Chapter 56: I am fine

On a wide street littered with numerous corpses, blood, and flesh, a young man sat on the ground and a big black dog was walking around him in circles.

"See, I told you. I am completely fine. I am feeling great."

Lu Chen stood up, warmly smiling at the beast that looked like a ferocious demon from hell but was currently gazing at him in concern.

It would have been such a heartwarming scene if not for the stench of death and dried blood stuck on the dog's pitch black fur.

He leaned forward and nuzzled her head until a tongue stuck out, licking him reluctantly.

Lu Chen smiled. He wrapped both his hands around her big furry head and hugged her silently for a minute.

"I am alright. I am fine. I will be more careful from now on. Thank you for taking care of me."

Such a silly smile! Qin Hua turned her head away, a bit too overwhelmed by the jolt of emotions.

She wiggled out of his embrace, let out a low bark, and then suddenly jumped to their right, pulling out one of the goblin's corpses from underneath a pile of mess.

She tore the goblin's head away which was already half mangled and kicked it towards Lu Chen, with a small white orb shining in the midst of the flesh.

Huh? Lu Chen's eyes widened. He didn't realize that she had gotten strong enough to slay these strange creatures as well.

These were definitely stronger than the normal zombies and so the mana core should be more useful as well.

"You want me to use this?" He asked, looking at the dog in puzzlement. Didn't she want to use it for herself?

Qin Hua nodded her head up and down, licking her mouth.

She then once again pounced back into the messy pile of corpses and brought out another goblin's head which she threw towards Guan Ye.

The assassin was quietly holding Su Yan's unconscious body and standing on the side, along with Alex and Xu Meilin.

If not for him guarding her friends meticulously, she perhaps wouldn't have been able to see them again. So she was not stingy with her gratitude.

Lu Chen was shocked and Guan Ye was even more shocked. But both of them did not stand on ceremony and quickly accepted her gifts.

The goblin's mana cores were slightly bigger in size and as soon as they touched it, a wave of energy swept across their bodies.

Qin Hua watched their surprised faces and licked her lips in satisfaction. She then busily got to work as there were a lot of corpses around them and most still had their mana cores intact.

Seeing her, the others as well did not stand around and quickly got to work.

At first, they simply brought over the zombies' heads to the black dog, even the two girls, though they were completely repulsed and disgusted to hold nasty bleeding severed heads.

But Qin Hua shook her head and signaled them to use it for themselves.

The mana cores from the normal zombies no longer gave her a significant upgrade. They just gave one or two stat points which were of course still good.

But more than her, the others needed it, especially Alex and Xu Meilin who were considerably weaker than the others and had no special abilities.

So she simply signaled them to use it for themselves.

"T… thanks, little… white." Xu Meilin smiled weakly and nodded and Alex as well revealed a similar expression before clearing out everything quickly.

The two of them tried their best to not be scared by the giant dog but they couldn't help it as Qin Hua's appearance was just that gory.

Everyone carefully combed through the street, not leaving even a single corpse unturned and absorbed as many mana cores as they possibly could.

With her shadow clone, Qin Hua was happily cleaning out twice as fast as the others but she had farmed a lot of zombies this time around, so everyone had plenty.

Even Alex and Xu Meilin could feel a significant difference after absorbing so many mana cores. They now felt much stronger and faster and their movements were more free and unrestrained.

As the group continued to rip the zombies one by one and take out the cores, the five people who had left earlier, not wanting to stay with them walked out of the apartment complex.

The coast was now more or less cleared, but they were dragging their feet on the ground, staring at the group enviously.

"We should have just stayed with them." One of them muttered, eying the middle-aged man indignantly.

"Did I force you to come with me?" Luo Zu barked back. Even he was regretting his decision and this idiot was rubbing it on his face!

The two women, however, looked at each other and nodded in silent understanding. After a couple of minutes, they then started walking towards Alex and Xu Meilin.

"What the heck??" The others watched them with their mouths wide open as the two women bowed respectfully and muttered something to everyone.

They all seemed to be talking within themselves.

The others couldn't exactly hear them but after a few seconds, the two women smile and bowed again and again, as if they were thanking them profusely.

"What the hell?! What is so special about these brats?" Luo Zu chewed his nails and spat out. "They just got their hands on those white color balls before us. Otherwise, we could have also become strong like them."

He turned around only to see that he was talking to air.

The other two men had also started walking towards Lu Chen and Guan Ye and just like the women, it looked like they as well apologized and then got accepted into the group.

"Damn it. Damn it." Luo Zu gritted his teeth angrily. He also wanted to join them but he had run his stupid mouth too much earlier.

He didn't have the face to shamelessly go and apologize. But then again, losing face was better than dying, so he quickly swallowed his shame and walked over to the group as well.
