Chapter 20: Limit Break
Chapter 20 - Limit Break
"We meet again, tuxedo," said a soldier in the middle of the group, brandishing his sword at the humanoid mosquito while keeping an eye on the giant mosquito flying above him. "This time, we'll win and progress forward!"
The moment he declared his goal, the swordsman dashed at the humanoid enemy.
His teammates spread out around the giant mosquitoes, each grabbing the red strands that linked the insects to the tuxedo monster.
Rael narrowed his eyes at their tactic.
They aren't attacking those strands. Maybe they're too strong.
Instead, the soldiers tugged on the red strands, trying to drag the mosquitoes down, but the insects barely budged.
Meanwhile, the swordsman managed to land a few hits on the tuxedo monster, though none were fatal, only leaving cuts on its body. He was doing a good job keeping the enemy busy.
[He is also checking on his teammates, Lord Rael.]
Focusing on the subtle movements of the soldier's helmet, Rael noticed him looking around to track his allies.

There was nothing more to see in terms of strategy, though, since the team could not move to the next phase of their plan.
Rael decided to join and help them fight the mosquitoes.
Only five soldiers were free to act, leaving three of the insects buzzing in the air.
Let's do it, Shiran, Dominica.
[Aye!]
[May you succeed, Lord Rael.]
In lion form, Rael waited for the swordsman to clash with the tuxedo monster again.
When their weapons met, Rael channeled his inner lion and burst out of the bushes, charging at the nearest mosquito.
Lions were known for lurking in the shadows and lunging with sudden speed.
Rael demonstrated that skill by closing the gap to the red strand in one breath.
Before anyone realized a third party had arrived, he opened his new jaw of sharp teeth and bit into the red strand, chewing on it.
It's like gum.
Shiran growled inside Rael as neither of them could tear through the strand.
Rael shook his head to add more force but got nowhere.
He understood why nobody tried cutting these strands.
Still, he had other options.
Biting down on the red strand, he looked upward and yanked the creature lower.
He pulled it a few meters down, switched to human form, and wrapped his claws around the red strand like a rope.
The mosquito fought back, buzzing its wings hard, but Rael's stats were higher, so he kept hauling it downward.
Once it was within reach, he gave a final pull, slamming it onto the ground with a loud thud.
Huh? The red strand feels lighter.
He tugged on it, and it tore away from the mosquito, spilling blood on the ground.
A loud groan came from the humanoid mosquito, who glared at Rael.
"You called for backup, huh?!"
Rael ignored him and returned to lion mode, leaping at the fallen insect.
He knocked it onto its back and pressed his full weight down, then sank his teeth into its strange flesh, ripping out more of the metallic-tasting blood.
He stood over the mosquito's body like a lion king, blood dripping from his metal jaw.
I guess it's normal for me to enjoy blood since it has iron and a metallic taste. I carry The God Of Machima's bloodline, after all. It's weird but also thrilling. I like it.
[Me too, Lord Rael!]
[I am relieved, Lord Rael.]
At that moment, the swordsman realized Rael was an ally.
He inhaled deeply and yelled, "LIMIT BREAK AND TAKE DOWN ALL THOSE MOSQUITOES!"
Rael turned his head toward the other soldiers and watched their auras flare to at least triple their usual strength.
With that sudden power, they yanked down the monsters they fought and finished them off with their respective weapons.
They then joined forces to slay the remaining two mosquitoes, leaving the humanoid tuxedo by himself, still under the effects of their limit break.
"All this blood spilled... Her Majesty's blood!" the tuxedo man shrieked, clutching his insect-like eyes.
"HUMANS! I will not just drain you dry now. I will ENSLAVE YOU FOR ETERNITY!"
Two black needles with split tips slipped out from his palms.
He gripped them and assumed a different battle stance, then charged at the group of soldiers.
The swordsman shouted, "He's vulnerable now! We can take him!"
