch it. 𝙛𝘳𝒆𝒆𝒘e𝗯n𝗼𝘷𝚎𝚕.𝒄૦𝓶

It landed directly in his palm.

[Goodbye]

The system disappeared.

He looked at Kali's looking helpless and glanced back at Izek, the white hair had disappeared from Izek's head and turned black again, Izek was no longer here, Lucas mind was supposed to be back within a minute.

"The boy will be fine." He said slowly and put the energy pill in Kali's mouth.

After a few seconds Kali opened her green as forest eyes and looked at Haya "What just happened?" She asked him with wide eyes.

"We almost died."
