Chapter 26 - She Could Hold Her Liquor

Chapter 26 - She Could Hold Her Liquor

When Mars came home in the afternoon, he immediately went to his chamber to see Emmelyn, but he did not find the girl there.

"Where's Lady Emmelyn?" he asked the butler.

The middle-aged man bowed down to Mars and answered. "Lady Emmelyn is sitting reading in her chamber."

"HER chamber?" Mars frowned. Ahh ... he just remembered that after catching Emmelyn about to kill him yesterday, he ordered his bodyguards to lock up the girl in a room on the third floor.

[Ha. She thought that was her chamber?]

Mars crossed his arms across his chest and gave his butler's orders. "Bring Lady Emmelyn here and all her belongings. Starting today, she will stay in my chamber with me."

The butler was stunned. He lifted his head and looked at Mars with an astonished face. He was one of the few people in this castle who knew who Emmelyn really was. Emmelyn bribed him three gold coins last month to place her as Prince Mars' personal servant.

And it turned out ... that servant was actually a lady? And ... and Prince Mars didn't hate her? In fact ... he wanted to take her to stay together in his chamber?

Was this Lady Emmelyn's real aim to go undercover in this castle? So, she wanted to seduce the prince and become his bedwarmer?

Wahhh ... The butler smiled faintly. Well then, Lady Emmelyn was indebted to him. Because of him, now the girl could be the crown prince's bedmate. Ha. If the prince later married her, then she would be the next queen. How wonderful!

"Yes, Your Highness. I will soon bring Lady Emmelyn here," said the butler respectfully.

"Roshan... don't tell anyone about Lady Emmelyn's origins," said Mars suddenly as the butler turned to go through the door. The middle-aged man turned his head in surprise. Mars continued his words. "If the king and queen heard about it ... I will chop off your head."

Gulp. Roshan unconsciously grabbed his neck and swallowed hard. "Understood, Your Highness."

Half an hour later, two soldiers came with Emmelyn to Mars' chamber. The girl's face looked sullen.

"Why did you tell me to move here? I like my room ..." the girl scoffed. Her hands were akimbo, looking at Mars who was sitting leisurely by the window, enjoying a cup of wine.

The young man just raised his face and looked at Emmelyn in an indifferent manner. He pointed to the chair in front of him. "Wine?"

Emmelyn knew this bastard had a very good and expensive wine collection. Only the best for a royal crown prince from a kingdom as big as Draec.

Emmelyn really liked wine. Because of that, without being asked twice, she immediately sat down.

Mars motioned to his bodyguards to leave. They immediately bowed respectfully and walked out of the room. They closed the door behind them. After they left, Mars poured red-wine from the jug into a beautiful cup made of silver and handed it to Emmelyn.

"This is a typical wine from the south. Southberry sends it as tribute every month to us. They have the best wines on the continent. That's why we always have an ample supply," Mars said without being asked.

Emmelyn, who was frowning, couldn't frown anymore after her lips tasted the wine in her cup. Ahhh ... it's delicious. Even the best wines in Wintermere were nothing compared to the wine she was now enjoying.

"What did you do today?" asked Mars, sipping his wine. He watched the girl closely. His lips were smiling when he saw Emmelyn could hold her liquor.

He had hardly had any contact with women in his entire life, because of that damn curse, but he had heard a lot from his soldiers as well as his cousins how most noblewomen behaved.

Those ladies were graceful and delicate as porcelain. Men must always maintain their manners and speech in front of the ladies. No cursing, because they had delicate ears. They must always be protected. And, usually, women couldn't drink much.

In short .. women seemed boring, except when it came to sex. They're good for sex and producing heirs.

But ... this girl in front of him wasn't boring at all. Sure, she looked gentle when she was sitting still, but Mars knew she was not at all weak and delicate like porcelain, as what he had heard from other men around him.

This girl could fight. Well, even though her strength was not enough to hurt Mars, but seeing her movements, and her grudge against him yesterday, he could conclude that Emmelyn was not an ordinary girl.

She could use weapons. She was also not shy about food. They had eaten together several times, and Emmelyn always ate a lot. And now ... ah, she also seemed good at drinking.

What a perfect woman!

Emmelyn frowned when she heard the man.

[What is this? Are we going to share how our days went from now on? Tch...]

The girl rolled her eyes. "I went to see the cooks and tell them about my favorite foods."

"Why didn't you write them down?" Mars asked attentively.

"You forget my hand still hurts? I can't write using my left hand," said Emmelyn. "None of the servants here can read anyway."

"Ahh .. you're right," Mars nodded in understanding. "You're so clever. I told you to write down a list of the foods you like so you can give them to me or to Roshan, the butler. Let him take care of them."

"Oh ..." Emmelyn just shrugged. "No need. I've spoken to the cooks. We'll see if they understand."

"Okay. We'll see how they do during dinner tonight," said Mars, lifting the wine jug and pointing at Emmelyn's empty cup. The girl's face brightened when Mars poured her another cup of red wine.

Tips to get men to buy you (alcoholic) drinks in bars (I no longer do this coz I've become old and boring): Say, "I never drink before," or "Oh... I am never drunk. I can hold my liquor".

They'll be happy to see you drink and get drunk, to prove to you that you WILL GET DRUNK. Since I am half fish (sometimes I told people I am half Irish), I could easily drink 5-6 glasses without even feeling tipsy and go home in one piece.
