Chapter 23: Requirement Number 3・Buffs And Debuffs
Can’t really think of anything to say this time.
Enjoy.
「Hngg!!! It won’t even budge!」 (Tobi)
「Thought so. With the base strength of a light warrior, I believed it’d be rough」 (Hind)
In front of us was the completed greatsword.
Even though its weight was changed to be light compared to a real life counterpart, it was still big and its weight was nothing to laugh at.
The place was Seikori hill, there were about 20 minutes until it was night time.
We were finally close to reaching level cap.
「That famous sword that was said to be able to slay dragons is said to weight approximately 160kg. This one…it’s a bit thinner and since it’s made to weight less here…」 (Hind)
「Even then it should be about 100kgs…?」 (Riizu)
「Probably. Since we are inside the game we can’t really weight it accurately. It’s just that, the weight of a weapon does change when your offensive ability is reduced from removing your gear. Inside the game, STR does display “that”」 (Hind)
「Basically, Tobi, you are a weakling, weakling! That’s what it means!」 (Yumir)
「Shut up! It’s just because I don’t have the proper job! To begin with, a ninja that is a macho doesn’t exis-…wait, they do exist. They even exist in fighting games, now I’m getting embarrassed…」 (Tobi)
「Anyway, Yumir. Try lifting it. If you are not able to wield it we won’t get anywhere after all」 (Hind)
「Umu, I’ll give it a try」 (Yumir)
Although a knight’s strength is lower than that of a heavy warrior, its strength growth is 2nd among all classes.
The weapons they can equip are pretty similar too, the difference between both is that knights can equip magic swords and that their resistance to magic is higher.
Heavy warriors are more physical oriented, their attack and defense is higher than that of a knight but they are utterly hopeless when it comes to magic.
They can’t cast magic at all and their defense against it is very weak.
They are divided into heavy warriors being strong if they get in and knights having good balance.
「Hnnnn!!!」 (Yumir)
「Ooh, she…lifted it?」 (Hind)
Yumir lifted the sword in a perpendicular position.
However, the point of the sword was shaking, with her arms shivering, she was currently making a face of anguish.
「A-Are you OK?」 (Hind)
「S-Somehow, if it’s moving ahead slowly and swinging it down in a straight line I think I might be able to do it…guoo…」 (Yumir)
「Such brute force. As I thought, Yumir-san wasn’t a human but a gorilla」 (Riizu)
「Who are you calling a gorilla!? Furthermore, what do you mean by “As I thought”!? Don’t move, I’ll make you the first victim of this sword!」 (Yumir)
「There’s no way you’d be able to hit me with those slow movements」 (Riizu)
「Kuhh!!!」 (Yumir)
Taking advantage of Yumir’s slow movements, Riizu started to poke her on the sides while having a dark smile on her face.
Yumir could just let go off the sword too…
However, it’d be hard to use it normally after all.
Since this event is all about that one strike it’s fine, but in a real fight moving that slowly would be useless.
As planned, I’ll probably end up selling it once the event ends.
「Come on, it’s about time for the meteorite rush. Change back to your usual weapon and prepare yourself. Here」 (Hind)
「Nu!? I-it tickles!」 (Yumir)
「Just stand still. I’ll be done soon enough」 (Hind)
I put on newly crafted accessories on Yumir’s ears.
Hm….yup, there are also no issues with the dark brown color.
The results are excellent.
「Hind, this is…?」 (Yumir)
「These are the long awaited elven ears. You wanted them, right? Obviously, there wasn’t a blueprint for them so I had to make an original version of them. Register them as a piece of gear later on」 (Hind)
「Oh, thanks! …C-Can I put down the sword and take a look at them?」 (Yumir)
「Go ahead」 (Hind)
Yumir dropped the sword onto the ground, along with a thunderous roar, a cloud of dust was lifted.
She had tried to drop it quietly, but it seems like it wasn’t possible.
As I thought, this weapon is too heavy.
Yumir started touching the ears and after checking them out after taking them off, she started grinning with a delighted face.
I’m glad.
「Those ears, they look like the real deal. What materials did you use to make them?」 (Riizu)
「There’s a marsh close to Altrowa village where rubber trees grow right? I gathered a sap called latex there, filtered it, changed it’s color and made them into that shape. I was a bit worried that the color wouldn’t turn right, I’m glad it doesn’t look odd」 (Hind)
「Oh…? Hind-dono, won’t you mass produce these and sell them?」 (Tobi)
「Should I? I got the template for them so mass producing them shouldn’t be too hard. However, would they even sell that easily?」 (Hind)
「What are you even saying Hind? Elves are the stars in fantasy settings, right? Of course they’d be in demand!」 (Yumir)
「…Well, I’ll think about it」 (Hind)
I don’t think it’ll fit everyone like it does to Yumir after all.
Particularly, if we are talking about elves, don’t they usually have the image of being pretty or handsome?
For example, if we attached them to a chubby old man…even if he wanted to put them on, I don’t think I’d like to see that.
While we were having that kind of conversation, our surroundings started to grow darker.
Since our entire party had grown accustomed to it, we were earning experience while dodging the meteorites today.
「Fuhahaha! Too soft! Your bodies are too soft!」 (Yumir)
「Is the core over here? Hmm!? Did I get it wrong…?」 (Tobi)
While saying words that would come off a villain’s mouth, they both were killing Meteo Golems.
Unlike when we first started, we now preferred to farm the high level ones.
Thus, that was the reason they were both getting in the mood now.
「You are both so noisy. If you keep making all those pointless attacks…I’ll curse you, you know? Until the event ends, I’d rather not waste any time」 (Riizu)
「「Right, I’m sorry」」
The reason for it was because the debuffs Riizu used on the Meteo Golems were really effective.
One that reduced their offensive power 「Attack down」, one that reduced their physical defense 「Guard down」, another one that reduced their magical resistance 「Resist down」 and one that reduced their speed 「Slow」, these four.
Particularly thanks to the effects of 「Slow」 and 「Guard down」, they were slow to begin with but now they were so slow that they looked as if they were standing still.
When it comes to their toughness, Yumir’s arm used to go numb because of their defense, but now it looked as if she was slicing tofu.
Naturally, I was also buffing them like always.
It might be because the affinity is good, but dark mages are really strong against strong foes.
By the way, mages can choose from 3 types 「Fire and Wind」, 「Water and Earth」 and 「Darkness」.
From these, Riizu choose the dark type that had plenty of debuffs.
No, I should rather say I made her choose it.
We’ll need debuffs for this event, even if I hadn’t told her, I think she understood that we needed it.
Whoops, the core has surfaced.
Riizu took a pose with her staff and began chanting her offensive spell.
「Well then, as we had already arranged before, I’ll begin testing this spell. You both should back away」 (Riizu)
「Hahaha, I got you!」 (Yumir)
「Ah, Yumir-dono, not fair! I’ll be the one to deal the last hit!」 (Tobi)
「…I did warn you. I’ll shoot it now」 (Riizu)
「「…Eh?」」
I silently cast 「Resist up」 on Tobi.
…Please live, both of you.
Riizu shot a small black hole towards the core, it started to quickly suck in everything around it.
I know this is a bit late, but there’s friendly fire in TB.
In the case of AoE magic, you wouldn’t use them until your allies get enough distance from the monsters.
…You’d usually be careful about that.
Furthermore, this 「Darkness Ball」 had the effect of pulling in what’s around it.
Once you get caught in it…
「Abababa!」 (Yumir)
「Gueeee!」 (Tobi)
Together with the core, having been caught by the darkness ball, both of them were crushed and taking damage continuously.
Since Yumir is a knight, she’s able to withstand the magic, but since Tobi’s magic defense was low, he died before the 「Meteo Golem」 did.
He was even buffed and this magic doesn’t have that high of a offensive power but even then, it was impossible for him to withstand it huh…light warriors are so paper.
After Tobi, the 「Meteo Golem’s」 body started to crumble.
Unexpectedly, after Tobi reached level cap, more experience was distributed among us three…excluding Tobi, the three of us were enveloped in the level up light.
I cast 「Revive」 and immediately resurrected Tobi.
「Ah, I reached level 30 Hind-san. Such a joyous moment」 (Riizu)
「「It’s not joyous at all!!」」
「No, that’s your fault for forgetting about the promise and attacking it…」 (Hind)
Obviously, being killed by friendly fire doesn’t count as PK’ing.
Another thing to know is that darkness type mage’s offensive power is not that high.
What the 「Darkness Ball」 she just used excels at is at keeping monsters in check, the damage is so-so.
It seems that the main role of a dark mage is to debuff and interrupt foes.
