Chapter 280 - The Secret Passage

280 Ch. 280 The Secret Passage

Anxia sighed resignedly at her son’s request before finally following Elliot’s instruction. She didn’t have the means of communication to get in touch with Richard. But her LMYT bracelet was glowing red, and she knew that Richard and his team would intrude tonight.

Only, she didn’t know what time it would be, the rendezvous point, or what kind of plans the man had in taking her away. She didn’t even know how her husband would get Jamie, Mei Yin, and her father off the island unnoticed.

In her distress, Liam appeared out of nowhere with this mysterious crane origami which seemed to be a secret message only Elliot could understand. Anxia was curious but couldn’t ask, remembering the walls and floor had eyes and ears, and she couldn’t possibly use a frequency-jamming device a second time.

Luckily, Anxia had read a book on sign language for the past two days, so she could communicate with Jamie and Elliot without making a sound.

Even though Anxia hasn’t fully mastered it yet, at least she has started to be able to use hand language.

‘Elliot, are you going to explain to me what happened?’

‘… door number five… meet with…’ Only those two sentences Anxia understood while the rest… Anxia didn’t understand her son’s hand movements at all.

Elliot chuckled when he saw his mother confused and then moved his hand again, and this time Anxia understood what it meant.

‘Mom, trust me.’

.....

Anxia blinked her eyes a few times, then hugged her son with a resigned sigh.

Like a father, like a son. Why did they ask her to believe them? Anxia also wanted to protect the people she loved, but why did she feel so useless?

“Okay, let’s get ready.”

Elliot grinned widely, and the two began dressing more formally. Anxia helped Elliot put on the black vest after the boy put on his white long-sleeved shirt. She even helped Elliot to comb his hair and tie a bow tie around his neck.

Elliot wore casual clothes and a long-sleeved sweater with messy black hair in his dailies. But now, seeing her son’s neat appearance, Elliot looked different.

“Wow, my son is very handsome. You really are my son.” Anxia couldn’t help but kiss her son’s face making Elliot chuckle.

Long after, a knock sounded again, and Anxia knew the nanny had arrived to make sure they arrived at the event hall without getting lost—in other words, they wouldn’t want Elliot to leave the island.

Anxia still looked at her son gently and lovingly, but as soon as she opened the door, her expression changed back to that of a cold person, and she looked at the nanny with a high level of dislike.

Nanny didn’t care about Anxia’s gaze and only cared about Elliot. Deke Shu’s true heir was Elliot, and through this child, she could get a higher position—people that gained Elliot’s favor could get one.

“Before going to the main hall, I want to go through the labyrinth garden on the east side.”

“Garden labyrinth? But that way is a very roundabout young master.” Please visit 𝘧𝗿𝚎e𝓌𝗲𝒃𝑛𝒐ѵ𝗲𝒍. c𝐨𝗺

“That person allowed me to go any place I like. Mama had never seen a labyrinth garden here, and I wanted to show it before she left.”

The nanny reluctantly agreed to his request and led them to the labyrinth garden on the island’s east side.

As soon as they arrived at the east side, Anxia felt the presence of someone else there, raising her guard. She held Elliot’s hand just in case, and the boy smiled happily, enjoying his mother’s protection.

Elliot felt safe and believed that everything would be fine. He firmly believed that after this day, Elliot would be a free child without fear and on guard whenever Song Lei was on this island. He didn’t need to put on a show to please the person he disliked, and Elliot could be himself.

If necessary, Elliot would love to live a normal life like other kids… like Lori. He didn’t want to be pressured by the political or power matters that Loraine or Song Lei were after. And he was sure his parents would be willing to give him the life of his dreams.

The three of them continued to walk past the first plant wall of the labyrinth, and Anxia slowed down while preventing Elliot from walking any further.

Elliot didn’t understand why his mother had stopped him, but he obeyed and also stopped and stood next to his mother.

The nanny realized that two people walking behind her had stopped in her tracks. She turned around to see what the mother-son pair were doing without noticing that someone had stepped out from behind the labyrinth garden wall.

“Why are you guys...” The nanny couldn’t continue her words as someone had hit her conscious point, and she was blackened out that instant.

Anxia immediately stood in front of her son as soon as the person came out but was stunned to see the culprit’s face.

“Mei Yin?”

“Hi, did you miss me?”

“Sister Mei Yin!” Elliot shouted and ran towards Mei Yin, where the girl crouched down to hug the tiny boy. “It’s a good thing you read my message. You’re a smart kid.” praised Mei Yin while pinching Elliot’s cheek playfully, inviting laughter from the little boy.

The origami crane was a secret code between Elliot and Mei Yin. And the number five signifies that Mei Yin would be waiting near the hidden door area of ??the fifth tunnel.

“Wait a minute.” interrupted Anxia. “So you ganged up on Liam?”

“You can say that. Liam has supported me from the start.”

“Ha? Why?”

“I’m still figuring out. Maybe I’m Deke Shu’s favorite accomplice. Who knows.” Mei Yin replied as she shrugged her shoulders indifferently. “Let’s get out of here.”

“Wait.” Elliot stopped by holding Mei Yin’s hand, making the girl wonder. “What did that person do to you? Why did you get injured like this?” Elliot said with tears in his eyes as his hands touched Mei Yin’s neck, which was covered with bandages.

Even though Elliot didn’t know how bad the wound was, he knew Mei Yin was hurting... it must be excruciating.
