Chapter 8: Dog Man.

Chapter 8

The Bald Man's expression instantly became twisted in pain, followed by a stream of swear words pouring out, "Damn! Do you wanna die? Do you know who I am?!"

Yu Na stood in place at a loss, feeling extremely surprised by Xiao Chen's sudden appearance.

Before she could react, Xiao Chen grabbed the Bald Man's wrist and twisted it tighter, "I don't care who you are."

The pain caused the Bald Man's features to crumple up into a ball on his fat face.

He was drunk and in a daze, slurring his words, "Oh, she your girlfriend?" Looking back and seeing that although Xiao Chen was taller than him, he wasn't as fat, so he wasn't as afraid. He took it a step further and said, "Your girlfriend didn't look after herself well, letting her come out dressed so slutty in the middle of the night to seduce—"

Xiao Chen's expression suddenly darkened. He lifted his foot and fiercely kicked the back of the Bald Man's knee. The Bald Man momentarily lost his balance and staggered clumsily to his knees, following Xiao Chen's force.

"Say that again?"

The Bald Man cursed, "Let me go! F*ck your mom!"

Xiao Chen just coldly spat out two words: "Apologize."

At this time the Bald Man didn't have any helpers. He had drunk too much and couldn't even walk steadily. He was no match for Xiao Chen at all.

The last shred of sobriety told him to hurry up and run.

Because he saw Yu Na holding up her phone, seeming to be gathering evidence.

Xiao Chen was also becoming impatient. He grabbed the man's wrist and fiercely twisted it in the opposite direction again, as if reminding him, I don't have patience to wait for you.

The Bald Man's wrist was being gripped tightly by him. He didn't know where this guy got his freakish strength from.

He only knew that cold sweat was beading on his forehead and the pain was sobering him from his drunkenness.

He had no choice but to admit defeat. Gritting his teeth, he used the harshest tone to say the most cowardly words: "Sorry, let me go. I'm leaving."

Xiao Chen coldly snorted, "That's it? I thought you'd be harder to deal with."

The Bald Man frowned, with an expression of pain, "Aren't you awesome enough, my wrist is about to be twisted off by you!"

Xiao Chen instantly released him. Before the Bald Man could get up, Xiao Chen stamped down on his calf with one foot, while using one hand to fiercely press down on his shoulder.

The sudden slackening only lasted one or two seconds before the suppressing force covered him again.

The Bald Man was truly anxious now: "F*ck, I already apologized. What more do you want?!"

Xiao Chen bent down, looking at him from above, speaking extremely slowly, "Don't let me see you again. Get lost."

After saying this, he completely released the man.

The Bald Man was unwilling to give up and wanted to sneak attack him.

At this time, Yu Na raised her phone and waved it in front of the Bald Man's face twice, "Put away your intentions. I have video recordings of everything here."

"......"

The Bald Man gave up the idea of sneak attacking. He cursed while running away.

Xiao Chen retracted his gaze, shifting it onto Yu Na.

She maintained the phone raising action. Visibly shaking.

It looks like she was truly frightened.

Xiao Chen spoke disdainfully: "What, isn't he just a wimp. You're that flustered?"

He hadn't even used his best moves yet.

"It's easy to talk when you're not the one being attacked." Having escaped danger, Yu Na was still scared afterwards. "With your strength, of course you're not afraid."

"You're not stupid either. Frightened like this, yet you still knew to record video."

Yu Na put her phone back into her pocket and calmly said, "I didn't record."

Xiao Chen: ?

Yu Na: "I was just pretending, to scare him."

Who would've thought that guy was dumb enough to fall for it.

Scared with one bluff.

Xiao Chen suddenly laughed softly: "Not bad."

"......" What kind of reaction is this?

Neither had expected their next private meeting to be under these kinds of circumstances.

Xiao Chen didn't ask Yu Na why she was now living in Changwan. Nor ask how she had been over the past few years.

Those classic questions for old friends catching up, he didn't ask any of them at all.

He only asked: "What are you doing out so late at night?"

"There was a power outage at home." Yu Na pointed in the direction not far away, "I wanted to come eat something here, but didn't expect to run into a hooligan." 𝗳re𝗲𝚠e𝐛n𝗼v𝗲l.c𝐨𝐦

Xiao Chen followed her pointing direction and saw she was indicating the food stall not far away.

He didn't know why, but seeing her appear at this barbecue stall gave him a strong yet inexplicable sense of discordance.

Xiao Chen asked: "Your dad allows you to eat this stuff?"

"He can't control me anymore. I live on my own now. I eat whatever I want."

"I see."

That was all he said, still not asking why.

He truly wasn't curious about her current situation at all.

He's still the same as before - responsible and reliable. Being with him, there was nothing to be afraid of and nothing to worry about.

But he had always been like this, clearly distinguishing between friendship and love.

With today's incident, no matter who it was, no matter if he knew them or not, he would have stepped forward to help.

She had never been his exception. She was merely one among his world.

Yu Na gently sniffed and circled around him. Not asking how he came to be here either.

Her tone was light, like she was speaking to a mere stranger she had only met once. "Thanks for today. I'm going home first."

She had assumed he would only respond with an "Okay" at most, maybe adding a "Get home safely."

But instead he went against expectations by taking the initiative to ask: "You're not eating barbecue anymore?"

Yu Na's heart involuntarily trembled.

"I want to eat—" She deliberately left a hook for him, pitifully saying: "But I don't dare to."

She thought to herself, take the bait.

Take the bait!

Several seconds passed without him speaking. He seemed to be struggling with or pondering something.

Finally, he tentatively asked: "Do you want me to accompany you?"

No way. Could her words not have been obvious enough?

Why was this bastard asking it like a question?

How was she supposed to respond?

Yu Na silently cursed him for being a dense piece of wood. Forcing herself, she acted like she was reluctantly agreeing: "Fine."

"But—"

Xiao Chen suddenly popped out these three words.

Yu Na's heart sank. She instantly had a bad premonition.

And it turned out her fears were right. Somewhat awkwardly, he scratched his head and breathlessly said: "I have something to do later and can't accompany you to eat."

"......"

Then what was the point of all that!

How can he be such a d*ck!

Yu Na's heart plunged to rock bottom. Annoyed, she lightly responded with an "Oh."

"You can take it home to eat," Xiao Chen said. "It's safer if you buy it back."

Yu Na was about to say there was no electricity at home!

But her phone kept vibrating nonstop in her pocket. Taking it out for a look, ten minutes ago the residents in the community WeChat group were saying power had been restored.

The timing couldn't have been better.

"Got it."

Yu Na really was quite hungry, so she followed Xiao Chen's suggestion to buy food back home to eat.

Xiao Chen could tell Yu Na felt let down, but he thought she only wanted to sit here to eat. After all, the taste of eating barbecue here versus taking it home was different. However, he truly did have important matters to attend to shortly.

There was going to be a large event held in Changwan tomorrow. The venue was at the S Hotel. He had to go take a look at the preparation progress there.

Xiao Chen decided he had already meddled in this incident, so he may as well see it through. Taking a step back, he said: "What do you want to eat? I'll buy it for you."

Yu Na's gaze lingered on him for a brief two seconds, before bluntly saying without any reservation: "Sure."
