Chapter 5 First Mission (4)
"Yes?" Jake asked when he approached.
Now that Jake approached, he confirmed that the girl was really pretty, she also had green eyes and probably a curvy body, but her clothes made it hard to be sure. Not to mention, she had quite the hood on her back.
"... I thought that you would keep ignoring me, why did you change your mind?" The girl asked.
"Do you want to hear the painful truth or a lie?" Jake asked.
"The painful truth," The girl replied.
"You have a sweet voice and a pretty sexy accent, so I decided to talk to hear and record your voice," Jake replied.
"... Is that the best you can do for a lie?" The girl asked.
"Wow… someone sure has confidence in their look," Jake said. "I am telling the truth here, or did you forget that I ignored you before anything?"
"... Recording the voices of girls… that sure is a new level of creepiness," the girl said.
"Changing subjects when things got inconvenient for you," Jake smiled. "You sure can think fast. Anyway, you want help, right? If you ask nicely, then I might consider."
"What do you mean by 'nicely?" The girl asked while looking really creeped out.
"I told you what my goal is, I will even close my eyes just to make sure to have the full experience of hearing your voice," Jake replied.
"What are you going to use my voice for?" The girl asked.
"To sleep, I have been suffering from insomnia as of late," Jake replied, and then he noticed that three slimes were moving toward their direction. "Decide quickly. We don't have time to waste here."
The girl had a hard time believing in Jake's words, but she decided to believe in his words since he turned around to face the slimes.
"Pl-please… Let's play together," the blond girl said, already dying of embarrassment.
"You got a six… you only have a good voice and accent, you are a terrible actress," Jake said.
"Why are you giving me a score?" The girl asked, visibly angry.
"How do we form a party in this game?"
"You don't know? Aren't you a veteran?" The blond girl asked. "Your health, mana, and stamina are high and you defeated five slimes pretty fast."
"This is my first mission," Jake replied.
Jake also realized that a newbie wouldn't have two times more health, mana, and Stamina than the others, but in the end, he paid no mind to it. If the girl believes in him or not, nothing will change for him. Regardless, Jake's health began to recover. It seemed that the girl was a priest, not a mage.
"You can attack them freely, I will heal you if you get hit," The blond girl said.
Now things were making sense. She couldn't fight because she wanted to follow a support build. Priests should be hard to find in that kind of game, so Jake couldn't understand why she was alone. In any case, it didn't matter. It was time to fight…
When the slimes opened their mouths to use Fireball, Jake blocked the first one with his shield and lowered his body to dodge the second. However, he left himself being hit by the last one. The projectile hit his left shoulder and decreased his health by five points. The pain was quite annoying, but Jake endured it by saying to himself that it was just an illusion.
Before the enemies could attack again, Jake jumped toward one of them and hit it with his shield and then with the sword. The fire slime died, but then Jake hid behind his round shield when two other fireballs were fired toward him. The impact of both attacks made the shield tremble a little bit. His health decreased a little bit again, and Jake made a mental note not to let enemies attack in groups again like that.
Before both enemies could attack him again, Jake thrust his sword toward one slime and kept his sword inside the monster's mouth. As for the other, he hit it with his shield. The second one tried to use Fireball but exploded instead, and the last one tried to use Fireball, but the attack only increased the heat of the shield. In the next moment, Jake finished the monster with a sword strike.

Jake sighed when he saw that notification. While the blonde girl only healed him, the system recognized them as a team. Still, it didn't seem like she had done much, but she kept healing until Jake's health was full again.
"I didn't think priests had this much mana… is it a bonus of her weapon?" Jake thought and then used Appraisal on the blond girl, but he didn't get much.

"Maybe she has some bugged skills as well… just like I have Hyper Body and those questions," Jake thought as he watched Lana approaching.
"You really aren't a newbie… I saw several players being defeated by those creatures," Lana said.

"Your name is Judas…" Lana frowned.
"Don't call me that… I will say it only once," Jake said. "Call me Jake."
"Okay…" Lana said, visibly confused. "Well then… are we going to keep hunting together or not?"
"I will keep my word as long as you don't cause trouble," Jake said.
The name Judas was quite uncommon for Americans, but it wasn't a bad name per se. However, it seemed Jake linked that name to the traitor of Christianism. Lana was quite curious as to why Jake apparently hated his name, but it was obvious that he wouldn't answer her question. Meanwhile, Jake began to think of how the game knew his real name, he changed it as soon as he turned eighteen, and on the documentation he received along with the helmet, it said that Jake was the owner...
