Chapter 21 - . Determination
Chapter 21 - 21. Determination
A man's silhouette could be felt sitting on a throne-like structure in a dimly lit room.
The Pressure emitting from the silhouette was enough to establish its presence even in a room where the light struggled to enter.
Knock
"Come in, " the heavy voice of the silhouette ordered after hearing the knock on the door.

The silhouette's stature became clear as the room's gate opened, allowing the light particles to illuminate it.
A middle-aged man sat on the throne with a glass of wine.
His Scarlet hair and a mustache of the same hue shone as the light reflected off his wine glass.
His eyes were as dark as obsidian shards fixed on the person who entered the room.
"I apologize for the sudden interruption, Your Imperial Majesty." The Man who came into the room said.
Due to his age, his black hair turned greyish, and he had a mustache and beard dyed black.
He was dressed in formal attire, and his brown eyes were adorned with rectangular-frame glasses.
He was the prime minister of the Empire of Norbury, Veritas Aurelius.
"Hmm... So, what was the reason that you came here, Veritas?" With a short nod, the emperor asked, bringing his wine glass close to his lips.
"Yes, Your Imperial Majesty. I have come to inform you that Lady Kiera had returned with an injured Lord Abraham on her side after completing your Orders. She is demanding his imperial majesty to keep his words and bring her son, Aiden von Everhart, back to life." Veritas said, bowing his head to a certain degree to show respect towards the Emperor.
"Is that so? ...But I'm afraid I won't be able to keep my word, Veritas." Emperor said in indifference, slowly sipping the wine down his throat.
"Are you implying that you can't bring Aiden von Everhart back, Your Imperial Majesty?" Veritas asked, straightening his back to confront the Emperor's gaze directly without any fear. "If that is true, then I fear that it won't do justice to Lady Kiera, and I would have to charge you guilty according to Article 223 Clause IV of the Imperial Constitution, Emperor Ludovic Delirio Norbury."
Veritas stated in a completely professional manner, even after noticing the slight shift in the emperor's mood.
Shatter
"Are you trying to use the laws against me, who could change them at any moment, Veritas Aurelius?" A slight glint flashed in the emperor's Black eyes, as the glass in his hands shattered and its tiny sharp pieces stopped in the air just before hitting Veritas.
"I am merely abiding by the Laws that Your Imperial Majesty has set without any discrimination. If they were to be changed, I would still simply follow them no matter what it would be, but as of right now, you are guilty of taking your words back and doing injustice to Lady Kiera, Your Imperial Majesty." With a wave of Veritas's hands, all of the shattered glass pieces returned, and the wine Glass returned to its original state.
"Sigh~ It's not that I intend to not keep my words to Lady Kiera, Veritas. I very much want to improve my reputation in her eyes, but I can't." Sighing in defeat against Veritas's stubborn attitude, Emperor Norbury said.
"...I beg your Pardon, Your Imperial Majesty, but I fear I cannot comprehend the meaning in your words. Why can't you keep your words to Lady Kiera?" Veritas pressed, his tone not leaving its professionalism.
"Say, Veritas. To bring back someone from the dead, what is the one thing that is a necessity?" Emperor asked Veritas, swirling the little wine that was left in the glass.
"Their Body or Soul, I assume."
"True, they do are extremely important things, but the most important thing is to ensure that the person we are trying to bring back to life is Dead." As the Emperor said, a smirk rose to his lips seeing the reaction of Veritas.
His eyes and face, which hadn't betrayed a single emotion till now, were quite visibly astonished for a fraction of a moment.
"...Does that imply?" Veritas asked cautiously, masking his emotions behind his poker face yet again.
"Yes, it means exactly what you are thinking. I still haven't received any kind of information regarding the 'Kingdom of Everhart' getting ruled out of the Peace of Treaty. Even though their bloodline has ended, or should I say, 'should've ended'?" Emperor Ludovic Delirio Norbury finished his words as the sun began to set and the moon came up on the Night sky, heightening the dangerous glint of madness in his eyes as he brought the glass to his lips to finish the rest of the wine.

BLINK
Slowly opening my eyes, I found myself lying on a white grass-like surface, and as my vision got clearer, I found that it was indeed White Snowy Grass with snowflakes and a froststorm happening.
Though, I didn't feel cold at all.
'...Am I back?' Relying on my hands, I got up and though my mind was a little slow in recognizing my surroundings and my body was still feeling slightly sluggish, I wandered my gaze around to find her.
I looked around everywhere in a hurry, and when I spotted her lying some distance away, I helter-skelter made my way towards her.
An extremely thin thread of Crimson Energy was still emanating from her and trying to cover my body but failing at doing so gradually.
"Elsie...!"
Even though I already knew what her condition would be, I was still horrified by what I saw.
Her face, which always carried a lovely smile, was now completely white, with part of her skin cells freezing due to experiencing frostbite.
Her eyes, which terrified me on my very first day of seeing her, but gradually I came to know their beauty, were shut tight as the interval between each of her breaths increased.
Her body was freezing, and due to having almost little to no blood in her body, it was a miracle that she was still somehow alive.
"Elsie!" I picked her head up and rested it on my lap; by doing so, her eyes opened slightly.
"Your ...Highness?" Her lips moved barely, making her voice extremely thin and almost inaudible.
Almost.
"Yes, It's me, Elsie." Tears were trying to form in the corner of my eyes but having come back from the void into my physical body, I could somewhat control my emotions.
'Don't you dare cry, Aiden, especially after you chose to let her die.' I tried to remind myself of it again, and again.
'If you managed to kill the emperor, you would see her again.'
"Thank Goodness... You are alive, Your Highness." She opened her eyes as much as she could, and when she caught a glimpse of my face, an expression of relief washed over her face.
"I am glad that I managed to save you... I can die now peacefully..." A bubble of tears formed in the corner of her eyes, and as they started to slide down her face, they froze into ice.
The Frost Storm of the Pure Mana was relentlessly harsh which was cutting her already last minutes into half.
"You are not gonna go forever, Elsie. I promise you that I will bring you back." I said, in a heavy voice, as I tried my hardest to unfreeze her skin to make her death less painful but was failing behind in speed the Frost Storm was freezing her body.
'It's no good...' I thought, as a drop of water formed in the corner of my right eye and froze there, making my vision slightly blurry.
'Don't cry, Aiden. Don't you dare cry-'
"Don't cry, Your Highness." Elsie parted her lips and continued in her usual lovely voice with a smile on her face, even though it was evident to me that she didn't have more than a couple of moments left and was using every last bit of her strength to talk to me, "You promised me just now that you would bring me back to life then why are you crying? Was it a fake promise?"
Her Crimson Energy completely vanished as her legs froze completely, and the remaining part of her body was on the verge of freezing too.
'Please work!'
'Please!'
'Please!'
'Please!'
'Please!'
'Please!'
I tried my hardest to use my abilities to unfreeze her body, but due to not knowing even the basics of Magic and Skills, it was futile.
"It wasn't a fake promise, Elsie. I promise I will bring you back, even if I have to sacrifice my humanity for it." I hugged her, trying to unfreeze her body which now was almost completely frozen, with my body's warmth, but even combining both of the methods, was futile.
The speed at which the Frost Storm was freezing her body was too much for my current capabilities.
"Then I would look forward to seeing you again, Your Highness..." With those as her last words, her lips froze, and her breaths stopped.
I bit my lip and as her head fell lifelessly onto my shoulder, I felt my left eye's vision also getting blurry.
