Chapter 12: Dekan Decides To Make Some Equipment For Her

Cornelia was not a fan of the library.

She would rarely ever go to the library.

But, if she doesn’t want to fail her classes, she would have to accompany Dekan to study in the library.

The two of them seated themselves across from each other around a small round table.

Originally, Dekan was planning to discuss raiding Shadow Worlds with Cornelia after he finished reading.

But, the moment he raised his head, he discovered that Cornelia was sitting quietly with her eyes closed.

She was reading for a while. However, she later caught a headache from reading and had placed her book back.

Afterwards, she started sitting there quietly meditating.

Dekan discovered that Cornelia was extremely good at calming her emotions.

Perhaps that was a talent that allowed her to become a top martial artist.

It was purely that she didn’t like to study.

Dekan gently tapped on the table.

Cornelia soon opened her eyes and looked at Dekan.

Dekan: “Let me have a look at your cards.”

Cornelia took out a couple magic cards from her pocket and handed them to Dekan. She then stared at him quietly.

Dekan examined the cards she handed over.

As he examined them, he revealed a frown.

The cards Cornelia gave him were all tier 3 White Commons. Their attributes were all pretty bad.

It seemed like her main weapon was a sword.

The reason for that was because the cards she gave him were all identical -- a mass produced sword.

“Damage…”

Cornelia said in an embarrassed manner.

“I understand.”

Dekan nodded before returning the cards to Cornelia.

He was able to guess the reason why Cornelia had all these identical cards with her.

If the equipment manifested from an equipment card was to be damaged, one will no longer be able to use them without having them repaired first.

It seemed like Cornelia would frequently damage her weapons with her brute strength.

To her, weapons were consumable.

Furthermore, as she does not have that much Magic and might have to summon multiple weapons for a single battle, she did not bring any spell cards that would strengthen her own body.

As for summoning cards, they were completely out of the question.

Magic cards were split into three types: Summoning Card, Spell Card, and Equipment Card.

In terms of magic power consumption: summoning cards required the most magic power and were followed by spell cards and lastly equipment cards.

In a similar manner, an individual’s battle style could be put between three categories: Summoner, Spellcaster, and Martial Artist.

Summoners paid close attention to battle tactics. They would generally bring as many Summoning Cards as possible and bring along a couple Spell Cards depending on the circumstances. It was a job suited for those with high Spirit and Constitution.

Spellcasters would generally bring all three types of cards. They were people with high Intelligence and Spirit. They were proficient in using spells and would bring about the greatest amount of damage with spell cards.

As for martial artists, they would utilize mostly equipment cards and a small amount of spell cards. They were people with high Strength and Constitution. However, they were people that lacked Spirit.

Cornelia was surely an archetype of martial artists.

“Can I have a look at the results of your four attributes test?” asked Dekan.

Cornelia took out a piece of paper and scribbled on it before handing it to Dekan.

On the paper wrote:

Strength: SSS

Intelligence: C

Constitution: S

Spirit: D

Those were the results of her attributes growth rate she received from the test she took at the beginning of the semester.

Dekan remembered his own results were:

Strength: E

Intelligence: C

Constitution: D

Spirit: SS

Truth was, being able to attain A tier on a single attribute was an exceptional feat in itself.

S tier was something only geniuses possess. Above those were monsters.

Dekan originally thought that he was an irregular when he received SS tier Spirit.

Never would he expect that there would be someone out there with an SSS tier attribute.

Dekan pondered for a moment. There was still a tremendous amount of room for growth for Cornelia’s combat power. She only needed some cards that suited her.

Since he would have to team up with her often in the future, Dekan figured he might as well upgrade her deck a bit before they set off.

“When Shadow raid?”

Seeing that Dekan became quiet, Cornelia asked the question she was most worried about.

“Give me two weeks,” said Dekan.

He needed time to create equipment for Cornelia. He also needed to wait for his Crown of Suffering’s cooldown to finish.

As it was raiding an actual Shadow World, it was better for fragile individuals like himself to have more tricks up their sleeve.

Moreover, Dekan would be able to utilize these two weeks to choose his electives.

Cornelia nodded her head.

After the two of them finished their arrangements, Cornelia happily bid farewell to Dekan and left the library.

In the two weeks that followed, Dekan would timely arrive in all the required courses.

Although those required courses were no different than a waste of time to him, he had no complaints as there weren’t many courses that were required.

He decided to regard them as rest time.

Even if he was to sit in the back of the classroom and read the books he borrowed from the library, the lecturing professors would not pay any attention to him.

The reason for that was because there were barely any people in the classroom that were actually paying attention.

As long as the students followed the principle of ‘not bothering others while doing what they wanted to do in class,’ the professors would pretend to not see the students not paying attention.

After exiting the A-class classroom, Dekan would go and sit in on the electives he was interested in.

That being said, Dekan only chose two electives.

As for Cornelia, she did not choose a single elective course to take. This caused her to have a lot of free time.

Dekan discovered that he would encounter Cornelia in the library.

She would always be sitting at their usual round table.

While Cornelia was not someone fond of studying, she was a good student and would always put forth her all on completing her homeworks.

That said, she would occasionally start gnashing her teeth angrily while doing her math homework.

It seemed as if she didn’t know how to do them.

At times like that, Dekan would always hand her a piece of paper with hints written on it.

Even though Dekan would be reading his books across Cornelia, he would notice her being stuck in her math problems from time to time. Once he saw that, he would write down some formulas and some problem solving explanations on a piece of paper to help Cornelia.

Whenever Cornelia saw the hints presented by Dekan, she would be able to quickly solve the problems she was baffled by.

Eventually, she became completely convinced that Dekan was extremely good with his studies.

In the end, Cornelia moved her chair around to sit next to Dekan.

Whenever she encountered difficulties, she would turn to look at Dekan.

As for Dekan, he would helplessly raise his pen and start writing on her notes.

This world’s mathematics focused mainly on arithmetic and algebra. The difficulty was only at Dekan’s previous life’s middle-school math level.

As a master test taker, middle-school math was extremely easy for Dekan.

Gradually, Cornelia started to sit beside Dekan when doing her homework for the two remaining required cultural courses.

The reason for that was because she discovered Dekan was extremely knowledgeable with everything.

Although he would not tell her the answers, he would always point out her mistakes and guide her to the right answers.

If this was to continue…

She might even consider choosing a couple electives that he’s taking for the next semester?

The nightmare that Cornelia feared the most -- failing her classes -- no longer bothered her.

She became much happier and worry-free.

Two weeks passed in a flash.

In the third week of the new semester, the thing that captured the attention of the new students the most was the news of Dekan and Cornelia’s intention on raiding a Shadow World.

In fact, many older students and professors started to pay attention to the Dekan and Cornelia’s first ever raid,

The students from the three battle-focused colleges were allowed to raid Shadow Worlds during their normal school days.

Due to the fact that Shadow World raids could take a very long time to complete, students would oftentimes miss classes.

Because of that, they were required to obtain permission from their homeroom professor ahead of time. With that, they would be able to make up for the classes they missed upon returning from their raids.

Actually, very few new students would try to raid a Shadow World soon after entering the Hevenlit Magic Academy.

Generally, they would only begin to raid Shadow Worlds during their second semester.

Freshmen students needed special permission from their homeroom professor to raid Shadow Worlds.

As such, Dekan and Cornelia went to seek our Professor Arnold to express their intentions to him.

Professor Arnold hesitated slightly. He pondered for a bit before approving their raid.

If they were other students, he would never allow them to attempt a Shadow World raid so soon.

But as they were Dekan and Cornelia, there would be no problem at all.

Instead, he actually started to worry about the other raiders that would be matched to their Shadow World.
