Chapter 66 - Identification
66 Identification
Luo Shun adjusted his presbyopia glasses. “You’re so young but you can already identify between jade and agate?”
“Of course not, but the difference between your agate and jade is too great. Even a layman would be able to tell at a glance.” As Xi Wan spoke, she walked up to the stage and said, “Take a look for yourself. There are many impurities in this bracelet. If it’s a pure jade, there definitely won’t be any impurities in it. In addition, I can see that this one has a lot of impurities so it might be the most worthless chalcedony.”
Luo Shun was so angry that his eyes and mouth twitched as he retorted loudly, “What do you mean by that? Are you questioning my identification skills? I’ve been engaged in the gem appraisal industry for decades and I’ve never made a wrong judgment before!”
Xi Wan said, “Today’s identification will be your first mistake then. You can take a closer look if you don’t believe me…”
Luo Shun threw the bracelet before she could finish her sentence. “You’re a young girl who was not educated well! How dare you come here to frame someone?!”
Xi Wan did not explain further. Instead, she picked up the bracelet on the ground. The bracelet had been smashed and there were bits of debris all around it.
“If it’s jade, the gap would be smooth and neat.” Xi Wan handed the bracelet to the organizer. “But the gap in this bracelet is not only irregular but it also has a lot of debris which should be the fine ore inside.”
Xi Wan’s words made sense and the organizer was also skeptical. Luo Shun was an appraiser that he had hired at a high price and he had been in the industry for decades. So, he naturally believed in Luo Shun’s appraisal ability.
However, Xi Wan was also Su Xun’s wife, so she was not someone he could afford to offend.
Just like that, the organizer wavered between the two of them. As long as someone stood up and said a word at this time, he would be able to take advantage of the situation to break the awkwardness.
Someone did stand up to speak, but it was Su Xun.
He strode onto the stage with his long legs and said, “I trust my wife.”
Xi Wan originally thought that Su Xun was here to undermine her but she did not expect him to be on her side. She was a little dumbfounded for a moment. “You trust me? ”
Su Xun said indifferently, “I naturally have no reason to trust outsiders since you are my wife. I’ve already put my words out here so you better not embarrass me.”
The system was very excited. [Did you see that? The antagonist is speaking up for you!]
He looked like a fan who liked to watch those couples show off their love on screen and would go around enjoying such scene everywhere. However, Xi Wan was somewhat surprised. “Why did Su Xun speak up for me? He can’t be thinking of making me owe him a favor, right?”
The system replied: [Xi Wan, you’re really extremely stubborn!]
Luo Shun was old, so he did not know much about the current business tycoons. He did not know the people in front of him and thought that they were just an ordinary rich couple who had come to make trouble. So, he spoke even more freely, “Could it be that this young girl knows she’s in the wrong so she specially found her husband to come and support her? I can’t stand people like you the most. Do you think you can do whatever you want just because you have money? Why did you have to say that such a fine Jade is agate?!”
His spittle flew all over the place as he spoke, almost landing on Xi Wan’s face.
Xi Wan instinctively hid behind Su Xun and said, “If you’re really so unconvinced, why don’t you call some other appraisers over and see if their results are the same as yours then?”
When Luo Shun heard this, he was even angrier, and the wrinkles on his face almost flattened as he said, “What do you mean by that? I’ve been in this line of work for decades so how many appraisers can be better than me? You’ll only get the same result if you spend money to get them here!”
The organizer was also in a difficult position. Although there were a few professional appraisers in the auction hall, they were not as experienced as Luo Shun. Therefore, they were also willing to regard Luo Shun as a senior and completely believed in Luo Shun’s identification results.
If he were to spend money to hire another appraiser, he would also have to spend a lot of money. It would also be fine if the result was different but what if the result was the same? If this fine jade bracelet was already destroyed and he did not know how much he would lose in this auction.
Even though the bracelet was damaged by Luo Shun, he was invited by the organizer after all. The organizer could not stoop so low as to ask for compensation.
Xi Wan looked at her nails and said nonchalantly, “Isn’t it just because you feel distressed about money? I’ll pay. You just have to invite the best and most professional gem appraiser. If the end result is that I misunderstood this appraiser Luo, I’ll compensate you for this bracelet as well.”
As soon as these words came out of her mouth, not to mention the people present but even Su Xun was stunned.
These two items would add up to at least a million!
