Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Porcelain White Little Face Turns Bright Red

Until he saw Miss Ade, Uncle Wen seemed to understand why the young master made an exception. The young girl was fair and clean, looking docile and cute, truly endearing.

Uncle Wen instructed the servant to push the clothes rack in, “Miss Ade, we were in a hurry so we could only prepare this much. Take a look and see which one you like, take your time choosing.”

Each set of clothes on the rack was covered with a dust bag, packed closely together, not knowing that any one of them, if brought to the market, would be instantly sold out, each worth tens of thousands.

Uncle Wen still squatted on the ground, keeping himself at the same height as Ah Da.

Ah Da wasn’t quite accustomed to this and tugged at his clothes, sweetly saying, “Uncle Wen, just leave the clothes here. I can choose by myself. You can go down first, I can manage.”

Though still a child, she was after all a girl, so Uncle Wen wouldn’t just stay here. However, as clear as her speech and logic were for her age, Uncle Wen was still slightly surprised, not knowing what kind of excellent parents raised her.

...

“Alright, I’ll go down first and leave her here to help Miss change clothes,” Uncle Wen whispered, even coaxing, as he pointed to the maid pushing the clothes rack.

Ah Da, with her hands on both sides, clutched her shirt, knowing she was seen just as a child in others’ eyes, which is why Uncle Wen spoke to her in a cajoling tone, but internally she really felt like an adult. It was somewhat unbearable to hear.

“No need, no need. I can manage by myself.”

It was so awkward; she really could manage by herself.

Fortunately, Uncle Wen didn’t insist. After triple-checking, he led the maid out, not forgetting to ask her to stay at the door, in case they needed to check on anything urgently.

Left alone in the room, Ah Da finally managed to breathe a sigh of relief. She didn’t know how Qin Yu had described her identity, seeing how respectfully the old butler treated her, even calling her ‘Miss’. Could he have said she was his daughter?!

Ah Da vehemently shook her head. Impossible.

Quickly scanning the clothes rack, Ah Da picked a pink dress, which seemed the right size when draped over her, then hugged the dress and walked into the bathroom, closing the door behind her.

Downstairs, Qin Yu had just returned from his morning run; Uncle Wen had already instructed someone to prepare breakfast—of course, for two.

“Where is she?”

Qin Yu asked, taking a large gulp from the bottle of water that Uncle Wen handed him, his neck veins popping and mingling with his sweat, adding an indescribable charm.

Uncle Wen, with a towel draped over his arm, smiled and replied, “Miss Ade just got up and is still upstairs.”

After speaking, he handed over the towel flatly, and Qin Yu took it, wiping himself as he walked upstairs.

When Ah Da came downstairs, she didn’t see Qin Yu or Uncle Wen. A maid rushed over, anxiously asking if she should carry her down.

“No need, thank you, sister,” Ah Da shook her head.

The maid still wasn’t reassured and watched closely by the side, which made Ah Da wholly uncomfortable, and her steps on the stairs became clumsy, nearly missing a few steps.

Little did she know these small actions in the maid’s eyes seemed nothing but adorable. The maid, a woman approaching thirty, had a mischievous child at home and had longed for a daughter for years. Seeing Ah Da melted her heart.

The little girl was so fair and tender, cute all over, looking from afar like a fluffy moving cotton cake.

Even her voice was babyish. The maid really wanted to hug her and touch her head, feeling how soft it must be.

The maid strongly resisted the urge to touch her, furiously reminding herself that this was the master’s young miss, not just any child. She mustn’t touch! Absolutely mustn’t touch!

The short flight of stairs was tormenting for the maid, and even more so for Ah Da, as anyone would feel uneasy being stared at continuously.

No sooner had she sat on the couch than the maid came over with some snacks, coddling her and introducing her some beautifully packaged candies in the basket, colorful and looking spectacular. Ah Da, curious, reached out and grabbed one, tearing the wrapper and popping it into her mouth, sweet and a bit sour.

The taste of delicious food naturally relaxed Ah Da entirely.

Qin Yu came down to see a certain gluttonous little cat with puffed cheeks, surrounded by mounds of candy wrappers, her mouth full and her hand already reaching for another.

With a mouth full of candy and laughter shared with the maid, oh, indeed, a little bribe could turn her around easily; she’d probably be easily lured away by a trafficker outside, too.

When the master of the house descended the stairs, the maid instantly stood up and moved aside, waiting. Her actions made Miss Ade tense up as well, especially with Qin Yu’s gaze idly roaming over her.

Hastily, she threw the candy she was clutching back into the basket, jumped off the sofa, and acted as if nothing had happened.

“How much did you eat?” Qin Yu stopped in front of her, glanced at the candy wrappers on the table, and asked lightly.

Miss Ade put her hands behind her back and shook her head in denial, “Just a little bit, not much.”

No sooner had she finished speaking than she heard a low chuckle from the man, making her eardrums vibrate and her ears start to feel hot.

Miss Ade, annoyed and embarrassed, glared at him, but with his towering height of almost two meters, looking up from her short stature, she could only see his resolute chin.

“Take her to wash her hands,” Qin Yu instructed, then turned and walked toward the dining room.

Wash hands?

Miss Ade opened her palms, and when she saw the green and brown powder between her fingers, her pupils shook—her hands were covered in candy residue, so her mouth must be…

So she was arguing about this whole fiasco looking like this…

Miss Ade’s porcelain white face flushed bright red.

During breakfast, Miss Ade said not a word, kept her head down, and wanted nothing more than to finish quickly and leave.

Qin Yu was very quiet while eating; only the sound of ceramic spoons hitting utensils could be heard in the dining room. With Uncle Wen and two maids standing around, the atmosphere always felt rigid.

The meat porridge was fragrant, but Miss Ade felt unhappy about eating it, haunted by the recent embarrassment.

Eating was eating; she shouldn’t have made excuses. Qin Yu wouldn’t think she was a habitual liar and a bad girl, would he?

Miss Ade couldn’t help but grip her spoon tightly, sneaking a glance at the man sitting across from her. He wore a black shirt with the collar slightly open and sleeves rolled up to reveal his wrists. This garment resembled the style she had seen in the wardrobe.

It seemed he only had similar styles of clothes in his wardrobe—white, black, gray. Did he particularly like them?

Miss Ade thought to herself and once again found her eyes involuntarily landing on Qin Yu. He sat with a straight back while eating, his fingers long and fair, grasping the utensils with an elegance that was neither rushed nor slow, exuding a sense of comfort and nobility.

He looked attractive, but he was very good at bullying.

Ten minutes later, Qin Yu put down his spoon, and upon seeing this, Miss Ade also put hers down and obediently sat in her chair.

“I’m going to the office later, and I won’t be back until evening. Be good while you’re home alone,” Qin Yu told her.

Miss Ade’s eyelashes fluttered a few times, and she nodded her head, indicating she understood.

She seemed obedient now, but Qin Yu took a deep look at her and stood up, “Don’t let her eat too much sweets.”

He said this to Uncle Wen.

Uncle Wen responded, “Yes, young master.”

As Qin Yu left, Miss Ade’s hands tensed, clutched together under the table.

She wouldn’t eat, she wouldn’t eat sweets ever again!
