Chapter 246: Ultimate Spiderman III
Dave looked around the Helicarrier as they escorted him through its metallic corridors. The steady hum of machinery, the constant movement of agents, the faint scent of metal and coffee—it all brought back vague memories he never actually lived.
'Nothing much changed,' he thought. ' Its the same as one from mine'
He smirked quietly to himself as they turned a corner and approached a large, reinforced door that slid open with a soft hiss.
Inside stood Nick Fury, eyeing him with the kind of intensity that could unnerve a lesser man. But Dave? He just strolled in like he owned the place.
"Welcome, Mr. Dave Garcia," Fury said, voice firm but diplomatic. "It's good to finally have you here."
Dave glanced around, noting the S.H.I.E.L.D. tech scattered throughout the room and the subtle presence of agents pretending not to eavesdrop.
" You are different" Dave suddenly said as he looked at Fury.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Fury narrowed his eye, visibly confused by Dave's earlier comment.
Dave took a sip of the coffee an agent had handed him. "I meant... you're not the Fury I'm used to. The Fury from my universe was more... paranoid. Less trusting. Always three steps ahead. You?" He gave a half-smile. "You're almost approachable. It's weird."
Fury stared him down. "You're saying you're not from this universe?"
"Didn't I say that already?" Dave tilted his head, feigning surprise. "I thought it was obvious. Your world's kind of a Saturday morning special compared to mine. I mean—we are from different realities?" He chuckled.
As he turned, he spotted a familiar face walking in.
"Yo, Maria Hill" Dave said, eyes locking on her.
Hill froze mid-step, raising an eyebrow. "Do I know you?"
"Not really," Dave replied, sipping again. "But I know of you. You're kinda famous where I'm from and hot too, not that I am saying you are not a hotty here tooo."
"Where are you from?" she asked, voice calm but alert.
Dave turned back to Fury and Hill, his expression now more serious.
"Let me spell it out. I'm not from your Earth. I'm a soul from a completely different universe—ended up in this body by... let's call it hmmm, I am one multiversal trip."
Fury frowned. "So you possessed someone?"
"No. Kind of. Yes—? Look, it's complicated," Dave waved it off. "Think of it like this: the original guy's soul is sleeping wheil I am here."
Hill folded her arms. "And you're telling us this why?"
"Because lying to you is a waste of time," Dave shrugged. "You'd find out eventually, and then you'd just get annoyed. I figured it's better to be upfront... and also, I'm kind of curious to see how your version of SHIELD handles anomalies like me."
Fury exchanged a glance with Hill.
"So what now?" Hill asked.
Dave smiled. "Now? You either let me explore this world and then I wil be gone inone week, hmm, no one day already gobe by so just Six days"
Fury scratched his chin thoughtfully. "You're confident."
"No, I'm just honest," Dave said. "And I've got seven days in this body before it expires, so I'd rather not waste time arguing."
"I'm really just on one multiversal trip," Dave said casually as they escorted him back to the elevator. "See ya."
He turned, waving lazily before vanishing into the hallway.
None of them said a word. They just watched him leave—silent, thoughtful, and slightly unsettled.
After a long pause, Maria Hill glanced at Fury. "Do you believe what he said?"
Fury's jaw tightened slightly. "I do. And I know someone... someone with the ability to perceive the multiverse. She warned me weeks ago."
"Warned you?" Hill raised an eyebrow.
Fury nodded. "She said an anomaly might arrive soon. A being not bound by this world's rules. She told me—whatever you do, don't agitate him. Don't try to control him. If we push, we could get wiped out without even realizing what hit us."
Maria's eyes narrowed. "Then who is he, really?"
Fury looked out the helicarrier window, thoughtful. "Tell me... do you know anyone who can casually hop through multiverses and still act like it's just another Tuesday?"
Maria looked down, shaking her head. "No one. Not even Strange does it so... effortlessly."
"Exactly my point," Fury muttered.
He turned away from the window and headed down the corridor, motioning for Peter and his team to follow.
"You kids," he said to the young heroes, "from now on... keep an eye on him. Help him if you can. Just make sure he doesn't become a threat."
They exchanged unsure glances, the weight of the task settling in.
Dave stepped out of the sleek SHIELD transport vehicle that had returned him to the city. The hum of the city streets welcomed him—honking cars, chattering pedestrians, the ever-present distant sirens. He sipped his now lukewarm coffee, eyes lazily watching the skyline.
"Still Manhattan... but a shade different. Ads look cheaper," he muttered.
He pulled his hoodie over his head and shoved his hands in his pockets, walking aimlessly. But even as he walked, a system screen blinked softly in his vision:
[ Warning: Dimensional Anchor weakening. Body stability remaining time: 5 days, 11 hours ]
Dave sighed. "Time's ticking. Guess I better enjoy the ride before I either phase out... or the world tries to eat me."
His path took him through a park—not Central Park, but something smaller. Families gathered on benches, kids chased soccer balls, and a man in a trench coat played saxophone on a corner. Peaceful. Calm.
That's when a familiar presence tingled at the edge of his senses.
"...That aura." He stopped, slowly turning his head.
On the far end of the park, standing near an ice cream vendor, was a red-caped figure. She was watching him. Her glowing red eyes weren't threatening, but they weren't casual either.
"Wanda Maximoff..." Dave said under his breath, smirking. "Now this could be fun."
He strolled casually over, ice cream stand between them. She didn't move.
"You don't belong here." Wanda said, calm but direct.
Dave took a second, grabbed a cone from the vendor, handed the guy a $20, and licked it once before replying.
