Chapter 578 Rejecting Xia Wan’s Treatment

Chapter 578 Rejecting Xia Wan's Treatment

"Miss Xia, is there an issue?" Dr. Fang inquired after entering the ICU, addressing Xia Wan.

"Dr. Fang, surely I needn't remind you. We've just performed an emergency procedure on the patient yesterday," Xia Wan said with a firm tone.

"Absolutely!" Dr. Fang's expression grew serious. "We haven't forgotten."

"But it seems you've overlooked something crucial!" Xia Wan's tone was more assertive.

Dr. Fang paused, taking a moment to compose himself. "And what might that be?" he asked.

"Why hasn't the patient been scheduled for a CT scan yet?" Xia Wan's gaze was piercing, her tone sharp.

Her look suggested she saw Dr. Fang as a negligent physician.

Dr. Fang momentarily lost for words, turned to the nurse. "Didn't Professor Zhang send the examination report?"

"I haven't received it," the nurse responded promptly, not hesitating.

Dr. Fang's face showed a mix of emotions. He turned to Xia Wan, admitting, "I apologize. This oversight is on us."

Dr. Fang then hurriedly left the ICU.

He quickly filled out the examination application form in the observation room, and handed it to the bewildered doctor's assistant before returning to the ICU.

Meanwhile, Xia Wan was checking Shi Yu's wrist.

Despite his weakened state, Shi Yu had strength in his push, batting Xia Wan's hand away.

"Who are you?" he asked in a not-so-friendly tone. "What are you doing?"

"I'm here to treat you," Xia Wan replied, halting her gesture.

"You? A woman?" Shi Yu looked at her incredulously, raising his voice.

"What's wrong? Do you have an issue with women?" Xia Wan's response was equally unfriendly.

Shi Yu just glared at her, not uttering a word.

Tired of the nonsense, Xia Wan turned to Dr. Fang. "Proceed with the examination. I'll return once we have the results."

"It's late in the day. Even if the examination is completed today, the results won't be available for another two days," Dr. Fang expressed with a hint of helplessness.

Xia Wan's brow furrowed.

She realized that the technology wasn't advanced enough for immediate video results, presenting a complication.

As Xia Wan pondered her next move, Shi Yu spoke up.

"I don't need treatment from a woman! Let her leave!" he demanded, weakly gesturing towards the door.

"Are you certain?" Xia Wan asked, before Dr. Fang could intervene.

"Absolutely!" Shi Yu asserted.

"Very well!" Xia Wan agreed without hesitation, signaling to Lin Chao, who had just arrived. "He refuses my treatment."

"I have no further business here, so I'll take my leave."

As Xia Wan made for the door, Lin Chao was visibly distressed.

Rushing to the ICU door without regard for sterility, Lin Chao pleaded, "You can't leave!"

Xia Wan, hand on the door, turned to see Lin Chao's anxious face at the window.

"The patient declined my assistance," she explained calmly.

"Moreover, the medical staff here can adapt their approach to his condition," she added, glancing at Dr. Fang, who appeared deeply embarrassed, nearly ready to apologize publicly once more.

Meanwhile, Lin Chao seemed to wish he could scold Shi Yu through the window.

"Shi Yu!" Lin Chao bellowed. "Behave! Miss Xia is here to save your life!"

"If you wish to collaborate with me post-recovery, then heed Miss Xia's advice!"

Lin Chao's stern words seemed to have an effect; Shi Yu withdrew his hand submissively.

Lin Chao then turned to Xia Wan with a pleading look. "Miss Xia, please overlook his ignorance. He's young; don't be upset with him!" freewebnov(e)l

Shi Yu, observing Lin Chao's rare humility, dared not even breathe loudly.

Xia Wan released the door handle, stepping back. "Alright, I accept your request."

"However, I indeed have nothing else to attend to today."

"Correct?" she asked, directing her question to Dr. Fang.
