Chapter 79: Exactly Right, Big Brother
The oppressive presence of the Demon Huntress Nun scared Ymir so much that she quickly shrank her neck.
"Sorry, sorry! I won’t leave, is that not enough?"
Vivita snorted coldly, then glanced at Ashu. If he hadn’t specially asked her to hold back, she would have killed this woman already.
Since Ashu deliberately spared her life, it meant Ashu had his reasons.
"Of course not," Ashu said, staring at Ymir.
"Huh? So, does that mean I can leave?"
"No," Ashu said, "What I mean is, not only can you not leave, you have to work like a beast of burden for the two of us and help us find the person we’re looking for."
Ashu leaned in close to Ymir like a cunning merchant.
Having just bound a new high-quality being, he naturally wouldn’t let her go so easily. It wasn’t easy to come to the Netherrealm—how could he not milk some more rewards from her?
Ymir had one controllable advantage.
She was weaker than him. She needed to become stronger. And as long as Ashu guided her to grow stronger, the system would give him tenfold returns.
"I really don’t know who you’re looking for, big brother," Ymir said helplessly, shrugging. "And I’m weak. It’s hard enough just to survive here in the Netherrealm. Even if you wanted a local guide, shouldn’t you find someone stronger?"
"No." Ashu’s rough hand grabbed her cheek. "I specifically want you to guide us. If you dare to refuse, you won’t be able to withstand what I’ll do to you."
Looking into Ashu’s eyes up close, Ymir was truly scared. This man was strange—one moment he didn’t seem to have the "Power of the Reaper," the next moment he suddenly did.
He had nearly counter-killed her.
In the Netherrealm, the God of Death rarely grants power to others. Could this man be one of the rare few?
Yet he also clearly had holy power—weren’t those two supposed to contradict each other?
Caught between fear and curiosity, Ymir nodded and agreed, "Big brother, I’ll follow. I really will. Although I don’t know how to find the person you’re looking for, I’ll try to ask around for directions."
Vivita looked at Ashu in confusion. From Ymir’s heartbeat and expression, she was telling the truth—she really didn’t know any news about Kakarim.
And her strength was not even as great as Ashu’s.
But Ashu was still keen on her—what secret had this "luminous saint" discovered that Ymir hadn’t?
Vivita didn’t ask directly but silently linked Ymir to some mysterious background.
"Good. Now, introduce yourself clearly. Leave out or hide any detail, and I will punish you," Ashu said fiercely, locking eyes with Ymir. "You won’t be able to bear my methods."
Ymir was afraid inside—Ashu seemed like a demon to her.
"I, my name is Ymir. I’m eighteen years old. I don’t know where I was born. Since I can remember, I’ve been running between the human world and the Netherrealm."
Vivita frowned when she heard this. Someone who had been moving between the human world and Netherrealm since childhood was certainly no ordinary person. Ashu sparing this woman clearly had a deeper purpose.
However.
Before Vivita could think further, Ashu clasped his thumb between his index and middle fingers, stepped forward, and drilled his fingers into Ymir’s head.
"Didn’t I tell you to introduce yourself clearly? And you only said that little bit? You think I don’t know your background? I’m quizzing you now. Do you think you can hide anything from me?"
Ymir covered her head and hurriedly added, "I’m telling you, I’m telling you! My period comes around mid-month, but each month it comes two days earlier. My favorite food is sweet fruits. What I hate are those Marauders—they stole my treasures."
Ymir poured out all her personal details in one breath, yet she still didn’t mention her faith in the God of Death.
Maybe she feared the Demon Huntress Nun standing there, or maybe she thought she could still keep that secret.
Hearing this, Ashu sighed, deciding not to stir the pot just yet. He wanted to see what purpose she had in hiding that.
"Alright, you don’t have to say anything more." He mulled over Ymir’s statements, looking for clues to advance his plan, then said, "I guess you must know quite a bit about those Marauders. Let’s go ask them. Maybe they have news about Kakarim."
Upon hearing this, Ymir froze for a moment, then her heart leapt with joy.
The Marauders were a notoriously evil Demon gang in this area; some Undead had also severed the cycle of reincarnation to join them by some means.
They survived by plundering everything from others—souls, power, faith, freedom, even the blessings of the next cycle.
Ymir was completely no match for that dark force, but today with Demon Huntress Nun Vivita here, and her power, she could definitely make those Marauders cry for mercy!
"That’s exactly right, big brother!" Ymir excitedly stepped forward and hugged Ashu’s thigh. "Those Marauders commit every kind of evil imaginable and have influence everywhere. They must have information! Even if they don’t, the travelers they robbed surely have some news to share!"
Ashu pushed Ymir’s head gently.
Her chest wasn’t very full, but her waist was especially soft and slender, and her hips were round and perky. When she hugged his thigh, looking down, the waist-to-hip ratio was strikingly visual.
"Vivita, what do you think?" Ashu asked while nudging Ymir.
Compared to relying on some so-called ’divine guidance,’ he thought this approach was at least more practical.
Vivita said it didn’t matter to her. The Holy Cultivator Guild’s Purge Order was always an absolute task to be completed. The executor could ignore any interference and act without restrictions until the mission was done.
In other words, she had all the time she needed, and finding Kakarim was now her only mission.
"Let’s go," Vivita said.
"Big brother, big sister, it’s just up ahead. I’ll lead the way!" Ymir volunteered eagerly. The thought of using others to do her dirty work and finally achieve her revenge made her extremely excited.
Although this place was shrouded in mist, Ymir ran without hesitation. Her speed was decent; after all, Ashu had to use Flight Magic to catch up with her land-speed.
Vivita chose to follow behind Ymir. She trusted Ashu, but didn’t fully trust Ymir.
Since Ashu wanted to keep Ymir around, Vivita had to keep an eye on her to prevent any sudden escapes.
The three of them moved quickly toward an unknown direction for about the length of an incense stick burning.
Finally, a castle forged from dry bones appeared before their eyes.
Strangely, when the three saw the Castle of Dry Bones, they were at least a thousand meters away.
But before this, the mist’s visibility had been less than a hundred meters.
"Seeing more clearly now..." Ashu muttered.
Ymir smiled slyly and said, "Big brother, this is the Marauders’ camp. They even robbed the rotten mist of the Netherrealm itself. I don’t know what use they have for it, but I’m sure they’re not doing it out of kindness."
Ashu looked at Vivita, who sensed the situation carefully and said, "We can go in and ask."
Since she said that, it meant the Marauder camp ahead was definitely no match for her.
"Remember to go easy on them. Don’t kill them outright," Ashu reminded.
After saying that, he looked at Ymir.
There were actually two purposes for coming to the Marauders’ camp. One was to carry out the main task: finding Kakarim. The other was to train Ymir.
As long as Ymir improved even a little, he would get a tenfold return.
"Ymir, what are you still standing there for? Didn’t the Marauders steal your treasures?"
Ymir nodded like a chick pecking grain. "Yes, big brother. They took my treasures."
"Then go and take them back. Are you waiting for me to do it for you?"
Ymir panicked immediately. She smoothed back her long black-blue hair and stammered, "B-big brother, look, with my weak strength, going in there is just suicide. I might even hold you back. How about you let big sister go in alone, and I stay here to rub your shoulders and massage your legs? How about that?"
As she spoke, Ymir made a move to come up and massage him.
Ashu immediately put on a serious face and said firmly, "If you don’t go, you know what I’m capable of. If you go, there’s still a chance of survival, maybe even reclaiming your lost treasures. But if you don’t, I’ll send you to the next cycle of reincarnation right now."
"No! No, big brother!" Ymir was scared. Ashu wasn’t one to kill her lightly. She had only barely dodged death once because she temporarily learned a new skill. There wouldn’t be a second lucky chance. "Big brother, I’ll go, I’ll go, okay?"
"No! You’re not just going—you have to take back what’s yours. If I catch you slacking off and coming back empty-handed, I’ll still send you to the next cycle."
Hearing this, Ymir stuck out her tongue and hurried to catch up with Vivita’s steps.
In the face of such overwhelming combat power, the safest thing for her to do was to stay close to Vivita, acting like a small accessory.
In other words, to be a drag on Vivita.
As long as she held back Vivita’s rear, she would be safe.
When Vivita reached about five hundred meters from the Castle of Dry Bones, a sudden burst of fierce Demon power exploded from within the castle.
This Demon power shot up like a blood pillar, soaring three hundred feet into the sky.
As the blood pillar dissipated, a Demon covered in exposed blood vessels from head to toe dived down toward Vivita.
"Heh heh heh! Delicious Holy Power—once I rob you, I’ll be rich for life!"
Vivita stood her ground without moving. Her cold gray eyes fixed on the approaching figure.
"A Blood Fiend, huh? Really asking for death."
