THROW BACK...

When the maids left the room earlier, Harlow took the dress her sister offered. She stared at the plain green dress and went on with her plans. She planned to leave the Blackwood mansion today no matter what happens. She would never stay there and marry that old man never.

She wore the dress Claudia had given her since she had nothing else to wear and applied light makeup on her face. Still arranging her hair, the sudden knock on the door startled her.

Before she could answer, the door creaked open, and a man walked in uninvited, closing it firmly behind him.

"Miss Blackwood," he greeted, his thin lips curling into a strange, predatory smile.

Harlow stiffened. The man before her looked so old, his teeth almost the color brown as he watched her. He was a little bit taller than her, dressed in a black suit and no matter how much male up he applied on his face to hide his wrinkles, it still showed.

Harlow has never been more irritated in her life. She didn’t need anyone to tell her this was the infamous Mr. Eagle. The man her father always spoke about.

"Mr Eagle," Harlow called.

"So beautiful just like the pictures. I’m finally happy to see you." She didn’t respond to his compliment. She didn’t have the time for this tonight.

"Your father might have already told you about our wedding plans..."

"Yes, and that’s why I decided it was better I see you in person." Harlow started. "Mr Eagle, as you know, you’re older than my father, and as such, I cannot marry you. Even if you’re the last man on earth, I will never marry you." Harlow said firmly.

Nathan Eagle was silent for a moment and then he burst out laughing. He laughed and laughed to his heart’s content. "Did your father tell you you have no choice and that you’re the woman Nathan has chosen to be married to?" He moved close to her.

"Did he tell you you’re the woman I want to be with?" He stopped right in front of her and Harlow held her breath because of his bad breath.

"Did he tell you that he owes me and is using you to settle his debt, my pretty lady?" He moved his wrinkled hands on her cheeks. "Did he tell you, you belong to me now?" Nathan wrapped his fingers around her neck and pulled her close.

"You would do a good job as a wife and mother. I can see that." He let her go. Harlow could feel her heart beating so fast already. This man seems stronger than she imagined. She doubts she will be able to fight him off today.

Her plans of leaving the Blackwood mansion today, she doubts that would even be possible again.

"Nathan Eagle," Harlow said coldly, her voice firm despite the unease curling in her stomach.

"So beautiful, just like the pictures," he said, his voice dripping with false charm as his gaze raked over her. "I’m finally happy to see you in person."

Harlow didn’t respond to his compliment. She didn’t have the patience for pleasantries, not with a man like him.

"Your father has already discussed our wedding plans with you, hasn’t he?" Nathan began, stepping closer to her.

"Yes," Harlow replied, standing her ground. "And that’s why I need to make something very clear. You’re older than my father, Mr. Eagle. I cannot and will not marry you. Even if you were the last man on earth, the answer would still be no."

Nathan’s face remained neutral for a moment, but then he burst into laughter. The sound was chilling, echoing in the quiet room like a predator’s growl.

"Your father didn’t tell you, did he?" he said, his laughter fading into a dark smirk. "He didn’t tell you that you don’t have a choice. You’re the woman Nathan Eagle has chosen, and what I want, I get."

He stepped closer, and Harlow instinctively stepped back. She tried not to fret, but her body betrayed her, trembling under his looming presence.

"Did your father tell you," he continued, his voice low and menacing, "that he owes me? That you’re his payment? That you now belong to me?"

Harlow’s breath caught in her throat as Nathan reached out and ran his fingers down her cheek. The touch made her skin crawl. For a moment, she abruptly stopped breathing because of how badly his mouth reeked.

"You’ll make a fine wife and mother," he said with a sinister smile. "I can see that already."

Harlow jerked away from his hand, her heart pounding. She couldn’t let him intimidate her, but fear was creeping in, clawing at her composure.

"Mr. Eagle..." she began, her voice faltering slightly.

"Call me Nathan, my dear," he interrupted. "We’ll be married soon, after all."

Harlow swallowed hard, trying to mask her disgust. "What could my father possibly owe you that would justify this arrangement?" she demanded.

"That’s between me and Frank," Nathan replied dismissively. "If you’re so curious, ask him yourself. But that’s not why I came here tonight."

Before Harlow could react, Nathan grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward the bed. Her eyes widened in horror as he began loosening his tie and unbuckling his trousers. frёewebnoѵēl.com

"What are you doing?" she demanded, her voice rising with panic.

Nathan chuckled darkly. "I want to sample what Frank is offering. If I like it, we’ll proceed with the marriage. If I don’t..." He shrugged casually as if discussing a business transaction. "I’ll simply ask for the next daughter."

Rage and fear swirled inside Harlow as she yanked her arm away, backing toward the door. "This isn’t how marriage works! Let me go now!"

But Nathan was faster. He lunged forward, grabbing her by the shoulder and pulling her back. In the scuffle, the delicate fabric of her dress tore, and his hand struck her face with a resounding slap.

"Stupid woman!" he spat. "Do you think this is a game? Give me what’s mine!"

He shoved her onto the bed, his weight pressing down as he forced her legs apart. Harlow struggled desperately, kicking and thrashing, but Nathan was stronger than she’d expected. His hand clamped over her mouth, muffling her cries.

"No! Please stop!" she screamed, tears streaming down her face as she fought with everything she had. Her struggles earned her another brutal slap, this one drawing blood from her lip.

"Go on, shout all you want," Nathan sneered. "No one is coming to save you. They all know why I’m here."

Harlow’s heart sank. She realized he might be telling the truth. She wasn’t surprised her father had planned this. He had sent this old man to take advantage of her.

Summoning every ounce of strength, she clawed at his face, her nails raking across his skin. Nathan cursed loudly, momentarily stunned, and Harlow seized the opportunity.

"Help me!" she screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice raw and desperate. "Somebody, please help!"

All she wanted was to escape today, not get raped by an old man.

Nathan grabbed her by the hair and pulled her back to the bed. He got on her, and pressed both hands together on the bed with one of his as the other free hands moved around her body.

Harlow kept struggling, she couldn’t give up not yet...
