Chapter 761 - A futile slash

761 A futile slash

“Hehe.” Mimi mischievously grinned.

“Since my man can not protect me anymore, I have to do his job at a cost.” Mimi winked at Vincent and added, “That means I require compensation adequate for...”

*Thud* Meaty’s body slammed to the ground with a loud thud. Slaveone stepped on Meaty’s large body and pulled his arm back to swing his sword at them.

*Tsk!* Mimi became angry to get interrupted. She wanted to tell Vincent a way to reward her, yet the enemy in front of them interrupted her.

Mimi tossed her rapier in the air. She moved her fingers, causing the bloody flying blade saw shield to speed toward Slaveone.

Vincent took a step back to let Mimi fight. He focused his gaze and looked at Slaveone’s status window.

A sigh of relief left his mouth after comparing Mimi and Slaveone’s current stats. While Mimi remained as powerful as she was before, the other could not be said for Slaveone’s case. His age was increasing, and his stats were decreasing.

.

[Name] Slaveone

.....

[Race] Human

[Age] 69

[Condition] Medium Injuries, Exhausted, Addictive Adrenaline (Minor Strength, Speed, and Perception Boost), Mutated Zerk Flow (Full body), High Slave Curse (Owner – Teriom Blackotter)

[Traits] Blood Tempered Body Stage Two, Mutated Balanced Body

[Class] Warrior

[Stats] Strength 83 || Agility 73 || Perception 69 || Mana 0

.

[No wonder he looks older. Slaveone became thirty-one years older in minutes, and his stats have greatly decreased.]

-Yeah. The helmet covering his head is hiding his hair color. Additionally, his body is covered with so much muscle that his skin barely has a visible wrinkle.-

[Don’t forget that the bizarre situation is similar to the other gladiators.]

[They can somehow use Full Zerk Flow, yet their stats keeps reducing the less their body becomes compatible with the mutation giving them the berserker class power.]

-So that is why you sometimes didn’t help me. You were in a world of your own.-

[Ahem... Or so is what I believe is happing to their bodies.]

Kazumi said to hide the fact she was greatly interested in how the gladiator’s bodies worked with the mysterious appearance of a new type of mutation.

Mimi stepped forward. Blood oozed from her fingernails. The blood quickly condensed and took the shape of a pointy blood nail.

As Mimi swung her hand at Slaveone’s swinging sword, the blood nails extended until they became four-inch tall blood claws.

Mimi was about to fight Salveone head-on. There was no Meaty helping Slaveone not receive a vital attack anymore. The chances of winning were high for her.

Most of the audience, looking at Mimi and Slaveone’s fight, held their breath in preparation for what was about to happen.

Inch by inch, the blade covered in energy from Wild Blow, and the five blood claws approached closer and closer. Their attacks were about to clash at any moment.

The blade met with the blood claws. The moment this happened, an unexpected thing happened. The blade easily slashed the claws as if they were liquid instead hardened like before.

Most of the audience was astonished to see the blade enter the bloody claws as pass them as if the sword was swung at jelly.

Mimi attacked with the intention of a fake attack instead of competing about who had the most powerful attack. The blood claws reattached and became complete faster than the blink of an eye.

Slaveone was also surprised by what was happening. He had put all his strength into overpowering Mimi and making a follow-up attack to defeat her, yet the plan worked against him.

As Salveone’s body leaned forward, the shield with sharp hardened blood edge spinning like a blade saw landed in his shoulder. As the shield kept spinning, blood gushed out like a fountain.

However, that was not all. The defenseless Slaveone received another attack in the same shoulder from the front. The attack came from none other than the rapier Mimi tossed in the air.

“Let’s see how attached your arm is.” Mimi taunted while sidestepping in the direction of the sword.

Mimi smirked and contorted her body. As she moved both arms toward the blade, the ten blood claws attached to her fingers became jelly-like. In the blink of an eye, the ten blood strings latched onto the wrist.

“Haa!” Mimi pulled Slaveone’s half-chopped arm with all her strength. Unfortunately for Slaveone, the arm became severed after the shield found it easier to cut the muscles keeping the arm attached to the body.

*Thud. Clang.* The arm holding the sword fell to the ground. The audience looking at their fight, quickly realized who the winners were now.

Previously, there was a chance for the surviving gladiator to turn the tide of the fight, but now it was too late to have such hopes. Those who bet against the Lionheart family were already about to start ripping their hair. The more money they bet and were going to lose, the worse their actions were.

The same could not be said for those few individuals who betted on the Lionheart family. They could not contain themselves from grinning or stop thinking about the winning money.

To them, the fight was unimportant. The judgment by combat was only entertainment to them.

On the other hand, those who had a relationship with the Lionheart family or were part of it were delighted the closer to victory the Lionheart team was.

While this situation was occurring, Ester and Awa’s fight was progressing to soon have a victor and a loser.

Ester, Awa, Night, and Zero worked together to overcome the challenge of the towering monstrous bear with hardened fur and skin while being able to quickly start regenerating the injuries it suffers from.

Previously, Ester reached the towering bear.

Ester stood a handful of meters in front of the bear. She heard impact noises and saw fragments of hard earth falling like light showers of rain.

Ester raised her gaze. She saw Awa and Night relentlessly attacking the bear without stopping or hesitation to slow down.

After experiencing multiple life-and-death fights with Vincent and Lupa, Ester’s instinct allowed her to quickly perceive what Awa and Night’s intentions were.

Ester believed the in two of them. Even if they got to know each other for a few days, she felt they were trusting her with the role of creating an opening and allowing them to turn the situation in their favor.

Ester suddenly heard the soil beside her foot shift, yet she did not perceive any malice. When her head leaned down and her eyes lowered, Ester saw a small vine pointing at her.

Ester slightly smiled at the little vine looking at her. She was able to confirm Zero was going to support their fight instead of Vincent and Mimi’s fight.

“Thank you, Zero. I will ask Iris to feed you extra seeds and the mana water of life thing she can make.” After Ester said this, she saw the vine gently tilt as if nodding.

“Hehe.” Ester could not help but giggle, even in the face of an opponent that would kill her with one good, mighty hit.

Awa and Night synchronized with each other, and their attacks were similar to there being an invisible mirror in between them.

When one attacked the left shoulder with a kick, the other would attack the right shoulder with a kick. Not only at the same time, but in the same approximate spot as well.

They did not need to waste time looking to learn of each other’s location. Their vision could be shared, and watching their bodies move from the view of the floating dark ball was similar to watching a local two-player game fighting a towering bear boss fight.

The bear did not remain still during the relentless attacks landing on its tough body. The bear swung its paws, shot waves of earth shards from its body, and tried to bite them when they got too close.

However, try as it might, Awa and Night could not be hit. When an earth spike created a hole in their shadow bodies, they lowered their tempo to continue attacking at the same time. When their injured shadow body recovered, they would recontinue fighting with all their speed and might.

Amie and Lamin held each other’s hand firmly while watching their daughter fight an animal that brought their clan so much suffering and nightmares.

Every time they saw their daughter or Night get injured, they became anxious while recalling Awa lying on the ground with her blood beneath her and about to die.

With the bear being mostly distracted from Awa and Night’s attacks, Ester could approach the bear’s leg while walking on her toes like a ballerina without being noticed.

Ester raised Elsir and covered the brightly white shining blade with the wind magic. As the wind gathered, condensed, and amplified, Ester prepared to see how much damage she could inflict.

Ester held her shining hiltless short sword firmly before swinging at the bear’s large and wide foot.

The hard fur covered with thick earth spikes took most of the slash’s might. The dampened wind slash cut a couple of inches deep in the bear’s foot, but that was all. It wasn’t enough to cause situation-changing damage.

A vine extended behind Ester. The vine opened its tip like a serrated mouth and bit Ester’s pants. The vine moved and started tugging.

Ester understood Zero was warning her it was dangerous. The damage Ester inflicted caused her to become detected by the bear.

“Thanks for the warning, Zero, but I can feel a lot of murderous pressure weighing on my shoulders.” She said while watching the wound she inflicted recovering and the earth rebuilding to cover the wound and allow the wound to recover safely.
