Chapter 365 Illusion
The first enemy was a giant armed with a black ax and wearing black armor as well. One could see some steam leaving the holes of the helmet that he was using… the second seemed like a robot armed with the largest bow that Jake had seen, and it was attached to its left arm. Jake could barely feel a human presence there.
As for the last one, Jake saw a very tall woman wearing some protective gear here and there. Aside from a gray cloak, she didn't seem to be wearing any powerful gear… she didn't have any weapons either. Regardless, her gray eyes looked quite dead, even though she had quite the figure added with her red eyes.
Jake forgot about that when he saw the robotic archer nocking an arrow. He charged at him since he had a bad feeling about it. However, the dark-armored enemy stepped forward and swung his axe. Jake's sword and that weapon collided. The impact had been so powerful that the ground around them began to crack, and they were pushed away from each other…
"To think that they still would have this kind of people Waiting to fight…" Jake thought when he stopped moving.
Around the same time, the robotic archer fired an arrow the size of a spear toward Jake's head… he moved his sword and blocked the projectile, but the impact pushed him backward for dozens of meters.
,m "What the hell…" Jake thought.
Jake wasn't the only one surprised. Everyone around was shocked due to the power of the arrow and the massive loud impact. One didn't have to be a genius to understand that the archer was selected to fight him because he wouldn't be able to drain any energy from that kind of attack, and each impact would make him lose some.
The robotic archer fired several more arrows in quick succession, and Jake didn't have time to dodge them. While blocking the projectiles with his sword, he eventually reached the spot where the others were, and then he saw the enemy changing its aim to the side and targeting Lana.
"Son of a bitch!" Jake hurried to the side and blocked the next arrow, but since his posture was all messed up, he felt all the impact on his right arm.
Jake wondered if the enemy was looking down on him by giving him the chance to do that or if it was just a coincidence since he didn't want him nearby while he attacked… in any case, the black armored axe man didn't move, and apparently was the guard of the robotic archer, but the white-haired woman was pointing her arms toward Frederick's group.
Lana quickly boosted their willpower and mentality… she had no idea what the enemy was doing, but that group looked to be suffering, and they were attacking less and less often.
"Louise, target that giraffe. I will buff your magic," Lana said. "Jake, buy us some time to prepare for that. Something tells me that those three will be a problem to deal with if we leave them together for long."
Jake had a better idea, but he decided to follow that plan since the enemies were thinking too fast of countermeasures for his technique. If he shows too much before the final boss, he might find himself completely countered…
"All right, but get closer to each other," Jake said. "The archer might try to aim at you guys, and I won't be able to do much if you are too far away from my back."
The back line was also pretty close, so Jake had to consider them as well. A single arrow might take down dozens of them. While Jake didn't want to play the hero, he wanted to make everyone pull their own weight and be a bit useful before going down.
Using some sort of magic, the robotic archer made several arrows appear on his quiver that was on his back and immediately nocked the first. Jake fixed his stance and showed the long point guard again… just defending wasn't the best option in that kind of situation, so when the next arrow approached, Jake swung down his sword with all his might.
A powerful impact took place when Jake attacked the arrow, but his strike had been powerful enough to send the arrow right back at the enemy. However, the dark armored axe man stopped the project with his weapon… despite his size, he was fast… 𝑓𝙧𝘦𝘦we𝘣𝙣𝘰𝘃𝗲l.com
As if the enemy was challenging Jake, the robotic archer nocked two arrows on his bow. In the end, that only made him smirk.
If the enemy had fired at other places, perhaps Jake would have had a harder time, but the two arrows were aimed at his eyes… Still, even If he could see them, blocking both of them using his sword normally would be hard. So, Jake swung his weapon and stopped both of them with the side of his sword.
"For someone who is half made of thin, he sure likes to mess around," Jake said when he saw the enemy nocking three arrows.
It didn't seem like Louise was ready yet, so he had to think fast on how to deal with that. Without any other choice, Jake fired some dark mana blades at the arrows, and much to his surprise, they canceled each other… he was certain that he was going to win, and yet…
"I guess that is the real power of a dungeon master…" Jake thought, and then he noticed his eyesight getting cloudy.
Jake saw the tall woman pointing her hands toward him, but then he felt some amazing hostility coming from behind. He didn't have time to turn around completely, but he could hear the sound of the other members of his party grunting…
"Are they being controlled, or am I the one being controlled?" Jake thought.
Jake had no idea, but if the enemy had any brain, brainwashing him would be the best way to win that fight, but maybe that was just an illusion… Jake couldn't tell…
