Chapter 472: 514
Chapter Five Hundred and Fourteen
After scouring the raw gem factory clean, Long Xiaoshan walked out and made his way into the mining cave.
Since Sangdu’s mine had once produced jade, it was possible there was more to be found, so he wanted to go in and have a look.
He didn’t use any tools and simply jumped into the mine, stepping on the walls and delving into its winding and meandering tunnels, the jade mine clearly having been excavated haphazardly, riddled with side passages.
Long Xiaoshan zigzagged through the mine for quite some time.
He emerged somewhat disappointed.

The vein was extremely deep, and the Heavenly Eye’s ability was not limitless, especially within the interior of such a mine, only able to penetrate a few meters into the rock, beyond which he could not detect anything.
He did not find any more jade.
Heavenly materials and earthly treasures were, after all, things you could encounter but not seek; Long Xiaoshan returned to the surface.
The haul wasn’t small this time, after all, he had gathered so much jade, which was enough for setting up his formations.
Long Xiaoshan followed the mountain path down and sneaked back into Sangdu’s estate.
He didn’t go to his own room but went to Song Yi’s instead, climbing in through the window, and just as he landed, an anxious voice came from the room, “Who’s there?”
Now fully clothed, Song Yi quickly rose from the bed, clearly she had heeded Long Xiaoshan’s advice and hadn’t slept through the night.
“It’s me,” Long Xiaoshan replied.
In the darkness, Song Yi’s tense expression relaxed as she said, “Why did you come in through the window?”
“I’ve come to take you away,” Long Xiaoshan said.
“We’re leaving now? How do we escape? I just checked; there are Sangdu’s men constantly patrolling, and they have hunting dogs,” Song Yi said nervously.
“Don’t worry, take this…” Long Xiaoshan handed a talisman to Song Yi.
After receiving it, Song Yi looked at the yellow strip of paper inscribed with curving symbols and asked, “What is this?”
“It’s an Invisibility Talisman. Hold it in your hand, shout the word ‘Lin’, and it will make you invisible,” Long Xiaoshan spoke quickly.
Song Yi almost laughed, giving Long Xiaoshan a look and said, “You’re still in the mood to joke right now.”
Without explaining, Long Xiaoshan took out another Invisibility Talisman, shouted the word ‘Lin’, the talisman traced a faint glow, and immediately after, Long Xiaoshan vanished from Song Yi’s sight.
Song Yi covered her mouth, quickly looked around, and called out, “Long Xiaoshan.”
“I’m here.”
A hand reached out and took hold of Song Yi’s, and she groped towards that direction, indeed touching a person, but couldn’t see anyone.
“This… this is really an Invisibility Talisman, oh heavens, how can such a thing exist?” Song Yi felt as if the worldview she had built over decades was crumbling. If she hadn’t seen Long Xiaoshan use the talisman with her own eyes, she would have thought she was seeing a ghost.
“There’s no time to explain, let’s get in the car… er, no, become invisible,” Long Xiaoshan said absently.
Taking a deep breath, Song Yi held the talisman and shouted the word ‘Lin’ as well.
Immediately after, she found her body gradually becoming transparent, blending into the darkness. As she moved her arms, ripples appeared in the emptiness, just like transparent water flowing, a truly magical sensation.
Suddenly, Song Yi felt her body become weightless and levitate into the air; of course, she hadn’t actually lifted off the ground but was instead being carried by Long Xiaoshan. She couldn’t see Long Xiaoshan and felt as though she was suspended in mid-air.
“What are you doing?” Song Yi asked in panic.
“Of course we’re leaving. The Invisibility Talisman only lasts ten minutes; we need to hurry and get out of here.” Long Xiaoshan held Song Yi as he approached the window, ready to jump down.
“But I haven’t taken my things?”
“I’ve got them.”
Upon hearing this, Song Yi noticed that the bags she had placed by the bed were gone, obviously taken by Long Xiaoshan. She didn’t know where he had put them, but given that Long Xiaoshan could even become invisible, the disappearance of her bags no longer surprised her.
Whoosh!
The two of them leaped out of the window.
After landing on the ground, Long Xiaoshan didn’t put Song Yi down. Although invisibility could hide their forms, it couldn’t mask their sounds. Also, the movements of the invisible person could create a faint shadow and could be detected, so it was better for Long Xiaoshan to carry Song Yi.
With his True Qi directed to the soles of his feet, Long Xiaoshan tread silently, slipping through the estate like a ghost.
The two avoided the patrolling guards.
They reached a tall wall within the estate. Atop the high wall was a barbed wire electrified by over a meter high voltage. Coupled with the wall that was over three meters tall, the height from the ground was nearly five meters, resembling a prison that was difficult to escape from or enter.
Long Xiaoshan suddenly pressed down on Song Yi’s throat and then, with a powerful heave, Song Yi soared six or seven meters into the air, over the wall and the electric wires. Terrified to her core, after all, being unexpectedly thrown so high would scare anyone.
She opened her mouth to scream, but her throat produced no sound. She watched in horror as she flew over the wall, plummeting toward the ground. Falling from such a height, she would either die or be seriously injured.
“Am I going to die?” As the ground drew closer, this thought flashed through her mind like lightning.
Suddenly, a tremendous force caught her, and then they both rolled onto the ground.
After tossing Song Yi over, Long Xiaoshan burst into the air. He pushed off the top of the wall, flipping over the electric wires, and before Song Yi hit the ground, he caught her in his arms.
Song Yi lay atop Long Xiaoshan, her mind blank.
It wasn’t until Long Xiaoshan picked her up and began to sprint down the road that she gradually regained her senses and bit down hard on Long Xiaoshan’s chest, angered that he had frightened her half to death by throwing her out without any warning.
Long Xiaoshan’s chest hurt from Song Yi’s bite.
He promptly pressed on Song Yi’s throat, and she was able to make a sound again.
“You jerk, put me down,” Song Yi said angrily.
“Sister Song Yi, I can run faster.”
“I don’t want you carrying me. Why didn’t you give me a heads up before you threw me out? Put me down now,” Song Yi bit even harder.
Left with no choice, Long Xiaoshan had to set Song Yi down and apologized awkwardly, “I feared you’d get nervous if I told you, so I just went ahead and did it.”
Song Yi refused to let Long Xiaoshan carry her anymore.
Long Xiaoshan thought since they had already left Sangdu’s estate, it was fine for Song Yi to walk on her own. He didn’t insist and both continued toward the exit of Pagantown. Song Yi walking by herself was evidently much slower, especially since the roads in Pagantown were uneven and riddled with potholes.
The two walked for a long time before they neared the exit of Pagantown.
Pagantown was sealed off, especially now during a civil war. It was impossible to enter or exit through the main gate, which was entirely guarded by the army. As Long Xiaoshan pondered how to slip out of the town, a series of urgent gunshots suddenly pierced the night sky of Pagantown.
