Cloaking himself once more in illusion magic, Eren’s mind raced.

The Reaper’s berserk pattern... it was familiar.

Eren quickly recognize its deadly attack that looks similar to the Predator Ghoul’s berserk mode from the game. High-speed multi-slash combos, like laser beams that moves so fast. Except—the Abyssal Reaper’s attack was more deadly than the Predator Ghoul, as one hit from these things can toast him and end his life in a second.

Sure enough, the Reaper raised its sword again.

–SLICE×¹⁰!

–BANG!

Even more destruction tore through the chamber. The walls crumbled, the floor cracked open, and even the ceiling had started to fall apart.

Eren dodged desperately, twisting his body mid-air, narrowly avoiding most of the attack. But two slashes hit him again—blocked only by the shimmering shield. It was starting to flicker.

He cursed under his breath.

The magic scrolls in his inventory were already used up. His storage ring had shields, sure—but none of them stood a chance. They’d get sliced in half like tofu.

And the Reaper wasn’t letting up.

–SLICE×¹⁰!

–BANG!

Eren focused everything into his evasion—but he was a split-second too slow, as he failed to avoid one hit.

A red line slashed across his left leg, cutting clean through.

"Gghh—!"

He collapsed with a groan, blood pooling beneath him. Gritting his teeth, he grabbed his severed leg and held it tight. He pulled out an elixir and quickly poured it over the wound. A golden light enveloped the injury as the healing potion reattached the limb.

Now, Eren only has four elixirs in his ring

[Master, watch out!] Useless’s voice screamed in his mind.

Snapping his head up, Eren saw the Reaper already winding up another strike.

–SLICE×¹⁰!

–BANG!

He dove to the side. Four crimson lines just missed his head and chest—but two sliced into his right arm, severing it completely.

He groaned again, teeth clenched, and fumbled for another elixir. Pouring it over the stump, he felt the pain subside as his arm reattached.

’This is getting ridiculously annoying!’

Now with only three elixirs left, he had not much choice.

’Just when it will end!’ Eren gritted his teeth with frustration.

The Reaper was too strong in its finally state—his only chance was to survive until it wore off.

Just like the Predator Ghoul in the game, the berserk state couldn’t last forever. Once it ended, the boss would enter a cooldown (exhausted) phase—leaving it sluggish and vulnerable.

If he could just hold out...

–Ding!

But the system had other plans.

But then, as to mock his plan, a glowing holographic panel popped up right in front of his face, showing the quest’s timer.

Defeat the Boss of the Aberration Dungeon, The Abyssal Reaper, within one hour, under the following conditions:

Seeing the system warning that only two minutes remained, Eren’s eyes widened, his brow twitching in annoyance as he frowned.

"You mother—"

—SLICE ×¹⁰!

—BANG!

Another deadly red lines of slashes struck. Eren twisted mid-air, narrowly dodging eight crimson lines, but two slashes managed to cut through his shoulder armor and sever four fingers on his left hand.

–Break!

Grabbing into his wounded shoulder, he gritted his teeth against the pain, then ignored the injury and strode toward the center of the room chamber, as his expression dark.

’Screw it, then,’ he cursed silently, positioning himself directly beneath the Abyssal Reaper, which hovered ominously above, raising its massive sword once more.

Seeing its master planning to confront the attack head-on, Useless shouted in panic.

[Master, what are you doing!?]

—SLICE ×¹⁰!

—BANG!

As the Reaper unleashed another wave of red lines slashes, Eren didn’t flinch. He activated the necklace’s ability—a transparent shield shimmered into existence, wrapping around his body just in time. The crimson red slashes crashed against it, failing to pierce through the transparent barrier.

Still hidden by the illusion, Eren used his Invisible hand to pull one of the long swords that’s on the ground, still remained intact.

’Useless, monitor the necklace’s durability, and don’t interrupt me.’

[What??]

That was his final order—leaving the system confused and alarmed, unable to grasp his intent.

Eren lifted the longsword in front of him, holding it with both hands, the blade upright and centered before his face. Closing his eyes, he focused, as he activates his Aura.

–WHOSS!

A crimson red glow burst to life around him, swirling violently before stabilizing into a calm, burning haze.

The camouflage illusion vanished the moment he activated the Aura, revealing his position to the boss. Sensing his presence, the Reaper raised its sword again, preparing to cleave him to pieces.

—SLICE ×¹⁰!

—BANG!

Six red lines slashes struck the transparent shield, pushing it closer to its limit. The necklace around Eren’s neck trembled as fine cracks appeared on its gem core.

Useless watched in panic, helpless as its master stood still with eyes closed, sword held steady, aura intensifying. Whatever it’s Master was doing, Useless could only hope the shield held out long enough.

The Reaper, growing agitated, raised its sword again and struck harder than before.

—SLICE ×¹⁰!

—BANG!

Eight red lines slashes connected. The shield cracked under the pressure, and more fractures spread across the necklace’s gem.

Still, Eren remained motionless, his eyes shut. The crimson Aura around him began converging slowly onto the blade, which now glowed fiercely with condensed power.

—SLICE ×¹⁰!

—BANG!

A final wave of nine slashes crashed into him. The transparent barrier shattered completely, the artifact necklace splintering with a loud crack.

—BREAK!

[Master!] Useless screamed in horror as the necklace shattered.

The shield was gone. Eren was now completely exposed—one more hit could end him unless he moved.

Hearing the panic in Useless’s voice, Eren finally opened his eyes. Cold, focused, and devoid of emotion.

He shifted his stance, gripping the longsword with both hands. His front hand slid just beneath the ornate crossguard, while his rear hand anchored near the hilt’s end. He held the blade horizontally beside his face, its edge gleaming under the dim chamber light. His arms formed a tight, angled frame, the blade perfectly level with his line of sight.

Eren stared at the Reaper, which was already mid-motion, raising its massive sword for its final, ultimate slash. Still, Eren didn’t move. He simply waited.

And then, as the two figures looked at each other, ready to use their final attack–

They both struck at the same time.

—SLICE ×¹⁰!

The Abyssal Reaper swung its long sword with overwhelming force, conjuring ten crimson red lines slashes that screamed through the air toward Eren.

But just as the first line neared him, Eren also moved.

In a single, fluid motion, he swung his blade downward, cutting through the air with terrifying precision, as he murmured in a low voice,

"Heavenly Demonic Sword Art..."

"Splitting Descent."

—sling—

A low, long, sharp sound echoed through the chamber as a thin, glowing white line appeared in the air—perfectly vertical, slicing through both the Reaper and the incoming red crimson lines attacks.

—SLICE—

The ten red slashes split cleanly in half, dissipating into sparks and energy as they were destroyed. At the same time, the white line also sliced straight down the center of the Reaper’s body.

For a moment, nothing happened.

...

And then, right after the sound of the long echo sling was gone–

—SPLASH!

Dark blood gushed from the Reaper as its body split cleanly in two and collapsed in halves to the ground.

—Thud!

The Abyssal Reaper was dead.

Useless stare motionless, stunned, unable to believe what it had witnessed. It’s Master had just defeated an overwhelming boss monster in a single move.

It turned toward Eren, who is still standing, motionless, the sword in his hands shattered from the attack’s power. But Useless noticed something else.

A thin red line glowed across Eren’s waist.

—SPLASH!

To it’s shock, blood burst from the wound as Eren collapsed to the ground, his body severed at the waist.

[MASTER!!]

Useless screamed in horror.

One of the Reaper’s red lines slashes had struck him a moment before he released his attack. Though he had won, he hadn’t escaped unscathed.

Lying in a growing pool of his own blood, with his body cut in half, Eren’s vision began to blur. He was losing consciousness rapidly.

[Master, Stay With Me...!]

He could still faintly hear the annoying system’s desperate voice, but it grew more distant with each heartbeat. The cold floor embraced his broken body.

Eren’s body was completely exhausted and can’t move, as he laying on the cold ground, waiting for his death. He could only smile, feeling tired from the intense fight and exhausted as he wanted to sleep.

Just as Eren close his eyes, accepting the death’s cold embrace, as he can finally sleep in peace, he heard a familiar sound before losing consciousness.

–Ding!

[You have completed the quest!]

We are finally getting close to the last Chapters of the first Act... or Arc. And because it’s a new month, I plan to fast forward released the Chapters so I can finally end this stupid long Arc and laze arou– Ahem, I mean rest my brain from writing.
