Chapter 11 – Talking Nonsense (胡说八道)

Jing Yunzhao nodded at Teacher Jin’s words, but before she could leave the office, she was stopped by the ringing of the phone on Teacher Jin’s desk.

As she listened to the person on the other line, Teacher Jin’s face fell.

Moments later, she told Jing Yunzhao, “Jing Yunzhao, don’t take this test now. Take your sister to the county hospital. Your mom’s condition isn’t...”

Jing Yunzhao paused. She didn’t think Ye Qin’s condition to deteriorate this fast. ƒ𝘳𝗲𝑒𝒘𝐞𝚋𝚗𝐨v𝘦l.𝒄o𝐦

On this day in her past life, Jing Yunzhao had been unable to attend school, so Qiao Hongye had been the only one to be notified. Meanwhile, the fever had confined Jing Yunzhao to her bed, completely unaware of what had been happening. She had assumed that there would still be another day before her passing, but it seemed like she was hospitalized earlier on and did not pass away immediately.

Thinking about Ye Qin caused Jing Yunzhao to feel a myriad of emotions.

Regardless of why Ye Qin decided to adopt her, she had raised Jing Yunzhao till now—that, was an irrefutable fact. Additionally, she had always believed that Ye Qin was her biological mother for the whole of her past life, so the feelings between a mother and child did exist.

Ye Qin was the only one in the whole Qiao family that Jing Yunzhao resented but did not hate.

Jing Yunzhao didn’t stay in the o?ce any longer and hurried to the neighbouring class to find Qiao Hongye. f𝐫ee𝘄ℯ𝚋no𝐯𝐞l.c𝘰m

At the sight of Qiao Hongye, Jing Yunzhao couldn’t help but recall what had happened in her past life. Back then, Qiao Hongye happily went to take the test, thinking that with Jing Yunzhao absent, she’d finally make the top score.

Alas, it was Qiao Hongye’s fate that didn’t allow it, as in the end, she still did not manage to take the test. The feeling of “God’s plans supersede our own”, probably made her feel frustrated for a long while.

The county hospital was close to the school. When Jing Yunzhao and Qiao Hongye arrived, they saw Ye Qin lying on a bed, wearing a grim and ghastly expression. She looked as if she would breathe her last breath at any moment.

Qiao Weimin’s expression was heavy. The moment his eyes landed on Jing Yunzhao, something flashed in his eyes.

“Hongye, your mom might not make it this time...” he said softly.

Jing Yunzhao heart filled with ridicule. Ye Qin’s illness had been ongoing for quite a while now, costing the family a great deal of money. She had also caused a lot of trouble for everyone in the house. Despondency was already long overdue. The feeling hit a few months ago when Ye Qin first received her diagnosis, but over time, the despondency had inevitably faded.

Therefore, at present, wouldn’t the family of three be more inclined towards anxiously waiting for Ye Qin’s passing and being relieved from the burden?

After a period of deliberation, Jing Yunzhao decided to suggest, “Dad...I know of a prescription. We can try making the medicine for Mom and see if it’ll help her regain some vitality...”

She had spent a lot of time and effort inside of her space, trying to find a way to treat Ye Qin’s illness. Unfortunately, the first jade just didn’t contain any methods for a full recovery. She was only able to get a vague understanding of the illness at most. With that, the best she could manage was to alter a bit of its foundation to allow Ye Qin longer longevity.

Though she was currently incapable of producing a complete cure for Ye Qin’s illness, with Jing Yunzhao’s learning speed, a quick boost and a bit more effort would be enough to procure a chance of fully restoring Ye Qin’s health.

After all, that Old Ancestor had more than 300 years worth of medical experience and knowledge. Plus, everything he knew was even from a different world. She could tell from the information in the Spirit Jade that his methods were probably more miraculous than the average Eastern doctor!

“You? What the fuck would you know? I think you’re just asking for a beating!” Qiao Weimin immediately raised his hand. How could he keep listening?

“Stop!” A familiar voice rang out from the hospital’s ward entranceway, only to see Teacher Jin frantically pulling Jing Yunzhao away from Qiao Weimin. “Mr. Qiao, you are a senior. How can you resort so quickly to your fists?!”

After having that conversation with Jing Yunzhao earlier, Teacher Jin was worried and thus decided to follow them from behind. Little did she expect that Qiao Weimin really was as Jing Yunzhao said; he was liable of hitting her so unhesitantly!

Even though Jing Yunzhao’s previous remark was really hard to believe, her mother was critically ill. It could’ve just been that Jing Yunzhao was too worried and started to act like a doctor. She was obviously admirably filial, so why was she getting beaten for that?

Qiao Weimin was someone who cared greatly about his own reputation. He glanced at Teacher Jin and pulled back his hand before saying, “Teacher Jin, this brat just loves to spew nonsense. If I don’t beat her, she’ll never learn!”
