Chapter 3 Chaldea

Chapter 3 Chaldea

Year 2018.

That was the final moment Magecraft still existed.

Humanity created society, and a special group of people trying to seek the truth was called Magus.

Through the power called Magecraft, they could create miracles that would take a long time to achieve through science.

People with this power were called Magus.

Obviously, Magecraft and Magic were two different concepts. These so-called miracles were not all roses and sunshine as described in fairytales.

The power of Magecraft has been getting weaker and weaker as science developed.

Mysteries and miracles slowly disappeared in people’s heart as science progressed, there are fewer things that only Magecraft could achieve now.

Therefore, Magecraft and Science were two different paths that opposed each other.

The development of one side meant the decline of another, it wouldn’t be overrated to say that they couldn’t tolerate each other at all.

However, for the Magus, who grasped the power that science couldn’t explain yet and the scientists who will achieve what Magecraft couldn’t achieve, both shared the same long-term goal.

Magecraft and Science were used to bring humans prosperity. Any method that could be used to protect human history in the future should be used. Therefore a historic moment happened.

The creation of an organization to preserve the human order, Chaldea.

This is an organization established to protect the glorious and tenacious human history accumulated over the years, doing research and observation. It did not discriminate between Magecraft and Science with researchers of both areas, hidden on a snowy mountain six thousand meters in the air.

It was managed by a prestigious Magus family, the Animusphere Family. Depending on Magecraft alone was not enough, science was needed as well to observe and prevent scenarios that could endanger humanity.

That is Chaldea.

In this Chaldea facility, Magecraft and Science were not separated. They’re all cooperating to protect humanity.

In a modern white corridor, Rozen walked while yawning.

“So sleepy…”

While rubbing his teared up eyes, Rozen lazily walked in the corridor.

“Do your best senpai.” Mashu looked at Rozen and stopped playing with Fou on her shoulder. Frowning as she said, “If director sees you being this lazy, she’ll definitely…”

“Definitely throw a fit, right?” Rozen quickly finished what Mashu was about to say and curled his lip, “It’s like that old hag is constantly on her period, all she did was cursing everyone, even if I look more energetic she’ll still be angry.”

“It’s senpai’s fault for always ignoring the director’s instructions.” Without letting Rozen said anything, Mashu added, “Senpai, please refrain from annoying the director. Just be nice to her, okay?”

Hearing Mashu’s suggestion, Rozen responded with only one word.

“Impossible.”

Rozen said so without hesitation, “That woman and I are inborn enemies, don’t you know?”

Hearing this, Mashu really had no way to deny it.

As Rozen had mentioned, these two had always been on each other’s throat for as long as they could remember.

Rozen was such a typical lazy guy. He preferred to play games and surfing the web. The Director, on the other hand, was the exact opposite, coming from a Magus family and being the head of Chaldea, she had to maintain her reputation as a director and she could not allow any mistake.

That being the case, both of them were like fire and water. In the Director’s eyes, Rozen’s life and lazy personality were completely time-wasting. The two will always quarrel when they met.

It’s precisely because of that, Rozen purposefully muted his communicator, so he wouldn’t receive any form of communication from the director, thus bringing them back to the first square.

And every time they quarreled, Mashu always get caught between their argument, and of course, she couldn’t take either side…

“Is there any way to reconcile senpai and the director?”

This young girl couldn’t help but continuously think about the solution to the endless quarrel between these two. f𝐫ee𝘄ℯ𝚋no𝐯𝐞l.c𝘰m

After walking for a bit, Mashu’s footsteps suddenly stopped.

“Fu…?”

Fou made a puzzled noise from Mashu’s shoulder when she stopped petting it.

“Mashu?”

Rozen also stopped walking as he looked at Mashu in surprise. After a moment, he realized what happened as he looked to the side.

There was a window showing what was outside the facility. It’s just that it wasn’t a beautiful scene. The chilly cold wind blew through the whole place, which was covered by the snowy mountain as far as eyes could see.

The sky was like a white sea, not something to soothe one’s heart, really.

Mashu stood there looking at that scene. She is looking at the sky to be more accurate.

On her charming face there, there was a slight change of expression that one couldn’t easily notice.

That was the emotion called loneliness.

“Mashu.”

Rozen put his hand on Mashu’s shoulder to console her and asked in a soft voice, “Are you okay?”

“Un…” Mashu nodded, but she still stares at the sky and asked, “I heard that the real sky is blue, senpai.”

A scenery which will never be seen in Chaldea.

“Yes.” Rozen stared at the sky as well, as a strange emotion was shown in his eyes before immediately reverted into his usual lazy eyes, “It is very blue, Mashu you will be able to see it soon enough.”

These words were enough to cheer Mashu up.

“Ah…” Mashu appeared to have gotten out of her reverie as she covered her mouth, said with guilt, “Right…sorry senpai…senpai is…”

Rozen interrupted her and said, “It’s fine. Don’t overthink it.”

Rozen grinned and said to her, “We better hurry to the control room, or we’ll get scolded!”

“Un.” Mashu nodded. freℯ𝓌e𝚋𝐧𝘰vℯl.𝐜𝚘𝗺

The two people quickly walked forwards. As if the conversation just now has never happened.
