Chapter 80: Chapter 080: Enemies on a Narrow Road
“Don’t go on about it, be careful or the Living Yama will toss you into the back hills. I’ve heard there are wolves there,” Zhou Xuelian hissed.
“Stop talking nonsense, Captain Xu is a war hero,” Qin Cuifen said with grandeur.

Sheng Ning almost snorted with a cold huff as she carried her package. Isn’t this what you call a cursed fate?
The more she disliked someone, the more likely she was to end up with them. In a room with eight beds, just look—everyone she didn’t get along with was here.
“She’s staying here too?” Zhao Feifei caught sight of Sheng Ning standing at the door and said with contempt, “If I knew she was staying here, I wouldn’t have stayed.”
Sheng Ning’s profound eyes swept over her, and Zhao Feifei shivered.
...
“If you don’t stay, then get lost,” Chen Huaying came in with her package and began to drive Zhao Feifei out.
“I’ve taken a liking to this place. Go find another dorm!” Chen Huaying, accustomed to getting her way, ignored the glances from others in the dorm.
“Chen Huaying, don’t go too far. Why should I give up my bed to you?”
“Because my fist is harder than yours.”
“Are you even a woman?” Zhao Feifei, face flushed with anger, cast a pleading look toward Qin Cuifen, only to see Qin Cuifen with her head down, completely ignoring her.
“Cuifen, aren’t you going to stand up for me?” Zhao Feifei, from the drama group, wasn’t close to Qin Cuifen before. But then, in their mutual dislike for Sheng Ning, they became good friends.
Now directly called out, Qin Cuifen’s face flickered with disgust. Doesn’t Zhao Feifei have any brains? How dare she provoke Chen Huaying, with her background? And Qin had heard that the captain of the War Wolf Rescue Team’s Fourth Squad was Chen Huaying’s own brother. Offending her would be suicidal, wouldn’t it?
“Feifei, why don’t you switch with Sheng Ning?” Qin Cuifen thought of a cunning plan to shift the trouble elsewhere, secretly pleased.
“Fine!” Since Zhao Feifei didn’t want to stay there anyway, Sheng Ning, without setting down her shoulder bag, turned to leave but was stopped by Chen Huaying.
“You stay, she leaves!” Chen Huaying raised her hand pointing at Sheng Ning and then at Zhao Feifei.
Zhao Feifei, as if subjected to a great humiliation, stamped her foot in fury and vowed, “Sheng Ning, just you wait. We are irrevocable enemies. I will repay today’s humiliation twofold in the future.”
Sheng Ning blinked her fan-like eyelashes, utterly bewildered. What had she done to deserve this? Had she expressed any opinion from start to finish?
Also, what kind of thought process did Zhao Feifei have? Clearly, it was Chen Huaying who kicked her out, yet she blamed Sheng Ning.
Was she blind or something?
Chen Huaying took Zhao Feifei’s bed and began arranging her things, content with her conquest.
Sheng Ning was feeling truly uncomfortable in her stomach, and the jolting made it worse; she didn’t want to move a muscle. She had arrived late, so the good spots on the bed were taken. She settled for a spot as close to the edge as she could, organized all her belongings, and laid out her quilt and pillow.
“Sheng Ning, your hot water bag,” Zhang Hongmei moved faster, having already found where to fill it up. She handed the filled water bag to Sheng Ning.
“Thank you!” Sheng Ning’s eyes shone with gratitude as she thanked Zhang Hongmei, casually placing the hot water bag on her lower abdomen, then wrapping herself with the quilt. Only then did she feel much better.

Yang Wenying followed Zhou Hong inwardly sizing up the surroundings. Everyone’s blood ran hot, and she felt a surge of excitement when she saw the tough people around her.
Especially when passing the parade ground and witnessing squads in breakthrough training, she couldn’t help but stop and watch.
“I’m really sorry, Captain Xu isn’t here. He should have been the one to greet you personally,” Zhou Hong knew he couldn’t offend this woman and was very polite the entire way.
“Where is Captain Xu?” Yang Wenying frowned.
“He’s gone to meet people from the Provincial Rescue Center.” They had only received the notification that morning; if not for the leader’s specific instructions, Xu Qigang would probably have taken his team into the mountains by now.
