Chapter 279 - The Crane Origami

279 Ch. 279 The Crane Origami

Anxia and Elliot were still relaxing in Elliot’s room even though they knew people were bustling to prepare for Elliot’s birthday party. Even though Elliot didn’t want to celebrate his birthday, Loraine Shu still held it.

Elliot could see his mother looking relaxed, but a frown on his mother’s forehead indicated that Anxia was worried about something.

“Mama?”

“Hm?” Anxia’s frown disappeared as she turned to her son.

“What are you thinking?”

“I’m thinking about your sister.”

Elliot’s eyes lit up when he heard his mother talking about Lori. “Lori?”

“I miss her...” and also… Anxia still hasn’t wished her daughter a happy birthday. But she didn’t say it directly to Elliot.

Elliot suddenly felt jealous of Lori. His twin sister had been fortunate to have been with their parents since birth, whereas he… Elliot had only been in a parent-child relationship with his mother for a few days. The boy opened his mouth to speak when someone knocked on his bedroom door.

.....

Anxia stroked the top of her son’s head and then stood up to open the door. There appeared the nanny—the person Song Lei trusted the most, causing Anxia to turn into a woman who was cold and exuded a dangerous aura.

“What business do you have in coming here?”

Nanny swallowed hard and felt disappointed that it wasn’t Elliot who opened the bedroom door.

“Madam Shu ordered me to get you two ready.”

“What are we getting ready for?” Anxia pretended not to know why they had to change clothes and kept looking at the nanny with an intimidating look.

“The festivities are about to start, and the madam is hoping her beloved grandson will come to celebrate the birthday.”

“We are not interested.”

BAM! Anxia closed the bedroom door again without letting the nanny speak again. But the girl didn’t give up and tried to take Elliot out of the room and into the hall for his birthday celebration.

Loraine Shu had already invited her dirty business partners in neighborhoods, and the gates of this mansion would be wide open for those guests. Guards and men would monitor secret doors and prevent guests from entering the restricted area.

They wouldn’t have enough people to look after a small child whose mother wanted to steal the boy away at any moment.

They wouldn’t have to worry about Anxia leaving with Elliot if they could keep an eye on Elliot in the main hall. Loraine didn’t care whether Anxia would leave this island or not. After all, she had already gotten the Tiffany II program.

But Loraine would never let Elliot off this island, no matter what.

Song Lei had warned her not to hold Elliot’s sixth birthday on a grand scale, but Deke Shu had orders to hold such a grand event for his sole heir. As such, Loraine and Song Lei was forced to hold the event anyway and would do their best to get Elliot to appear in the main hall before the event started.

Nanny knocked on the bedroom door once, and she kept banging on it this time even though Anxia didn’t open it. After repeatedly knocking hard on the door, Anxia finally appeared before the girl.

“Why are you bothering us?”

“My apology, but Yang Guang had to appear to honor Master Shu’s wish. He will come here to see his great-grandson, and it would be impolite if the young master does not come.”

Deke Shu?

“That’s right.”

Anxia and nanny turned towards the source of the sound, which turned out to be Liam, Anxia’s grandfather’s right-hand man.

“Young master Xiao Guang, I have a gift for you. Don’t you want to accept it?”

Anxia blocked Liam from entering through the door of this room as if Liam was the one who would hurt his son.

“Madam, I will not hurt your child.”

“Ah, sorry. But sadly, I can’t trust anyone here. You can expect me to go because I will go sooner or later. But as long as I’m here, I won’t let anyone touch my son.”

Nanny bit her lip in frustration while complaining about how stubborn Qiao Anxia was.

Liam smiled and glanced at Elliot. “Young master, are you sure you don’t want to see my gift?”

Elliot had never met Liam before because the man had never been here. Therefore he had no interest in any gifts that man would give. But when his eyes caught an origami crane on the man’s palm, Elliot stood up and approached Liam.

“I told you, you would be interested in my gift.”

One side of Anxia’s eyebrows rose as she saw her son suddenly walking towards the man. Nanny was also surprised that Elliot was even interested in origami, which had no special features.

Elliot took the origami and looked at Liam with curious eyes. “It’s beautiful. Did you make it?”

“No. My acquaintance did.”

“Thank You. I like it very much.”

“You’re welcome, young master. But I hope you can show up at the venue. You can go other places if you don’t like attracting attention.”

“Okay. I will listen to you.”

“Are you sure?” Anxia couldn’t help but wonder what was so special about the origami paper, while the nanny smiled contently upon hearing the boy’s decision.

“See you at the venue,” Liam said politely before finally moving away from the corridor of Elliot’s room.

“Then you guys get ready first. I’ll pick you up in half an hour.”

“We don’t have to...”

“Mommy, just let her be.”

Nanny smiled broadly at that. “Madam, no one forces you to come if you don’t want to appear at the event.”

The corner of Anxia’s lips twitched hearing this. Did she hear any disdain in this young girl’s voice? 𝗳re𝐞𝓌e𝚋n૦ѵ𝗲l. co𝐦

“See you later, young master.”

Without waiting for Anxia’s response, the young girl turned around and confidently walked over.

After closing her son’s room back, Anxia shot Elliot a questioning look while Elliot put his index finger to his mouth as if telling his mother not to make a sound.

Then, Elliot opened the origami crane to form a rectangular piece of paper with a number in the middle—number five. Why is a number there?

“Mommy, let’s get ready. I don’t want to be here any longer.”
