Chapter 180: Chapter 180 Ling Wushang

Family… this warm but extremely foreign phrase caused Ling Chuxi to suddenly feel a shot of dull pain in her heart. No matter whether it was in the past or in the present, she had never enjoyed the warmth of a family. Who was her mother? Who was her father? How did they look? Nobody had ever told her. She herself had never met either of them before.

“Hey, Ling Chuxi. What’s wrong with you?” asked Lan Xinyu as she stretched out her arm and waved a hand in front of Ling Chuxi’s face.

“I’m fine. I will return home for New Year’s,” replied Ling Chuxi with pursed lips. She continued by saying, “Take your pig trotter away. It’s so heavy!” as she brushed Lan Xinyu’s hand off her shoulder in disdain after she finished speaking. Then, she put Little White around her neck.

“You dare disdain me!” roared Lan Xinyu in a furious rage.

“It’s not like it’s the first or second time I’ve done so anyway. Why? Do you want to fight? Oh wait, that can’t be right. You won’t be able to defeat me. I should have said, ‘Why? Is your skin itching for a beating?’ instead,” snorted Ling Chuxi as she glanced at Lan Xinyu.

“You—you…” sputtered Lan Xinyu. She was so upset that she was tongue-tied. She almost spat out blood. She felt that she would be angered to death sooner or later by Ling Chuxi rather than being beaten to death.

Ling Chuxi paid no further mind to Lan Xinyu. With a harrumph, she headed straight for the study court. Ling Yichen and Lan Xinyu followed after her. From a distance, Xia Zhuoyi noticed them and casually jogged over to join them.

In the afternoon, once classes had ended, a teacher came to seek out Ling Chuxi and pass her a letter, saying that it was sent over from the Ling family in Shi Qu Town.

“Could it be that the Ling family is in trouble again?” guessed Ling Yichen as his expression changed ever so slightly.

“I don’t think so,” said Ling Chuxi as shook her head. She was stunned when she lowered her head to read the words written on the paper. “It is from my brother.”

“Your elder brother? Ling Wushang?” asked Ling Yichen, stunned. Ling Wushang, this name had a remote feeling to it when he thought about it now. In the past, the clansmen had always had this name on their lips as they talked about how Ling Wushang’s qualifications were extremely good and that he was brought away to cultivate since he was very young. As for the person who brought him away, even the Ling family did not know the person’s identity. That person had casually shown his hand and shocked the entire Ling family. After that, they never heard news of the person or Ling Wushang for a long time. No one would have ever thought that he would write to Ling Chuxi now.

Ling Chuxi was also very confused. In her mind, the memories of Ling Wushang were very vague, and she had almost thrown him out of her mind lately. She never thought that she would receive a letter from him at this time. Ling Wushang had never written back to her and had only asked other people to bring things back on his behalf. Yet he was writing to her now. Why was that exactly?

Ling Chuxi opened the letter and looked through its contents with a frown. The contents of the letter made Ling Chuxi instantly suspicious.

“You are finally back, Chuxi. You have understood the manual I gave you and learnt how to cultivate Thundercloud Battle Qi. Then, this should mean that you are back. Once we meet, I will tell you everything. Your return is inevitable!”

The letter contained just those few sentences and nothing else. But, those few simple sentences cooked up a storm in Ling Chuxi’s heart. What did these words mean? Returning was inevitable! Ling Wushang’s few sentences indicated that he might have known that she had transmigrated over to this world and felt that this was her returning somehow? What did it all mean?

Ling Chuxi felt extremely shocked. Her hand subconsciously clenched, crumpling the letter in her grip.

“Chuxi… What is it, Chuxi?” asked Ling Yichen worriedly. He had noticed something was off with Ling Chuxi’s expression.

“Ah, I’m fine,” replied Ling Chuxi with a forced smile. She sighed lightly and calmed her chaotic emotions. Did Ling Wushang reaching out to her mean that she, too, had a family here?!
