Chapter 425 - Jiang YaGe and Li Shize (2)
On the other side.
“Work faster, Jiang YaGe. Why are you always so slow? Do you want to be fired?”
Looking at all the dirty dishes that were piling up, Jiang YaGe bit her lower lips. She could barely straighten up her back from her day’s work. She had wanted to switch to an easier job but she had only graduated high school and had a criminal record. It was not easy for her to seek employment. Only a small restaurant like this with very low requirements would hire her.
She reached her hand into the water and the icy cold water made her shudder. She could only bear with the pain and keep on scrubbing the dishes. It would all go numb after a while.
The restaurant had been busy the last couple of days and, as such, there had been a lot of dishes. It was almost 11 o'clock at night when Jiang YaGe was done with the dishes. She hasn’t eaten dinner yet and was famished.
The restaurant owner was still a nice person and had saved them some food. He didn’t, however, use the good rice and it had a stale taste to it. In addition, there was also a plate of stir fried vegetables and meat soup.
Another server turned the television on while they ate.
Jiang YaGe was stunned when she saw the elegant and pretty girl on television. It was a talk show and the guest they had invited for this episode was Zhong Yi. 20 years had gone by and Zhong Yi had barely changed, except looking even more graceful and poise. There was a slight smile on her and Jiang YaGe could barely remember what Zhong Yi used to look like.
“This is Zhong Yi, the boss of Star of the Future and her husband is song emperor Ren DongZhi. Ren DongZhi is so handsome. I had been a fan of his since the day that he debuted.”
“Zhong Yi isn’t half bad either. Not only was she pretty, she was also a big boss. No wonder she had captured the heart of the song emperor. He had no scandals all these years. The two of them are like the legend of romance in the entertainment circle.”
“I heard that Zhong Yi had donated 10 million yuan for the snow disaster last week. 10 million. An amount that we could not earn in two lifetimes combined.”
Jiang YaGe didn’t want to listen to Zhong Yi’s name anymore but her coworkers kept on talking about her. She finally snapped and stood up. “That’s enough. Stop with it already.”
Her co-worker, startled, stared back at her. “What is wrong with you? We are just chatting among ourselves and not talking about you. What were you all upset about? Such a bad temperament. No wonder your husband dumped you.”
“Perhaps your menopause came early. You can go away if you don’t want to listen to our chitchatting.”
Jiang YaGe was about to lose her mind from what they were saying. She threw herself at them and started a fight with them. Unfortunately, she wasn’t as strong as them and there were two of them. In the end, not only was she scratched on her neck, she even lost some of her hair.
The boss was very angry when he found out and deducted a 100 yuan from both sides. She warned her that she would be fired if she caused any troubles again.
Jiang YaGe wanted to say she quit but, remembering that she needed to pay for her rent and other expenses, she gave up on that idea and returned to her rented room feeling mistreated.
The room that she had rented was around 10 square meters in size. A bed, a closet, and a desk took up almost all of the space inside it.
There had been a time when she had money. Boss Gu had given her a house and hundreds of thousands of yuan when she had aborted the child. Unfortunately, she had lost her mind at the time from what Li ShiZe had done to her and, when she had recovered, she found out that she had been sent to a mental institution and Wang SiXian, her aunt, had sold her house and taken all of her money.
She had wanted to get in touch with her aunt but her number had been blocked. She wasn’t able to locate her even after she had filed a police report.
Jiang YaGe, having no other options, had to look for a job to support herself. Life was tough so she found herself a husband with her looks. Nevertheless, after not being able to give birth to a child after a few years, her first husband dumped her.
She had gotten married a few more times over the years and every time it ended in separation. The next person was always worse than the previous one. And, by now, she wasn’t even able to find anyone who was willing to marry her. She had no choice but to work hard in supporting herself.
Zhong Yi’s look appeared in her mind. They were like heaven and earth, two people in two different worlds.
Lying in bed, Jiang YaGe couldn't help but whimper.
How did she end up where she was right now?
She regretted so much about what she had done.
If only she could do it all over again, that she could rebirth to the past, she would for certain hug Fang JunRong’s thigh nicely and become her loving adopted daughter. She would never pay attention to the evil Wang SiXian nor would she try to seduce Li ShiZe.
Too bad, there are no “ifs” in life.
She could only lie in bed and struggle to survive.
