Chapter 327 - Framed
327 Framed
Luo Ying furrowed her brow as she read the message from the doctor.
“Xie Yun seemed to be recovering well when I visited him this morning. How did his condition suddenly worsen?” she wondered.
A suspicion began to grow in her mind that this matter might not be as simple as it seemed.
When she arrived at the hospital, Xie Yun had already been rushed to the emergency room.
The doctor in charge came out with a troubled expression and said, “The patient has a severe fever due to a wound infection.”
“An infection?” Luo Ying looked incredulous. “He’s been taking antibiotics and getting his dressing changed every day. How could he get infected?”
The doctor also appeared worried. It was as if he was blaming himself for not taking better care of the patient.
At that moment, a figure caught Luo Ying’s attention.
A woman in a nurse’s uniform glanced guiltily at them and hurriedly left.
“Is she a nurse from the hospital?” Luo Ying asked the doctor.
“The hospital doesn’t have contracted nurses. Usually, patients’ families personally hire them,” the doctor replied.
Luo Ying nodded and quietly followed the nurse to a staircase.
As the nurse took off her mask and made a call, Luo Ying was shocked by her face.
It was her!
“Miss Su, I’ve done as you asked. Transfer the money to me.
“What now? Do you want me to get rid of Luo Ying? Of course, I hate her. She’s the reason my daughter got imprisoned. But with Lu Zhao protecting her now, it’s hard for me to get to her.
“That was not the deal! We agreed you’d give me 500,000 dollars in exchange for Xie Yun’s sabotage. Now you want me to get rid of Luo Ying?”
Luo Ying’s heart sank. She had to be talking to Su Ran.
Both production teams had been competing from the start. If Xie Yun was incapacitated in any way, they wouldn’t be able to continue filming. Su Ran’s drama would then take the spotlight.
When did human lives carry such little meaning? Luo Ying couldn’t help but feel bitter.
She approached the woman as she spoke on the phone. When the woman saw Luo Ying, she was stunned and dropped her phone on the ground.
“Hello? Why aren’t you saying anything?” Su Ran’s voice still came from the phone.
“Auntie, long time no see,” Luo Ying said to the woman in front of her.
The woman panicked, but her eyes quickly narrowed in fury.
She was Tian Tian’s mother, Chen Jing.
“You… you’re the one who harmed my daughter,” Chen Jing’s face twisted with anger.
Luo Ying sighed, “Tian Tian brought that upon herself. Is hurting more innocent people your way of seeking revenge on me? Xie Yun has nothing to do with you. Why did you hurt him?”
When she heard Xie Yun’s name, Chen Jing’s eyes evaded her gaze.
“Did Su Ran send you?” Luo Ying asked calmly.
“How did you know?” Chen Jing looked at Luo Ying in disbelief.
“What you’re doing now is a criminal offense. If I call the police, you’ll end up like your daughter and get thrown behind bars,” Luo Ying said while observing Chen Jing’s reaction.
Chen Jing’s legs went weak. Su Ran hadn’t mentioned this when she had recruited her. Su Ran had only asked her to carry out certain tasks and promised to take care of everything else.
Luo Ying looked at the weary Chen Jing and felt a pang of sympathy.
This world didn’t belong to her; it was a fictional dimension. But the people living here were fighting very real battles. Was it worth it?
Luo Ying looked down to dial the police number. She didn’t notice that Chen Jing had slipped her hand into her bag to produce a pair of scissors. She was now aiming it at Luo Ying’s heart…
Blood stained the white floor tiles of the hospital.
Luo Ying felt a blinding white light and heard a cacophony of voices.
“Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you!”
“Yingying, what are you waiting for? Blow out the candles.”
After struggling to open her eyes, Luo Ying saw familiar faces in front of her.
Her father, mother, and brothers were all sitting around a table. A feast of delicious food and a big cake adorned the table.
“Happy birthday, deartest Yingying,” her third brother said affectionately.
Had she returned?
Looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar scene, Luo Ying couldn’t help but burst into tears.
Her family was puzzled; they didn’t know what was wrong with her.
“Yingying, are you feeling unwell?” Her mother asked with concern as she gently patted Luo Ying’s back.
Luo Ying turned and hugged her mother tightly. “Mom, I missed you all so much. Thank goodness you’re all here.”
