Chapter 7

Chapter 7: Campus guide

“Alright then. There will be a welcome party tonight. After this, I will bring you guys to the dormitories and show you around the campus along the way. Year 2 students will help to look after you guys, so make sure to listen to what they say. If you have anything that you don’t understand, ask your senpai.

Lessons will start from tomorrow. Make sure to not be late for your classes. All you need to bring are writing utensils. That’s all. Any question?”

There was no question asked, and so the homeroom session ended. Hugan led them out to show around the campus.

“Razé-chan!” Folia immediately rushed towards Razé. Other than the two of them, there were no other commoner in the class. So, there was no doubt that she was being relied on.

Folia: “You’re a scholarship student? Sugoi[1]! I was really surprised.”

Razé: “Your specialty healing magic surprised me too. My teleportation skill was very ordinary. I’m so jealous of you.”

Folia: “Not at all! You are the first person I’ve ever met whose specialty is movement magic. There are many types of magic, and I think each and every one of them are all great.”

Folia smiled, her face looked like a young and pure angel. And her voice sounded like a bell, it was very comfortable listening to her talk.

“You’re right. Thanks” said Razé frankly while looking at the charm (a tool or accessory with magic stones) on Folia’s arm. The bracelet-type charm was adorned with a white magic stone. Using a stone that matched the attributes of one’s specialty would improve the quality of their magic. Razé thought it was a good choice.

Razé: “Cute charm.”

Folia: “Thanks. Yours is the pierced-earrings? Isn’t it scary to get a piercing?”

Razé: “Huh? The piercing was done using magic, it was fine. I prefer earring because I won’t lose it.”

Raze’s earrings were embedded with stone that was neatly cut. The pierced earrings were magically fastened, so it won’t fall off even if she bounced around.

This was not a fashion accessory; it was something made by the military. It was no exaggeration to say that it was for combat use. It was totally different compared to the charms used by the aristocrats which has high quality design.

However, the size of a magic stone was not proportional to the strength of the magical power contained within it. What was important was the strength of the monster itself and whether the core part of the harvested magic stone could be carved out well.

The magic stone that Razé wore was harvested by herself and was processed by an excellent friend in the army. So even if it was small, it was powerful enough.

If the person who wore the charm couldn’t bring out the power of the magic stone, then it was just a pebble. Needless to say, her skill in utilizing magic stone was top notch.

Well, it was not something that can be confirmed with just a simple glance. So, nobody would realize how powerful Razé was.

Hugan: “This is the training ground. The clock tower over there is the teachers’ building. Don’t go there if there is no emergency. There is a flower garden in the east. But be careful because you will get scolded if you mess the ground.”

Once they went out of the corridor, they saw a huge field. It seemed that this was the training ground.

And on the other side, there was a tower with a clock at the top. Its gothic architecture with detailed design was beautiful. The teachers were living in the campus too, so that was an important private space.

I should go take a look at the flower garden next time, thought Razé.

Folia: “The campus is very spacious.”

Razé: “Yeah …”

As someone who had went around scouting here and there, Razé didn’t really feel that the campus was huge. What got her attention was the barriers that enclosed the academy.

Unlike the other students, she looked in the distance and wonder how far the defense area covered. But she knew that she would cause trouble if she went to check on it. So, of course she won’t do it.

They turned back the way they came and turned left at the end of the corridor. When they went out the door, they saw a cobblestone road with a gate at the end of it.

Hugan: “The other side is <Fiza Shopping District>. It is an area that was created based on commoner townscape. For those of you who usually were unable to casually go out, you can shop here with no worries. There are various stores available, so you should be able to enjoy it.”

Hearing this made the students excited with joy. For a commoner, there was nothing special about going to a shopping district. But to these kids, it was something like visiting a theme park.

It was not easy being an aristocrat too, thought Razé. And then, she saw something shocking.

“Adis-sama, would you like to visit the shopping district together next time?”

“Hey, I was going to ask him out first!”

“No, go with me!”

“Adis-sama, will you go with me during the next holiday?”

— ……….what the hell is this situation?!

Before she knew it, the Grim Reaper’s son was already collecting harem[2] with the female students in their class. Razé was stunned and observed the small crowd. She wondered how the Grim Reaper’s son would answer those girls.

Adis: “Thank you for the invitation. Why don’t we all go together next time?”

The girls: “Kyaa~!!”

Razé: “….. wow”

Carna: “What a joke.”

Hearing another voice of criticism, Razé turned to look towards Carna who was standing on the other side of Folia.

Carna: “I’m glad to see a comrade.”

Razé: “Mortens-sama …”

Razé looked at Carna Foote Mortens, the only daughter of the Foreign Minister. Although she was different from the cute Folia who she thought would looks good with light purple ringlet curls, Carna could be described as the beautiful type. When she laughed, the mole under her eyes looked sexy. Razé was totally mesmerized by her.

Carna: “Those crowd of people are such a joke. I’m glad there is someone who can carry on an intelligent conversation.”

Razé: “No, not at all.”

Carna: “Fufufu, don’t be so humble. This is a place where people who passed the same exam gathered. And you are the scholarship student. I think you should be more confident with yourself. Razé-san and Folia-san, you can call me Carna.”

It was an honor to be able to talk to the highest-ranked female student in Class A. Razé smiled happily.

Razé: “Understood, Carna-sama. I’m delighted to make your acquaintance.”

Folia: “Ca- Carna-sama. Can I be your acquaintance too?”

Carna: “Of course. I have long decided that I must befriend you, Folia-san.”

Her words sounded like she had known Folia since long before. Razé felt a bit strange hearing it, but she thought that maybe Carna meant that she wanted to talk to Folia during the entrance ceremony because she was so cute. She then chose not to think about it anymore.

Adis: “Oh, right. Prince Ruben! Claude! Do you guys want to join us?”

When Razé heard Adis calling out to Ruben, she turned to look at the crowd. With that one sentence, more girls gathered surrounding Adis.

–Aah, the other boys in the class are so pitiful.

Even Prince Ruben was letting out a sigh. Claude Orr Lesir, who had the same nanny with Prince Ruben was also giving a cold look from under his glasses towards Adis.

The people in this world grew a bit faster compared to the world in Razé’s previous life. She thought there were lots of young adults who looked mature, but she didn’t expect that there would be a guy who would act like an adult like this.

She sent a pitiful look towards the boys in her class.

Razé: “He’s kind of amazing, in a different way.”

Folia: “Y-Yes, right. It seems fun going shopping in a group.”

She has such a pure heart, thought Razé as she grabbed Folia’s hand.

Razé: “I will go with you. So Folia, make sure you stay the way you are.”

Folia: “Oh, you would go with me?”

Razé: “Un.”

Folia: “Yeay!”

They have just met for a few hours only but Razé would not let Folia became his prey. Such a pure girl, she could be easily fooled by the bad guy. So dangerous.

Razé: “Carna-sama, would you like to join us?”

Carna: “Of course. I’d be glad to. Thank you for inviting me.”

Carna nodded her head and broke into a broad smile. Honestly, if I’m a guy, I would totally have fell in love seeing that smile, thought Razé who unconsciously holding two pretty ladies by her side.

[1] sugoi: A very commonly used phrase, it is a compliment that mean ‘you’re so great’ or ‘awesome’. ↩

[2] The author likes to describe Adis with the phrase 女子を侍らせる which literally mean ‘being waited upon by girls’. This phrase is not used in modern day life. It refers to the feudal lord with his female servants. I’ll just translate it to ‘Adis with his fangirls/harem’. ↩
