Chapter 108: [Book of Array]

[Adam's POV]

.

.

A FEW MINUTES BEFORE

.

.

After meeting with Herath, I hastened my step towards the Array Shop.

While I was pretty much sure nothing life threatening will happen to the sisters in this town, I can't make a promise for anything that is trauma inducing.

It does not matter the powers of the sister, this town is pretty crazy in its own sense. Oftentimes, even the weaker ones could kill you using cheap tricks. Fairness never existed in this town to begin with.

Walking with haste, I reached near the place as I sense someone coming towards me. And the number of people who were coming towards me were two.

"Hmmm?" I was surprised, as their presence was something that didn't belong to this town.

'The dark mages? Or perhaps the Witch hunters?'

The presence reached closer to me, and I could sense the killing intent oozing out from it. It was way too easy to guess the direction of the guy as he reached closer to me.

And taking out an array filled with air under pressure, I then positioned it properly before pointing it towards that man.

-Slash!

A strong slash came out of the array and cut down the neck of that man as his appearance finally came into light.

[You have killed the Lvl 34 Bronze Witch Hunter Alrea!]

[+12,000 Exp Received!!]

And momentarily after, I saw the other man stopping as his appearance became clear as well. Either he was too scared to maintain the mana or perhaps he ran out of it.

But his fear was pretty much written all over his face as he looked at his dead comrade.

"How?" He looked at me with fear, his legs shaking as he asked again," how did you see?"

"Trust me pal. You wouldn't wanna know," I spoke as I moved closer to him at a rapid speed. He too prepared his crossbow and pointed at me before shooting a couple of shots.

Taking out another array in which an extremely dense amount of air was concentrated, I created a wall of air that formed in front of me. Because of how I created it, it seemed like I created an invisible wall in front of me.

The crossbows hit that wall before pausing in the air because of the air pressure.

And the witch hunter looked at that before looking at the evil smirk that had on my face. He felt fear once more, taking a step back. I saw him preparing to run away from there.

Though I reached out my hand towards the wall and poured a tiny bit of mana into it, disturbing the air pressure accordingly.

And within the limits of my calculations, the crossbows turned around and hit that hunter 10 times faster than before, destroying his left arm and right leg.

'Was aiming for the head but this is fine too,' I thought as I moved closer to him one step at a time.

"Please let…. Me…-" he was speaking, but I cut his head just like I did with the other one and picked them both up. Humans' heads, especially witch hunter's is precious.

They are filled with Gray silver to grant them protection.

And picking them, I then moved towards the array shop. While I was a tad bit late, I guess it still wasn't too late.

'Seems like Mrs. Thompson found the kids again… is it a coincidence at this point?' I asked myself as I spoke in a loud voice.

"Mrs. Thompson. This one is under my protection."

Moving closer, I saw Leena standing there looking at me. While Mrs. Thompson didn't seem like, she heard me as she continued towards Anna.

"Mrs. Thompson…. They are both under my protection," I spoke as I activated [Eyes of Mana], and then prepared for a heavy fight.

1…. 2… 4… 5.

'A total of 5, huh? Should take a few minutes if I only use Array,' I thought as I counted the number of guards around us.

"Wesker," Mrs. Thomspon turned to me, her eyes dissatisfied with what I just said. But her words were different from her expressions.

"I came here to tell you a couple of things that are happening around. Also, I was thinking if you could pass a message to Morpheus as well," she spoke as she looked at me.

Mrs. Thompson was one of the high level people in this city. So, I let the information that 'Morpheus and Wesker are connected' out to her.

Not in the sense we are the same, but more like we are in the same organization.

"Sure. But could you let Anna go?" I spoke as I took out a couple of arrays.

-Whoosh!

-Whoosh!

-Whoosh!!

-Whoosh!

-Whoosh!!

All 5 guards appeared around as they pointed their weapons at my vital points.

"Children! Behave!!" Mrs. Thompson shouted in anger making the guards shake as they took a step back each.

She herself stepped away from Anna and let Leena go off the charm. While she observed me with an apologetic look as she spoke,

"Apologies Wesker. Seems like i didn't teach my children properly enough. I will make sure they won't do it again."

Shivers ran down everyone's spine around except me as they looked at Mrs. Thompson. Meanwhile, I spoke in a calm voice to her,

"It's fine. Nothing enough to make me sweat. I might have had fun playing with them as well."

Hearing my voice she chuckled as she spoke,

"Oh you. That is what I like about you and your friend. Not a trace of fear as if you already know what is going to happen."

"Part of being a businessman," I answered lightly as I moved closer to Leena and then put an array on her head.

"Cough…. Cough… cough cough… blergh… blergh… cough," she coughed a lot before vomiting as her senses began to return. Falling on her knees, I could see her eyes bloodshot in fear.

"It's fine. I am here," I spoke as I patted her head before wiping a bit of tears and then moving towards Anna.

"Please let's get back into the shop. The night is getting colder by the minute," I said, making her nod at me.

Meanwhile, I helped Anna with another type of array that would help her calm down. It will also erase bits of her memories of whatever happened right now.

And then I helped her into the shop, while I saw Leena still coughing on the floor. Turning back to the 5 guards who seemed to be standing still in fear, I then paused for a moment before speaking,

"Make sure nothing happens to her while she is like that. You do that and I will make sure Mrs. Thomspon forgets whatever happened today."

Their eyes, which seemed half dead, were now lit up as they observed me. They saw me as if I were their messiah or something before they nodded and vanished again.

Inside the shop, Mrs. Thompson took a seat herself, while I helped Anna to the blanket placed on the floor. I cast an array that would help her sleep before I moved to bring another chair and a small table.

Taking the chair and the table, I then placed them in front of Mrs. Thompson, and then poured tea and biscuits before sitting down.

"Aren't you a gentleman?" She smiled as she looked at me before taking the cup and then drinking the tea. I nodded before asking,

"So. What news got the Duke's wife to the Array Maker in the middle of the night?"

She took a small bite and then began tasting it properly before eating it. And another sip of the tea, as she seemed to enjoy the mellow flavor.

"How much do you know about the Book of Array?" She asked as I looked back at the information that I had from my previous life.

The Book of Array.

It was quite a famous artifact that the Lost God of Knowledge from the ancient times possessed.

While only temporarily, the Goddess of Water had it in the War of the Gods, showing its impressive might. It was a book that contained an insane number of magic arrays stored in it.

Kind of a wish fulfillment array.

Though it had its own surprising drawback. It ended up capturing the Goddess of Knowledge into the book and transforming her into an Array itself.

Power at the cost of life kind of thing.

Another thing that needs to be pointed out is that the array was said to be alive… however that was more of a speculation than a proven point

As of right now, only 7 people know its location, unfortunately that doesn't include me. I only know bits about it and nothing that would be game changing.

After formulating my thoughts, I looked at Mrs. Thomspon making the most innocent yet curious face I had made yet and asked,

"What Book of Array?"
