Chapter 310 - 307-Why Is His Highness Angry?

"Your Highness!"

"I want to learn the art of flaunting wealth like a true tycoon, but I don't know where to start. Could you teach me?"

Stiegler asked with extreme caution, his voice tinged with both eagerness and anxiety.

Ding! A random quest has been issued: Take Stiegler on a two-day journey and teach him the Way of Extravagant Spending to become a qualified super tycoon.

Quest time limit: 2 days.

Success Reward: Random luxury points (99% chance of receiving 3 bottles of Stellar Potion).

Failure Reward: Random luxury points (50% chance of receiving 3 bottles of Stellar Potion).

"…What the hell?"

Velen stared blankly, completely thrown off.

"System… is this punishment even serious?"

Who on earth gives rewards even when a mission fails?

Ding! Notification: Host has been informed. Since you are already a certified Master of Lavish Spending, there will be no punishments for failed quests going forward.

Ding! Reminder: All future quests will be automatically accepted. However, whether you complete them or not depends entirely on your mood!

"???"

So I can't refuse missions, but I get rewards whether I complete them or not?

Why not just say you're desperate to shower me with gifts?

Velen rubbed his forehead in exasperation.

He wanted to feel challenged, to experience a system that pushed him harder... but no, his system just kept pampering him like royalty. It was beyond frustrating!

"Stiegler," Velen finally said, "since you wish to learn the way of extravagant wealth and showmanship, I'll take you on a two-day journey. How much you learn depends entirely on your own comprehension."

"Really?!"

Stiegler was overjoyed. He hadn't dared to dream that His Highness would not only be willing to instruct him—but actually take him out for real-world training!

"Tch... I'll renovate Titan Tower once I return. After the system upgrade, I probably won't be able to pave the floors with advanced mana crystals from the low plane universe anymore. Might as well use ones from the upper plane then..."

With one final glance at Titan Tower, Velen began walking toward the mountain path, Stiegler tagging along.

On the way, they bumped into Alec, Lore, and Sivan.

"Alec, Lore, Sivan," Velen said as he passed them, "you'll stay behind and guard Titan Tower. I'm taking Stiegler with me for two days. He lacks the talent of flaunting wealth and needs some intensive one-on-one guidance."

"…A waste who can't even flaunt properly gets to go on an outing with His Highness, while we masters of luxurious squandering have to stay behind and hold the fort?"

Staring at the smug grin on Stiegler's face, Alec and Lore both felt their hearts cracking in half.

Damn! We showed off our skills too early!

"Your Highness!"

"I… I don't know how to flaunt wealth either!" Sivan suddenly shouted.

"Please take me too! I need instruction!"

"What?"

Velen's expression darkened immediately. "You mean to tell me you don't know how to flaunt wealth?"

"A normal person would never offer a million advanced mana crystals just to join the sanctuary! If that doesn't qualify as wasteful extravagance, then what the hell do you think I've been doing?"

He glared at Sivan, visibly offended.

Ridiculous!

That's exactly how I joined the fortress back then! It was my grand debut in a foreign realm—practically a landmark event in my personal history!

And now you're saying it doesn't count? Are you trying to embarrass me?!

As he walked away, Velen was still fuming internally.

"Wait, what just happened?"

"I only wanted to join them and increase my presence a little. How did I end up making His Highness angry instead?"

Watching Velen's retreating figure, Sivan was close to tears.

Not only did he miss his chance to go, he somehow managed to offend His Highness in the process.

Total loss...

Outside the Endless Sanctuary

"By the gods…"

"Is this labyrinth really built entirely out of Mystic Chroma Gold?"

Stiegler was stunned by the massive structure before him.

He had never seen such a quantity of Mystic Chroma Gold in one place—let alone imagined using it to construct a massive maze!

"Your Highness!" he gasped. "Is this masterpiece your work?"

As a candidate saint, he understood better than anyone that the sanctuary itself couldn't possibly have afforded such extravagance.

"That's right," Velen replied with a proud smile. "Now that we have this labyrinth array, the Endless Sanctuary is no longer vulnerable to any enemy."

"But we're in a hurry. Let's make our way through quickly."

As he spoke, Velen stepped into the maze.

Yet just as he entered, the previously silent labyrinth suddenly came alive.

Tens of thousands of Mystic Chroma Gold panels began to shift and move unpredictably, forming new corridors at random.

"Damn it!"

"The array's active?!"

Velen immediately stepped back out, frowning at the now-motionless labyrinth.

"Your Highness, aren't we going through?" Stiegler asked, puzzled. Although he'd seen the maze react, he assumed it was nothing Velen couldn't handle.

"Wait a bit," Velen replied. If the formation had activated on its own, he was sure the Illusory Demon Elder would be arriving shortly.

And sure enough...

"Titan Elder!"

The familiar voice of the Illusory Demon Elder called from behind.

"Elder," Velen turned around, "why is the maze array active?"

"Your Highness!"

"You gave me one hundred million advanced mana crystals and said I could 'play around.' I figured I had to show off, so I decided to keep the labyrinth array permanently active!"

The Illusory Demon Elder explained nervously. He wasn't entirely sure he'd made the right call, and if he was wrong, he'd likely be scolded.

"What?!"

"Permanently active?!"

Velen's eyes widened in shock—but deep down, he was impressed.

A genius! Entrusting the maze to him was the right choice after all!

"Well done, Elder!"

"If you need any resources, just name them!"

Velen declared generously.

"Um... Elder," Stiegler couldn't help but ask, "how many advanced mana crystals does it cost to maintain this labyrinth per day?"

"Not much," the elder said with a grin. "Just about… what you'd earn in a few years."

Stiegler clutched his chest, his expression filled with pain.

"Years of my resources gone in a single day?"

This is the Way of Extravagant Spending?

Why does it bring me no joy—only suffering?

Outside the Endless Sanctuary

"ENDLESS SANCTUARY!!!"

"You failed to kill me all those years ago… but you never expected I'd gain a miraculous opportunity on the Singularity Battlefield, did you?"

"I've trained for a thousand years, and now I've ascended to divine-tier level one! Today, I, Morris, will flatten this sanctuary and make you pay the price!"

A massive, axe-wielding brute radiating killing intent approached the sanctuary gates.

"What the... Mystic Chroma Gold?"

"They used this much Mystic Chroma Gold just to build a maze?"

"In just a thousand years, the Endless Sanctuary has grown this wealthy?!"

Seeing the glittering maze before him, Morris was stunned.

"Perfect!"

"Once I destroy you all, this Mystic Chroma Gold will be mine!"

Grinning wildly, Morris stepped into the labyrinth.

As the maze reactivated, Velen and his group turned to look.

"It's him!"

From the array's control core, the Illusory Demon Elder's expression changed drastically as he peered into the maze.

"Who just entered the array?" Velen asked curiously.

"Not someone from the sanctuary."

"It's Morris—the cosmic bandit!"

"Back on the Singularity Battlefield, we clashed over the Astral Phantasm Fruit. Though we heavily injured him with a joint effort between me and the Void Elder, he still escaped."

"He already had Star Emperor level 5 power back then. If he's returned to seek revenge now… he won't be easy to deal with."

Then the elder paused, glancing from the control core to the labyrinth itself.

Suddenly, he burst into laughter.

"So what if he's come with ill intentions?"

"He's stepped into my maze array. Let's see how I kill him from the inside out!"
