Chapter 11 Dungeon

Most buildings of the capital were only one store tall, and the roads, buildings, and even the sewers had been well designed to show a pretty and organized capital. ƒ𝒓e𝐞we𝚋𝙣o𝚟𝚎𝘭.co𝙢

The walls around the capital surrounded the whole place, and they were fifty meters tall. While Aion had heard of some creatures that could fly, their numbers were small. The number of people that developed that skill in one way or the other was even smaller… Still, that might have been built at a time when enemies that could fly over the wall were more numerous.

"sasageyo sasageyo, shinzou wo sasageyo, subete no gisei wa ima kono toki no tame ni… I have watched too much anime…" Aion thought and then sighed. "I can't help but recall that song whenever I see a tall wall." f𝓇𝘦e𝑤𝘦𝚋𝒏૦ѵℯ𝒍.c𝐨𝒎

When they crossed the gates, Aion saw many soldiers saluting his father… they even had that costume in that world. In any case, Aion's siblings were too quiet that day. He thought that they would mess with him since he was the smallest of the group and had been standing out a lot lately, but they didn't do anything, even after they left the capital.

Aion wondered if they wanted to leave a good impression on their father. Although their positions couldn't be compared to the children of the official wife, the other three could compete amongst themselves to achieve and gain more things by working with their father. For that to be possible, they had to show to him what they could do.

Aside from some roads that split into all directions, Aion could see a lot of vegetation in all directions. It seemed that the capital hadn't been attacked in a long while, so Aion wondered why people hated his mother's lineage that much… Come to think of it, he was supposed to receive some of that hate, but he didn't notice anything out of the norm… perhaps it was because his father was with him. If that were the case, it would be hard for Aion to make money since most people might want to stay away from him.

Regardless, after moving for another hour, they reached an area where they could see pretty tall in the distance, and they also found a couple of guards there… It seemed that it was the dungeon. Since only two guards were guarding the place, Aion assumed that it would be a cake in the walk, but dropping his guard would be foolish.

"Sir, we received word that you would come," One of the soldiers said. "No one has entered the dungeon in the last three days."

"Good work. We will do some clean-up then," Lexus said.

That was more than enough time for some monsters to spawn and take their place. The larger the dungeon, the more powerful the core, and the more powerful the core, the more monsters are spawned per day. Still, Lexus unsheathed his long sword like he was going to do something simple. There was no tension on him…. Speaking of gear, Aion and the others were still carrying their training equipment. While the eldest had iron swords, they had no blades… they could cause serious damage, but cutting flesh was impossible.

"Don't get too close, nor don't get too far away from me," Lexus said and then grabbed a stick on the ground and enveloped it with a piece of old clothing that was in his backpack. "Henri will hold the torch, and Philip will carry my backpack."

Aion never heard the names of his half brothers or sisters. He introduced himself once and since he was ignored, he decided to do the same. Still, after some years, he wondered if it was fine to let those kids grow to be like that. He could let them grow ignorant to many things, or he could be an adult and try to teach them how to be better…

That was a tough matter… they were his siblings now, and Aion didn't have any in his previous life. Despite them being little pricks, shouldn't he help them when their mothers didn't know how to raise kids without passing through them their bias? Or should he wait things way worse with puberty?

"This will be hell if they continue to grow like this until their puberty…" Aion thought. "This might be a bonus, but if I play my cards right, they might help me deal with my main problem… the fact that my mother is a prisoner."

While Aion was thinking such things, Lexus guided the whole group toward the dungeon. The entrance was small, only three meters tall and two wide, but the path ahead widened quite fast.

"They are already close by, inside a dungeon, don't rely only on your eyes," Lexus said. "Monsters can cross the distance that the flames can illuminate in the blink of an eye… I will do it slowly so you all can see it."

Aion decided to be surprised, so he didn't ask what kind of monsters they would find there, so he blinked several times when he saw a three meters tall bear… a green bear. Aion truly wanted to understand how come their fur could turn into like that… he could only guess that the answer was magic.

The beast ran toward Lexus like it was a mad dog and with its paws ready to rip apart his head from his body. However, in a fluid motion, when the claws moved to his head, he dodged to the side, and then the monster's claws passed a few centimeters away from his left arm. At the same time, he swung his sword downward and cut off everything below the left forearm of the creature.

"HUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHH!" The green bear grunted in pain while it was trembling.

"When it comes to monsters, it is hard to pierce their vitals due to their fur and hide, so you should focus on weakening them by preventing them from using their weapons," Lexus said. "Once you do that, everything will be a lot easier."

That was quite the bloody thing for a five-year-old to learn… That world definitely wasn't a peaceful one. Considering the history of that world, the math checks out.
