Chapter 67 - WhiChapter of your friends has a voice like mine?

Edited by xiin and Noks

The person in front of him had spoken very clearly, so Yu Yan couldn’t even consider the fact that he had heard him wrong.

…He might have a relatively popular face, but however you looked at him, he didn’t look anything like a woman ba?

“You’re mistaken.” Yu Yan moved his arm out of Yi Ran’s grasp and said, “I’m a man.”

“I know, I know.” Yi Ran grabbed him again. “I said to wait a moment… You’re here for my Ge ba? I’m Yi Ran, the Yi Ran in your WeChat ah.”

Yu Yan was stunned. He scrutinised the person in front of him from top to bottom before finally noticing some familiar features.

He had seen Yi Ran’s selfie before, but because the angle with which the photo had been taken was different, he had failed to recognize him for a while.

Yu Yan was caught off guard at suddenly running into an online friend and explained, “…Excuse me, I’m not here to find Yi Chen. I’m here to borrow his computer, and I’ve already let him know about all this in advance.”

Yi Ran nodded as he listened. Of course Xiao Yan wouldn’t have been able to find his way here without his Ge’s permission.

He stepped aside, making way. “Quickly come on in.”

Yi Chen’s home was a little big for someone who lived alone. Yu Yan couldn’t look around everywhere, but wherever he looked, it seemed elegant and cold.

“Xiao Yan, when did you come to Jincheng, how come you didn’t tell me?” Yi Ran asked, “If I wasn’t helping my mom in bringing something over to this place, I wouldn’t have met you.”

Yu Yan replied, “I just arrived yesterday.”

“Came to see my Ge? But my Ge is very busy recently, does he have time to accompany you? Or, how about I’ll take you around to have fun?”

Yu Yan was stunned at the invitation and quickly shook his head. “No… I came to participate in StarTV’s annual gala.”

Yi Ran was shocked. “Annual gala? When? How come I don’t know about such a fun thing?”

“It’s being held on the second of next month, it’ll be livestreamed as well.”

Who would want to watch the livestream ah?

Yi Ran glanced at the time. “It’s already 11:30, are you late?”

Yu Yan let out an “en” and asked, “Yes… Do you know where his computer is?”

“Yes, in the study.” Yi Ran said, “Follow me.”

They walked together all the way to the study. As soon as the door opened, Yu Yan saw the hanger beside the desk, on which was a suit jacket that he had seen countless times in video calls.

Yi Ran said, “It’s right here, my Ge must have told you the password ba? I’m going out now, but if there’s time later, I’ll come back to hang out with you ah.”

Yu Yan nodded and said goodbye to him.

Only after hearing the door close did he go to the computer. He also smelled the scent of a familiar cologne when he passed by the hanger. The owner must have probably forgotten about sending it for dry cleaning after work.

He took a few sniffs, quickly sat in front of the computer, took in the appearance of its overall set-up, and frowned doubtfully.

This computer… didn’t seem to be the same as the one in the picture Yi Chen had sent him?

He hesitated for a moment, but then still turned on the computer. He typed in the password Yi Chen had sent him and logged in successfully.

Seeing the various folders on the desktop, Yu Yan felt even more confused. He dared not move things around randomly, and didn’t even look at the file names, instead directly opening up a web browser.

Once opened, the browser’s default homepage was launched automatically, which displayed the web pages commonly visited and bookmarked by the owner.

With almost just a single glance, Yu Yan noticed the website “www.cilicili.com” among the list of commonly visited sites.

His heart leaped, and he drew closer to the screen in disbelief.

After a few minutes passed, he finally couldn’t help himself. He gently clicked on the website link, and the web page immediately opened up. On the top left corner of the web page was a video title in a large font——

[The things that Little Anchor x Big Boss can’t help but say… story [part 6]]

???

Yu Yan realised that ever since he had gotten to know Yi Chen, he had lost all control on whether his heart desired to live or die.

He couldn’t seem to help himself and hit the play button.

In the following two minutes and twenty-six seconds, he even saw the appearance of the line in the barrage that he had sent through a side account— “Lord PO worked hard, presenting two C coins, looking forward to the next video.”

“……”

The webpage would only appear here if the owner of the computer had already seen the video.

And it seemed to have been watched more than once.

If it was just the “1YanTang” kind of secret code, Yu Yan could still persuade himself that Yi Chen simply didn’t understand the meaning of it, which was also why he allowed the stream followers to joke around with it.

But this kind of video… It couldn’t be that Yi Chen still didn’t understand it?

It was even tagged with [Danmei video], [gay], [cp]— these kinds of salacious and plainly obvious tags were present at the bottom of the video.

The video had already automatically started playing for a second time while Yu Yan was still in a state of shock. He didn’t come back to his senses until his cellphone rang.

It was only during a break in the meeting that Yi Chen discovered a message from two days ago in his mailbox.

Yi Ran’s mother had said that she had bought some good tea from another province and had asked Yi Ran to send it to him in a few days. She’d also told him to drink less coffee.

Yi Chen had just replied with an “alright” when he was told by the other party that she had already sent Yi Ran off to deliver it to his house today.

Thinking of the guest at his house today, Yi Chen made a very rare gesture before the meeting ended and made a private phone call.

It took a long time for the call to be answered. The voice of the person on the side of the call seemed to be uncomfortable. “Hello… Yi Chen?”

“Have you arrived home?”

“En.” Yu Yan said, “I’m already using the computer, but I tried it, and it seems that it can’t support the livestream.”

Yi Chen frowned. “Which computer are you using?”

“The one in the study.” Yu Yan paused before saying, “…Yi Ran brought me here.”

Yi Chen had completely forgotten about the browsing history on his computer. “That’s not it. Head out of the study, and the room on the far right is the computer room.”

“Okay.”

“Is Yi Ran still in the house?”

“No, he just went out.”

Yi Chen let out an “en” and said, “There’s something that I may need to trouble you with.”

Yu Yan rushed to turn off the computer as if there was something really disastrous on it.

Yu Yan replied, “Okay… Just tell me.”

“Go to the main entrance and help me change the door code.”

Not expecting it to be such a request, Yu Yan was shocked. “Ah? That’s not very good ba.”

“There’s nothing wrong with it, you can just set it to the original passcode in reverse.”

After hanging up the phone, Yu Yan went to the front door and changed the passcode according to the way Yi Chen had just said to do. Then, he fumbled his way into the computer room and sure enough, saw the high-end computer from the picture. There were many peripheral furnishings all around it as well.

Yu Yan couldn’t help exploring it a bit. Only after looking at the PUBG character equipment accessories for a while did he start his livestream.

Having gotten used to the old machine at home, when he now used this high-spec computer, he finally understood what people meant when they said they felt like they were flying.

He didn’t waste any time. After starting the livestream, he shared it on Weibo as soon as possible, and the viewers soon poured in.

[Holy shit, the anchor’s background seems to be different? I’m not remembering wrong ba?]

[It’s said that a large number of StarTV anchors have gone to Jincheng, and there will be a platform-wide annual gala in a few days.]

[The quality of this picture… I’m really crying la.]

In the past, because of hardware issues, the image quality of Yu Yan’s livestream fell somewhere in the lower middle levels amongst that of all the anchors, and he had to completely rely on his gaming abilities to keep his audience attracted.

Now, with the livestream being played in Blu-ray quality , even all the trees and grass in the game appeared as lifelike, as if the viewers themselves were playing the game.

Yu Yan started a solo match, planning to test out the sensitivity of the mouse. “Yes, I’m not at home during this period of time.”

[Then where are you?]

Yu Yan said vaguely, “…At a friend’s house.”

[It couldn’t be Tuantuan’s house ba? I remember that Tuantuan is also in Jincheng, and she mentioned before on Weibo that she would entertain Xiao Yan. Moreover, the picture quality of Tuantuan’s livestream is also Blu-ray quality.]

As soon as these words came out, several people actually appeared below to answer—

[I also think so! These two are so sweet ah.]

[I didn’t feel anything before, but after watching some livestream replays, I found that Xiao Yan and Tuantuan are like the lead male and female characters in a game. The hero saves the beauty plot is delicious!]

“Not Tuantuan.” Yu Yan spoke in a light tone, “Tuantuan and I are just ordinary friends. Everyone is free to ship CP’s, but please just plant on your own plot ba, thank you.”

After playing all afternoon, Yu Yan realized that this mouse and keyboard set seemed easier to use than the ones he used at home.

At the end of a match, he couldn’t help but open a memo app on his cellphone and note down the models of these two things.

[It’s seven o’clock, Xiao Yan isn’t eating yet? Don’t you usually take a break at half past six?]

Yu Yan glanced at the time and said, “I’ll eat later today. It’s okay, I’m going to continue to queue.”

Since he had agreed to be responsible for Yi Chen’s dinner, he decided to eat together with the other party when he returned home.

It had already struck half past eight by the time Yi Chen finished his last meeting.

Just after the meeting ended and before the staff left the room, he took the lead in taking out his cellphone from his pocket.

Little Anchor: Yi Ran is here.

Little Anchor: He has been knocking at the door for several minutes.

Little Anchor: …What should I do?

These messages had been sent half an hour ago.

1: You let him in?

Little Anchor: No, I pretended I wasn’t there.

The employees, who were clearing up the meeting documents, suddenly heard their immediate superior laughing.

Everyone raised their eyes and looked at each other.

1: It’s not good to trick people.

Yi Chen got up and strode out of the conference room. Unexpectedly, there was a person sitting outside his office.

Seeing him, Mo Nancheng got up and stretched. “Hey, Miss Secretary said I didn’t make an appointment and adamantly refused to let me go inside to wait for you. My old waist has almost broken from sitting so much.”

Yi Chen looked at his secretary approvingly. “Well done.”

“……”

Mo Nancheng followed Yi Chen into his office.

Yi Chen put the documents in their proper place, raised his eyes, and asked, “What’s the matter?”

“Nothing really…” Mo Nancheng sat down at his desk and asked, “Let’s have a meal tonight and go soak in the hot springs?”

“No.”

“Why, it’s been so tiring recently, you should relax a bit.”

Yi Chen refused. “I have something to do.”

Mo Nancheng’s face filled with understanding, and he placed his elbows on the table and drew closer to him to ask, “It seems that what Xiao Ran said was true, you really are hiding someone in your house!”

“Hiding?” Yi Chen snorted as he said, “You think I’m the same as you?”

“Then tell me, is there anyone in your house?! Is it that little anchor?!”

“Does it have anything to do with you?”

Mo Nancheng clicked his tongue. “Even heroes fall for male beauties, I understand. I’m just very curious about how good that young man is, to even bend a thousand year old fossil like you.”

Yi Chen frowned. “I don’t have that kind of relationship with him.”

“Then what is it, Gege and Didi, or are you two pretending to be father and son?”

“He couldn’t find a computer, and I was willing to help him.” Yi Chen originally didn’t like to explain things, but somehow, after listening to the two relationship labels Mo Nancheng had described for him, it felt very displeasing to his ear. “That’s all.”

Mo Nancheng replied, “If you wanted to help him, isn’t that simple to do? You could just directly buy a computer for him and send it to the hotel, how good is that? But you went as far as taking him home?”

Yi Chen glanced at him coolly. “It’s almost the end of the year, why are you so idle, is your company going to collapse?”

“Not yet, don’t worry.” Mo Nancheng was smiling widely. “In fact, I’m also sympathetic towards this little anchor, and I’d like to help him. How’s this ba, give me his contact information, and I’ll send him ten or eight computers so he can stream wherever he wants.”

“Does he lack these few computers you want to give?” Yi Chen didn’t even think before standing up and saying, “Scram ba.”

“Isn’t he short on a computer right now ma? If I send him some, then he can happily stream from the hotel, and you can work quietly at home, it’ll be the best of both worlds. To be honest… I’ve already gotten his WeChat from Xiao Ran, but he still hasn’t accepted my friend request. How about you talk to him about it…”

Yi Chen’s eyes flashed with a subtle haze, and he interrupted him, “You’d better be glad that he still hasn’t accepted your friend request.”

“…Why?” Mo Nancheng asked.

“If he had accepted,” Yi Chen stood up, picked up his coat, leisurely put it on, and said, “I would have helped set up a very lively ex-girlfriend meeting next month.”

As Yi Chen was driving home, he was still thinking about Mo Nancheng’s words.

In his heart, his intentions towards the little anchor were very straightforward in nature— he just really wanted to be good to the little anchor and also couldn’t bear to see him being wronged.

He had never liked anyone before, so he didn’t know if these intentions counted as him liking someone or not.

Because this emotion seemed to be no different from the way he usually treated his family members.

Also, some people were just born likeable, and Yu Yan was one of them.

When he got home, he saw warm light seeping from the door of the computer room which was opened slightly.

He stood and watched this sight for a while before he pushed the door fully open.

The young man was sitting in front of the computer and was wearing earphones. When he heard the sound of the door open, he immediately raised his head and looked up at Yi Chen. In a flash, many emotions appeared in his eyes.

“Yi…” Yu Yan opened his mouth and made a sound, but immediately remembered that he was livestreaming, and so stopped at once. He smiled sheepishly, and uttered only the second half of the sentence he had meant to say, “You’re back.”

Looking at his little white tiger tooth, Yi Chen felt as if something hard had hit him in his chest.

“En.” After a short pause, he calmly walked forward and put the takeout bag in his hand on the table. “Turn off the livestream and eat first.”

“Shhh…” Yu Yan reflexively said, “My mic isn’t off…”

However, it was too late. The stream followers immediately recognized the voice of the stream’s big boss, and the screen of the barrage was flooded with a rush of lines.

[That voice!! Even if I die I can’t mistake it! It’s absolutely 1!!]

[So you’re at Boss 1’s house?! Ooo, I’m swooning, too exciting. I have to go read Mrs. Side Account’s newest piece to calm down a bit…]

[WTF… I declared that I wouldn’t ship any CPs at first, but it seems that there really is something off about these two ah!!]

Yu Yan was ready to come to the rescue. “No, it’s just that my friend’s voice is a little like 1’s…”

Seeing the effort he was putting into whitewashing himself, Yi Chen’s eyebrows furrowed a bit.

“Which of your friends has a voice like mine?”

Yu Yan: “…”

Stream followers: “…?”

Stream followers: “…!”

The author has something to say:

With so many people watching, can’t you save some face for my son?

Juurensha: Ahahaha, Boss Yi making sure everyone knows whose house Yanyan is at! And Boss Yi ever so slowly realizing his own feelings (Boss Yi, you watched shipping videos more than once, come on, that’s not a familial relationship)
