Chapter 14: The Club Is Fighting.
Chapter 14
Song Luokui soon met up with Zhang Xiyue on XX Street. The two strolled down the street, watched a movie, and made it back home before dinner.
The next day, as usual, Song Luokui brought a meal to Song Luosheng. While waiting for the elevator, she also saw Tu Shanyue surrounded by several men coming over too.
She was going to the 30th floor while Tu Shanyue was headed to the 32nd floor, so they took the same elevator.
The two glanced at each other without saying anything. The elevator arrived quickly. Once inside, Song Luokui shrank into the corner alone in her white dress, quite conspicuous among the crowd of men in black suits surrounding Tu Shanyue.
Clutching the lunchbox, Song Luokui didn't dare let her eyes wander. Was she intruding into enemy territory?
Tu Shanyue looked at the lunchbox in her hands and spoke up, "Bringing a meal?"
Song Luokui lifted her head. "Oh, yeah."
With Tu Shanyue speaking up, all the men in black suits looked over at Song Luokui. She hugged the lunchbox tightly. Fortunately the elevator arrived at her floor swiftly. Song Luokui bid goodbye before quickly rushing to her brother's company and making a turn, heading straight to his office. The receptionist stood up, "Ms. Song, let me take you to the boss's office."
"No need, thanks. I can go myself," Song Luokui replied.
Song Luokui briskly entered Song Luosheng’s office and handed him the food.
"Why so enthusiastic today?" Song Luosheng asked.
"Well, you did give me some pocket money yesterday. I'm someone who remembers favors," Song Luokui quipped.
"Fifty thousand bucks for a lunch delivery, what a bad deal," Song Luosheng shot back.
"At least it's not for nothing," retorted Song Luokui.
Unable to defeat her, Song Luosheng opened the lunchbox and ate. Meanwhile, Song Luokui sat on the sofa and asked, "Recently your company hasn't been competing with the 32nd floor, right?"
Song Luosheng looked up, "Why do you care so much about me competing with Tu Shanyue?”
Song Luokui replied, "Oh no reason. I'm just worried that if you lose to him again and go bankrupt, then I won't get any more pocket money from you. I'm concerned about you...I mean, I'm concerned about our company." She fiddled with the potted plant's leaves next to her.
Song Luosheng exclaimed, “Can’t you be a little more supportive of your brother? Go bankrupt? If we did, I'd jump off this building!"
Song Luokui immediately sprang up in alarm. "Take that back! Don't say that! No jumping off buildings. Even if bankrupt, as long as we have each other it'll be fine. I have savings that I’ll give you to start over. You can't jump off buildings or what'll we do then?!"
The villain in the original book did go bankrupt and commit suicide by jumping off a building!
Song Luosheng was touched. "Don't worry, we won't go bankrupt."
Song Luokui said, “Even if bankrupt, don’t do anything rash. Remember what I told you before, even if defeated, be the most graceful loser. Failure itself is nothing. Running away from failure is the dumbest thing to do.”
Listening to Song Luokui’s streams of wisdom, Song Luosheng kept nodding. “You’re right about everything. Sis, even if I fail, I won't jump off buildings. At worst I'll start over, but don’t forget to give me your money.”
His little Kui Kui really was suited to be a teacher.
"It's a deal," Song Luokui replied.
After another round of brainwashing Song Luosheng, Song Luokui left, saying she felt tired and wanted to take a nap.
For several days in a row, Song Luokui arrived punctually to deliver meals to Song Luosheng. On two of those days she ran into Tu Shanyue again, each time feeling like his company was filled with a bunch of gangsters with everyone dressed in black suits.
The two didn't speak, only nodded to each other.
Later, Song Luosheng went on a business trip and so Song Luokui stopped bringing him meals. When he returned, she didn’t resume the practice either.
Right after dinner one day, Zhang Xiyue called her up. “Kui Kui, want to go have some fun?”
Song Luokui didn’t know what she meant.
Next, Zhang Xiyue brought her to a place called Unnamed Mountain Lake, a club. Aside from Zhang Xiyue, there was also Tu Shanyue and Zhou Yue. Zhou Yue lived in their apartment complex too and was Zhou Yuan’s sister.
Seeing the four muscular men lining up, Song Luokui sat up straight and swallowed, asking “This is what you mean by fun?”
Zhang Xiyue waved her hand. “Dance for us!”
The club music started and the men began dancing in a popular style.
Zhou Yue stood up shaking her body. “The vast horizon is my love...ohhh...”
Zhang Xiyue and Tu Shanyue also got up dancing, with Zhang Xiyue pulling Song Luokui. “Kui Kui, come on, together!”
Song Luokui thought: This is quite thrilling.
Soon she also stood up and danced...
They danced from that popular song to other hits, everyone incredibly hyped up. Song Luokui even saw Zhang Xiyue feeling up one man’s abs, Zhou Yue following suit.
Maybe from being too hyper, some passersby peered in curiously then two girls came into their private room. “Can we join you guys?”
Zhang Xiyue was ecstatic. “Yeah, come on, let’s hype it up together!”
Before long, several muscular men danced vigorously up front dripping in sweat, while many girls watched excitedly from the seats, occasionally getting up to dance a little. Song Luokui, tired from dancing, sat to the side drinking water.
Suddenly the private room door slammed open forcefully, hitting the wall with a loud thud. Everyone stopped and looked towards the doorway where an affluent lady had entered, yelling, “Who ordered my sweetie Guo Yu? Don’t you know he’s exclusively mine?”
The room was still blasting the song “I’m From the Grasslands”...
Song Luokui swiftly turned off the stereo, quieting the room down. One girl sneered, “Oh it’s just Fatty Liu Ziru. Yours exclusively? Starting today he’s mine. With your physique, aren’t you worried you’ll crush poor sweetie to death?”
Liu Ziru shouted, “Wu Yahui! So you stole my sweetie?!”
Wu Yahui retorted, “Stole? Isn’t it whoever pays more gets the boy toy here? Care to guess who sweetie would rather be with, you or me?”
Liu Ziru looked towards the least manly pretty boy among the men. “Sweetie, tell us who you pick?”
The one called Guo Yu glanced between them, clearly preferring Wu Yahui but also afraid to offend Liu Ziru.
Seeing his reaction, Liu Ziru glared at Wu Yahui. “I’ll fight you for him, stealing my man!”
She then lunged at Wu Yahui. Liu Ziru’s friends followed to attack while Wu Yahui’s clique also jumped in to defend her.
From her corner, Song Luokui watched wide-eyed. “What’s going on here...?”
Next second, she saw Zhang Xiyue also jump into the fray. Seeing Zhang Xiyue almost get hit, Song Luokui immediately rushed in to join the fight...
