Chapter 11 - Interview (The End)
Chapter - 11
*Snap! The pen in her hand broke.
"Are you alright?" Alex walked towards her and held her hand to look.
The PR head tried to pull away, but Alex had gripped her hand quite well, "Quit moving and let me see," Alex rebuked her.
The other ladies in the room giggled when they saw the scene unfold in front of her. This was the second time the guy got intimate with their boss, and she could do nothing.
"I am fine, Mr Rutherford. Please stop creating a scene and take your seat," The PR head told Alex.
"Indeed, nothing more than a scratch. I must say you don't look like it, but you are quite masculine,"
"Let's not beat around the bush and get back to the job at hand," the PR head insisted, and before Alex could say anything, she continued, "Mr Rutherford, it's true that we said that we are going to overlook the educational background of the applicants, but don't you think your resume is very much lacking in that aspect? Instead, you have a bunch of informal certifications here."
When the ladies heard their boss, they made faces. If it was already said, why is their boss nitpicking on this cutie?
"To be honest, I don't have them," Alex replied, "I told you, the reason I tried to do my best in the first round of the interview was to compensate for what my resume was lacking."
"Can I ask you why you don't have the records? You don't look like someone who would drop out of school or college," the PR head said.
"Well, it's kind of a long story, "Alex said, then he laid back on his chair a little and with his arms crossed, he started, "It was during the same time last year that I got into an accident, and ended up in a hospital with no memories of my past. And the couple who took care of me during that time later took me to their home and adopted a giant like me, hehehe... They gave me a name, an identity, a home to stay and above all, treated me like their own soon, maybe even better. You know..." Alex kept on rambling about how great his parents were, nonstop.
"Mr Rutherford..." It was only when he was interrupted did he notice that he had gone off-course the main point.
"Ohh... Sorry... Well, I will always be grateful to them," Alex didn't forget to mention this, "Now, coming back to the topic. As you can see, I don't know anything about my past. What I did? Where I come from? Nothing at all. I may have been a small-time thug, a wanted criminal or maybe an assassin, "Alex said, making a gun using his hands and pointing it towards the three ladies and winked.
"In short, this is the reason I don't have anything related to my educational details. There is a note from the doctor who treated me at the end. You can refer to it for a detailed report." Alex said. Just as Alex said, there was indeed a note by a doctor at the end. The PR head went through it quickly while the other three ladies stared at Alex with sympathy, pity, love and what not dripping from their eyes.
The PR head quickly asked Alex a couple of other questions before closing his file, marking the end of the interview.
"Thank you, Mr Rutherford," The PR head said, "We will let you know the status of your application within a week."
"I will be waiting," Alex nodded at her, "Thank you, and I hope you all have a good day," and with the final greetings exchanged, Alex walked out of the room.
Soon after Alex left, the other three ladies also left the room after some discussion with the PR head. When she was alone, the PR head picked up her phone and called someone.
"So, how was it? Anyone up to your standards?" As soon as the phone was picked up, she cut to the chase.
"Two of them. I will send you the names", a woman with a cold, unenthusiastic voice was heard saying from the other side.
The camera was not just for recording the interviews, but it was also broadcasting it live to a certain someone in the company.
"You know, I could have handled this on my own. You should have trusted me on this," The PR complained, but care was evident in her tone.
"I trust you," the woman from the other side said.
"Then you should try to lean on me a bit more, and I am not saying this just as a colleague of yours, but also someone who cares about you a lot more than you can imagine," The PR head told the woman.
"I know. I will try to,"
"Ok! Now that we have established that. I hope you send your recommendations before office hours. I don't plan on working overtime just for this,"
"I will," the woman said and hung up. 𝐟re𝐞w𝐞𝒃𝓃𝒐𝐯𝚎𝒍.c૦𝚖
The PR head continued to stare at her phone even after the call ended, and finally shaking her head, she tidied the table, grabbed her stuff and walked out of the room closing the door behind.
