Chapter 256 Last Challenge
A few days later, Aion went to apologize to Seris, and he said that he had said a bit more than he should have. He was completely ignored, but he didn't use the same card and asked if she was going to use the silent treatment and just decided to forget the whole thing. Nothing good would ever come by trying to use reason against women.
In any case, the island that they were heading to was located in the middle of that large ocean, but it was four weeks away from them… so Aion had plenty of time to prepare.
"We are heading south now. Once we get the final relic, we can probably head south for a few more weeks again to reach Zaera kingdom, and then I will be able to go home," Aion thought. "To make sure that nothing will happen, I need to complete Force Release no matter what."
To make sure that he would pull that off, Aion meditated in his room day in and day out, always trying to understand how he could perfect the technique…
After much meditation, he managed to learn to use Heal with a delayed effect. He just needed to make the spell be applied on the right area without activating it… the trick behind that was to make the mana asleep on the area. How could he do that? It followed the same theory when Aion used his stamina too much, and then his muscles would hurt a bit… with some rest, his muscles would get better, and his stamina would recover. Without doing that naturally, Aion could only control his mana with perfection to make sure that it would only activate once the part suffered damage.
That wasn't the end, though. He had to make that thing work on his whole body… he had it practice a lot before succeeding for the first time. Once Aion succeeded with that, it wasn't over either… he had to make several layers of that ability and connect it to the core where it would draw mana from to work…
The whole thing took three weeks to master, but at least Aion could create a core that could heal him ten times, and each time one hundred points of health could be restored. Still, after he knew the basics, doing the same thing by restoring his stamina went smoothly. While they worked apart from each other, the technique of using Force Release had been perfected, and Aion could use it for twenty seconds without damaging himself. Now, he just needed to improve that time little by little and daily…
After leaving the cabin after three weeks, Aion felt pretty good feeling the breeze of the sea… it was really good to achieve one's goals after working hard. Feel things were better than that, Aion felt alive like nothing before…
"You finally left the cabin, were you scared that Seris would kick your ass?" Sauros asked after approaching.
"Sure, let's go with that," Aion said.
"She also has been working a lot lately and barely leaves her room as well," Sauros said. "It doesn't seem like she wants to let you hog all the glory again."
"Good for her," Aion said. "When are we going to arrive?"
"You always walk at your own pace, huh," Sauros said while frowning. "We should arrive in three days, and then the storm should keep us away for two more days."
"Two days to cross the storm?" Aion asked.
"It shouldn't take even half a day to cross that distance in normal circumstances, but the waves are troublesome," Sauros explained. "You should use the time until then to rest because no one will be able to sleep during those two days. If you do that thing with the instrument, it will help us a lot."
Aion could restore their stamina and buff their strength. He won't mind that as long as they reach the place as soon as possible. Still, to think that such an obstacle would be waiting for them, and that was a spell created three thousand years ago… How strong was Aion's ancestor at that time? He was also curious about the power of the master of Sauros tribe, the man that most people refer to as the god that left that world for unknown reasons… the enemy that they had in common must have been pretty insane as well.
In the end, Aion did exactly that, he rested as much as possible during the next few days, and when the waves started to get rough, he began to play the Power Song. At first, he thought that he could play from his cabin, but then the rain came, and that made things difficult for the others to hear anything.
Aion left his cabin and began to play near the neck… even while the ship was shaking. Eventually, Seris showed up and then began to distribute to the crew some gloves and boots that helped them not to slip and increased their grip strength. That might save their lives, considering how much water the rain was dropping on them.
Although she passed by Aion, Seris ignored him again while heading to her cabin. It looked like she overestimated her influence over his life since he didn't feel even a bit troubled over that.
At the end of the first day, Aion couldn't help but frown when he saw the ship climbing some waves while its front was almost pointing to the sky… the waves were even bigger than the ship now.
At that point in time, it was hard to tell if it was day or night since the dark clouds were covering every single part of the sky. He felt that crossing the area while flying wouldn't be a problem, and he probably wouldn't have to stop if he didn't have a passenger with him. Still, the goddess created that challenge for those who couldn't fly like her, apparently… she sure was ruthless.f𝘳𝚎𝐞we𝐛𝑛𝐨𝘃e𝘭.co𝘮
