Since ancient times, beasts have roamed the realm of Ethuaria.
They existed before mankind and they were there during the reign of men.
Much like humans, they occupied their own habitats alongside regular animals, co-existing in a natural order of things.
Such beasts possessed unimaginable power with the abilities to command allegiance and bring entire nations to a standstill if they willed it.
If they wished for it, they could crush mountains and drink oceans dry with how much power they wielded.
They were the guardians of Ethuaria, blessed upon the realm by the Gods above to ensure the world was balanced between order and chaos.
However, the greed of humans always proved to be fatal.
Jealous of the power those beasts wielded, they sought out to kill them, bringing many of those mighty creatures to their deaths.
And when the envy of man had reached the heavens, the gods decided to bestow half of humanity with the ability to possess magic of their own.
Hence, humans with magical markings were born so that they could stand at the pinnacle of power alongside magical beasts.
Still, man's greed for more did not end.
The gods had made a terrible mistake by bestowing them magical blessings.
They had found ways to harness their abilities in cruel forms to take control of those magical beasts.
Man shackled them like livestock, whipped them into obedience and bred them for war and slavery as they saw fit.
The world fell into imbalance and nations crumbled as they battled each other for dominion of lands, using the magical beasts they captured.
It was then that the gods had seen the error of their decisions.
And in order to correct their errors, the gods had sent down a heavenly beast of power beyond anything the world of Ethuaria had known.
The White Phoenix.
It was believed that such a magnificent creature was born from a clash of moonlight and sunlight when the first eclipse event of the world had come about.
It was a beast that held everything dark and light all at once.
The White Phoenix had put an end to the global skirmishes, ending wars and removing the darkness that infested Ethuaria.
Eventually, the heavenly beast had settled in a land of its own when its resetting of the world had been accomplished.
With the remaining magical beasts that survived, it took up sanctuary in a realm that existed in between the time and space of Ethuaria.

Despite the end of the wars and bloodshed, the remaining magical beasts were left unstable since they'd been corrupted by human magic.
It was then that the gods bestowed custodians upon the beast sanctuary.
They were those born from moonlight and the blood of angels, sent down to Ethuaria to watch over the beasts and given the ability to control them.
Later on, the land surrounding the sanctuary would come to be known as Moonveil.
A place hidden under the cover of night and holding secrets of a forgotten past.
That was the mystery surrounding the magical beasts of Moonveil.
That history was erased from the memories of mankind for they believed all of the magical beasts had been slain during the dark times of war.
Lady Karina had recalled the story countless times, but it always baffled her to know that her bloodline was born from moonlight and angel blood.
It sounded very much like a myth and at times she could hardly believe it.
But as the heiress of Moonveil, she was responsible for the sanctuary of the beasts.
And upon reaching a dead end in the tunnel, she stepped forward to place her hand on the wall.
The lotus mark on the back of her hand ignited like a sensor and she stepped back when a portal of gold and white colours appeared as an opening on the wall.
It was the gateway to the beast sanctuary.
Sparx seemed eager and excited, swishing his tail about when they both finally passed through the gateway.
Lady Karina inhaled a deep breath to calm her nerves.
No matter how many thousands of times she entered the sanctuary, it was something otherworldly and unreal.
Passing through the gateway, her bare feet touched fine, soft grass as the sunlight of the hidden realm came bearing down on her.
She slipped her hood off her head, greeted by scenes of a vast field filled with orchards, lush greenery, and lakes that formed only a small part of the sanctuary.
It wasn't long before many unusual-looking creatures appeared from their hiding spots upon recognising her arrival.
They were beasts of all shapes and sizes, with some resembling certain animals with additional features, while others came from myths and folklore of other cultures.
Moonveil's sanctuary was always so magical, as if the air itself was so sweet and peaceful.
"Oh, how I have missed this," Lady Karina said excitedly, twirling around with her arms outstretched and her head tilted back to take in the scenery.
Many of the beasts crowded her, relieved to have finally seen their favourite custodian after weeks.
One in particular, a large white snowtiger—a sabertooth one at that—happily nuzzled her cheek with his face.
Lady Karina gently caressed his face, pleased to have reunited with him.
Seeing the sanctuary whole and untouched only reminded her of what darkness Orpheus would have brought had he discovered the sanctuary.
She didn't want to imagine what it would have been like if he enslaved all of them and bred them to be war beasts as humans had done so in the past.
Her expression fell and the snow tiger immediately sensed her distress.
Its icy blue eyes reminded Lady Karina of the oceanic shades of Orpheus' right eye.
The colour was mesmerising but the snow tiger held much kinder eyes than the Black Frost Demon.
"I must fulfil my duty and protect you all," Lady Karina said aloud, knowing full well that much danger lay ahead. "I have to be strong for all of us."
