Chapter 218

Chapter 218: Chapter 218

- KILLIAN -

I love my brother, I genuinely do but even I can tell he’s trying to get on my nerves on purpose. His drive is the fact that I care about someone else who’s not family as much as I do and he’s going to do what he does best and torment me.

Sometimes, all I feel for him is love but when I’m next to him, I wonder how that happened in the first place. How do little siblings carry that trait since birth to adult hood? I need someone to make it make sense.

“And a mocktail for you.”

I groan and roll my eyes as Liam’s voice is heard. Even in the living room, I’m keeping my ears alert for what’s happening between MY woman and him in the dinning.

“Thank you.” Hazel chuckles. I hear a slurp. Hazel moans. This makes my brows crease and I turn to look at them. “Tastes juicy.” She takes another sip out the straw. “Really juicy. Did you make this?”

Liam averts his gaze to me. He has a playful smirk on his face and cocks his head to the side before returning his attention to Hazel. “One and only.” He leans closer to her. I notice Hazel blush.

My face immediately retains a disgusted or absurd look. What the fuck?

“You did a good job.” She’s drinking out of the mocktail. I make mocktails just fine! And I bet they’re tastier than Liam’s because I cook better. The only kitchen master between us.

Liam stares at me again. “My pleasure. After all,” his voice is soothing, like a deep honey, buttery or milky combo. “I heard alcohol is no good for you.” His eyes are stuck on mine. I watch his eyes lower to gaze at Hazel then avert back up to her face. “They make your legs spread.” He whispers.

“Okay, enough bonding!” I immediately intervene, walking towards them. The silent laughter Liam snuck as I came made my nerves bubble. I know what he meant. He knows exactly how Hazel and I met and what brought her to my home and now that the place we’re at fits the scene with one extra addition of a human, being him, he’s going to make sure I’m aware of his presence.

I can even imagine him sharing a bed with us, laying right at the middle serving as a division with an obvious smirk on his face and it irks me.

Remind me why I thought it good to introduce her to him officially, again. I’m starting to doubt my own motive.

I let my hands rest on Hazel’s shoulder, carefully kneading into her skin softly. The exhale of relief that draws out her mouth as I do that pleases me. I watch Liam’s eyes darken before easing off the tension.

Ah, I see what this is. He’s throwing a tantrum because he wants it to be the two of us or am I simply in my head again? My brother has countless women waiting around at the Iva and I’d be damned to believe that just because he’s here, they’re not there, half or fully naked in his room waiting for his arrival. Now I’m convinced he just wants to draw out something from me but I won’t give him the satisfaction of it.

I swallow. It brings me to wonder if he let Hazel be with Kaiden during the school sport’s tournament on purpose or not. That’s a question for another day.

“Shouldn’t you be somewhere else, Liam?” I ask. He paces over the dining with a glass of liquor in his hand. I monitor his movement with my eyes. “Like, I don’t know, home?” I raise a brow. The privacy would be needed very much.

“Want to send your only brother away at night? What if I get abducted?” He says mock horror.

Good gracious. I know what he’s playing at. Also, if anything, if someone is attempts to abduct a man well over six feet and built the way Liam is, then I would mourn their demise. I fear for the men who would dare cross my brother. May their silly plan torment their damned soul forever.

My teeth clenches. “Please, be my guest for the night. We have enough rooms to accommodate us all so choose whichever you’d be most comfortable in.” I say. Liam draws a chair out and sits. I know he enjoys watching me fold. Devious. “And definitely not my bedroom.” I add. I don’t trust him there.

“Would you like another glass, милый?”

[ Translation: милый means darling. ]

I roll my eyes at his question. Say no, Hazel. Let’s leave him here, I chant in my head.

“One more if that okay.” Hazel responds. I feel my jaw tighten.

“Anything for you.” I watch his advancement closely. The gently nudge of his fingers on hers as he retrieves the glass from her does not go unnoticed. It was almost like a careless caress, an attempt to taunt my fury. I clear my throat.

Liam stands up and makes himself scarce, heading to what I assume is the kitchen.

“Your brother, woah.” Hazel comments.

“He sure is something.” I remark, keeping my eyes glued to where he walked out from.

“Charming.” Hazel says. “He is something but is charming.”

“You find my brother charming?” I question, lowering my gaze to look down at her instead.

“In the sense that he’s sweet.” She looks up at me. “I guess the trait runs in the family.” Ugh. “And the handsomeness too, my God!” My fingers squeeze into her shoulder unknowingly. It wasn’t until a gasp slid in my ears that I realised what I was doing.

I let them rest freely over her. “Sorry.” I say, concern obvious in my tone.

Hazel nods, her hand touches mine. It’s cold. “Just be careful not to massage too hard.” She smiles.

I smile back at her.

“You know, you can go up and rest while I bring the drink to you. I know you’ve had a long day.” I say to her. This is my petty attempt to keep her away from my brother.

“ерунда!” Beams from the end of the room. I hear footsteps advancing forward. I grit my teeth at the sight of him. “We’re just getting to know each other.” Liam says.

[ Translation: ерунда means nonsense. ]

He has a tray in his hand. One filled with two glasses of mocktail and a saucer of iced muffins. Almost like he predicted I would want her gone in his absence and cooked up a counter measure.

Touché. Very Touché.

“If you want to retire to bed, darling, I am more than happy to let you.” Liam says sweetly. I know he’s trying to get in her head on purpose.

“No, please, let’s not put the treats to waste, someone’s got to eat them.” Hazel says, taking a muffin. Well, it seems someone has done his research to know food is Hazel’s kryptonite.

Well played, brother. Well played.
