Chapter 247: Eris
It didn't take them long to finish their food, and now, they didn't really have much to do.
According to Aella, there were still two days left until the assignment ended, so he had a bit of time to kill.
Celina, Aurelia, and Aella headed to bed, but to his surprise, Eris stayed awake, training her bow skills off to the side.
He slowly approached, his footsteps not making a sound as he tapped her on the shoulder.
She flinched, and with her bow drawn, she turned around and shot an arrow straight at his face.
However, Neraxis didn't even bother blocking it as the arrow made contact with his forehead and merely bounced off, not even managing to pierce his skin.
"Oh, it's you," Eris remarked with a relieved sigh as she drew another arrow and shot it toward his balls.
That one, he had to catch, and the moment he did, he snapped it in half before meeting Eris's mischievous emerald eyes.
"You ever go for my balls again, your tits are going to be a size smaller than you're used to," Neraxis said as he sat down on a nearby rock.
Eris giggled and sat beside him. "Is that so? I guess your balls are a commodity untouched by anyone but Evangeline, is that right?"
"For the time being," Neraxis replied teasingly, staring into her eyes. "Eris, you don't seem to be a person who would stick around those girls."
"What do you mean?" Eris furrowed her brows. "Are you saying I can't be girly?"
"Not that," Neraxis shook his head. "From what I noticed, you like adventure, and you don't like being tied down to things like the academy. Yet you still came here, and instead of exploring the Wilds, you're relaxing and training."
Eris flinched. "That doesn't mean anything."
"Is something holding you down?" Neraxis asked, and the moment he did, she snapped.
"You don't know anything!" Eris yelled, standing up and glaring at him. "Fight me. Fight me now, or I'm going to attack you."
"What's the difference?" Neraxis replied with a sigh and decided to indulge in her bullshit.
Therefore, he stood up and took up a boxing stance.
"Aren't you going to use your sword?" Eris asked as she drew her bow. "I know you're strong, but that same barrier fluke from earlier won't work a second time."

Naive.
"Just begin already," Neraxis stated, and in the very next moment, she released the bowstring.
The arrow flew right at him, but just like before, he flicked it away.
But that didn't seem to be the end of it, as another arrow flew his way—though this one seemed to be homing in on his eyes.
Smart, since she can't pierce my skin, she's trying to pierce the weak parts, alright, Neraxis noted as he extended his hand, grabbed the arrow, and swiftly threw it back toward her.
Eris jumped in surprise, barely dodging the arrow, which created a miniature crater on the ground.
"A-Are you trying to fucking kill me, you psychopath!?" Eris shouted, startled.
"Really? That's the angle you're going for?" Neraxis chuckled as he turned his body slightly, evading the arrow which had been heading straight for the back of his neck.
"Very creative."
"You're way too fast now. It's unfair." Eris grumbled. "Do that to me too—what you did to Aurelia. I want to fight you fair and square."
"Why should I?" Neraxis tilted his head as a grin began creeping up on his face. "Do you just want to kiss me? Is that it?"
"What? No?" Eris replied flatly. "I just want more power."
"Then train, just like you've been doing, and you'll reach my level eventually," Neraxis said with a shrug. "Of course, by then, I'll likely be either too strong for you to handle or dead."
Eris's brows furrowed. "What would it take?"
"For me to lend you power?" Neraxis asked, amused.
"Yes." Eris nodded. "The one thing I hate more than being weak is being weaker than the person who is the same age as me. And I'll have you know, I consider you as a rival."
"That's a stupid reason, and you know it." Neraxis sighed. "But I believe I understand why you're staying in the academy now."
Hearing that, she flinched, but before she could deny it, he continued.
"You're here for me."
He wasn't a narcissist. However, the main reason Eris even arrived in this world was simply because he brought her over by accident.
She became affiliated with him the moment they met, and even after he killed the monarchs, that only further solidified her affiliation.
And now? She was lingering around, training to the best of her abilities to beat him once and for all.
But she can't, and she would likely never be able to truly beat him.
However, what good would discouraging her do?
Eris's face reddened as she suddenly shot out a volley of arrows, each one faster than the other.
And with swift motions, Neraxis dodged each one, literally dismantling them in midair using {Primordial Presence: Destruction}.
"What do you think you're saying!" Eris shot back. "I'm not staying here because of you or anything. I like it here, so I decided to start over. It's not like I had much of a choice anyways since I can't go back to my old world."
"I see..." Neraxis replied with a sigh. "Anyways... unless you can give me a real good reason why I should give you power, then I'm not going to do it. And this is final and extends toward the other girls too. I won't give you all freebies just because you're hot."
"Then I surrender," Eris stated with a smirk and put her bow away. "You just called me hot by the way. You sure you don't want to give me power just because I'm hot?"
"Nope~" Neraxis chuckled. "Nice try though, maybe next time. Also, I'll be going out to monitor the other students, so you should get some sleep."
Eris shook her head. "I'm going back to training. How else am I supposed to catch up to you?"
"Don't overwork yourself," Neraxis added with a wave and began walking away.
She was still someone he didn't get along with very well, but at the same time, she was one of the people he could talk with freely, so he trusted her to some degree.
Besides that...
I wonder how the fucker Kael is doing.
