Chapter 37 relaxed
"Haha, just because this little girl knows how to talk, give me two."
"Auntie, you really have great taste. How about this, you pick for yourself, choose the ones you like. This is a convenience just for you." Su Yuanyuan said and then blinked, looking all cute.
In the twenty minutes after work, all the fish were sold out. Su Yuanyuan sighed, workers really are willing to spend money, buying two or three each time.
This made Su Yuanyuan happy, it was worth coming out.
She cheerfully pulled the cart away. Now it was already dark, she went to a secluded place and entered the space.
Anyway, she could stay in the space for two hours. She also took a rest, then planned to go check out the train station.
She was a bit afraid to go back to the city. The issue with the wild boar was making her somewhat scared now.
In the space, she took a bath, ate, lay down for a while, prepared some necessities, and then went out.
Upon arriving at the train station, she inquired with the ticket seller and found out that there wouldn’t be a train until the following night, which means the train passing through the city would pass by here too.
Oh well, she might as well settle down and wait patiently.
Given the current temperature, the train station was especially cold. She really didn’t want to put herself in a difficult spot, but at this time and her age, going to a motel wasn’t realistic, was it?
Resigned, she nested in a wind-sheltered corner, curled up there, thinking that it’s just for one night, she could endure it.
Luckily, she was full, with food in her belly, she felt much more at ease.
In a daze, Su Yuanyuan suddenly felt a wave of malice directed towards her, and she instantly woke up. However, she didn’t move immediately; with her small build, staying anywhere wouldn’t be enough.
But waiting to die like this was unacceptable. So she slowly sat up, stretched lazily, glanced around, then stood up and hopped in place a few times.
Then she left the spot and sat on a crowded bench. This felt much safer.
The person in the shadows cursed their bad luck and turned to leave.
Su Yuanyuan, no longer sensing any malice, finally breathed a sigh of relief. It’s really tough, feeling mentally exhausted.
She was sitting on that kind of wooden slat long bench, very uncomfortable, but there was no choice because she didn’t dare go to a less populated place.
If she couldn’t sleep, then eating was the only option. It’s the best way to pass the time.
The train station sold peanuts and sunflower seeds. So she bought a cup of each, spending two dimes, and asked for an extra piece of paper to fold into a simple paper basket, as she’d developed the habit of not littering.
She ate slowly and leisurely, as the night was still long. The people around her were all asleep. Now, Su Yuanyuan didn’t feel sleepy at all, scared wide awake.
Eventually, Su Yuanyuan felt she couldn’t eat anymore. But she still didn’t dare to sleep, so she quietly took out a piece of gum.
Anyway, it wasn’t until dawn that she felt safe, and she still had an entire day to kill, no longer planning to return to the city. She would just wait at the train station to board.
Given that, she decided to spend some money, stroll around, and see if there were things she couldn’t find back home.
She secretly drank a cup of Spiritual Spring Water. All her fatigue and exhaustion disappeared.
She happily went out for a meal. The hot noodle soup here really was tasty, not to mention the lamb giblets.
In the future, everything is filled with various seasonings, but pure and authentic stuff like this was really rare to come by.
After eating her fill, she started browsing through the shops one by one.
Actually, they were just two neighboring cities, not much of a difference. After wandering for a long time, if she encountered a good-tempered shopkeeper, she would be ignored, but with a bad-tempered one, she’d be kicked out.
Because she was dressed too shabbily, at first glance, people thought she was begging.
After wandering for more than two hours, she didn’t buy anything.
She really didn’t know what to buy. Su Yuanyuan was a bit unconventional; she wanted her money to go to familiar people or those nearby. For the same items, she planned to buy them after going back. Strolling leisurely, she suddenly heard a sharp scream, and curiously walked over to find an old woman sitting at the door, slapping her thigh and wailing.
Beside her were a few onlookers, Su Yuanyuan squeezed in, as it was truly too boring.
She listened to the old woman, sounding like she was singing opera, a real eye-opener, crying and cursing with rhythm and tone.
After listening for a while, she learned that the old woman’s son gambled away the family’s only savings.
"Third Aunt, stop fussing. Even if you cry yourself to death, the money won’t come back. You knew Erbao played cards, why did you give him money?"
"It wasn’t me who gave it to him, you know. Didn’t he just take it himself?"
Seeing nothing new, Su Yuanyuan was about to leave when she suddenly saw a group of people approaching.
Judging by their looks, they weren’t good people, each one carrying a malicious aura.
Surrounding a hunched man in the middle.
"Sun Erbao, I’m telling you. You have three days. If you don’t pay back the two hundred bucks, we’ll show you what happens when you owe us."
At this point, no one dared say a word. They all stuck to the walls, just afraid of getting embroiled.
As they left, a few of them gave Sun Erbao a couple of kicks.
Truly a prodigal son, seeing this house, they must have been quite wealthy before. What a tragedy.
"You good-for-nothing, how am I supposed to live now, you’ve gambled away all the household money. What do we have to pay off your debts?" The old woman almost fainted from anger.
"Mom, you can’t just leave me. You don’t have any grandchildren yet."
"Heavens, why don’t you just take me." She cried dramatically again.
"Mom, give me our family’s stuff, I’ll sell it, or else they’ll surely cripple me and sell our house too. Where will we live then?"
Mom, I swear I’ll never gamble again. Really, mom, you have to believe me."
Hearing this, Su Yuanyuan froze in her steps.
There were good things, she had to take a look.
The onlookers didn’t mind the trouble and stood watching; everyone knew the Sun family was rich before. Although everyone was neighbors, no one had ever been wealthier than the Sun family.
Everyone coveted the Sun family’s things, and it’s just these mother and son who were foolish. People were targeting the Sun family’s belongings, that’s why they lured Sun Erbao into gambling.
"You good-for-nothing, what’s still at home?"
Not only did Sun Erbao not believe it, the spectators didn’t believe it either.
"Mom, I’m your son, your only son. If you don’t help me, who will look after you in your old age?"
The crying grew louder. The old woman was truly heartbroken. There was only this descendant left in the family. How could she watch him really get into trouble? But her late husband had once said they’d never touch those things.
Besides, even if they were taken out, they wouldn’t fetch much money. No one would buy them. What could be done?
