Chapter 70: Big Fight
Barely did Astri knew that all her spouses were waiting for her in the living room on the next day to wait for her to talk to them about this new quest that they had not agreed yet.
Apparently, she already made her decision, but didn’t tell them and that’s making them mad.
Tyr wants to even growl at them, thinking that they shouldn’t be treating her this way, but he stays quiet since he’s not her spouse yet. But he decides to stay and watch what they will tell her.
She looks at her spouses, staring at her with crossed arms.
"What happened? Why are you looking at me like this?" She asks, confused.
"We’re waiting for you to explain." Wayde answers.
"Oh yes! Yesterday we found who was trying to contact me. His name is Beau. He’s from.." She says, but Lee interrupts her.
"We know. Claud told us yesterday. We want you to explain why did you decide to go without talking to us first." Lee says.
"I was going to discuss with you about how we could go."
"So you really decided to go without talking to us?"
"What the hell is wrong with you? What is this questioning?" She asks, uncomfortable.
"Slow down, Lee. You need to hear her first." Cyprian says.
"Why are you talking to her like this?" Tyr asks, annoyed.
"You stay out of this. Don’t pretend you’re on her side just to make her like you." Lee speaks, annoyed too.
"Astri, are you decided to travel with that whale beastman?" Zin asks.
She looks at Claud.
"What did you tell them to make them mad at me?" She asks him.
"Only what we talked with Beau. You looked decided to go and help them by your behavior." Claud answers.
"He told us things before deciding anything. You didn’t do that." Wayde says.
"Do you think I have a choice? If Nature asked me to meet with Beau, it’s because it’s something that must be done. I have to go. I was going to talk to you to find a way to go." Astri speaks, pushing her meal away and not wanting to eat anymore.
"No, you don’t have to go to everyone that needs help. You won’t have a life if you help everyone in this world, Astri." Zin says.
"You can’t decide things without us. You know it’s too dangerous to bring you outside and we need to think about many things for it. I don’t agree with you going and you don’t even care about how worried I get." Lee speaks. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"Of course, I worry. But you’re overreacting. I know you want to keep me safe, but locking me won’t make things better in the future." She says.
"Are you saying we lock you in here?!"
She sighs holding her head, already feeling a migraine again.
"Not in a bad way. I know that there’s a reason for that." She says.
"You think we lock you? We do everything for you to make you happy here. What about your cubs? If you don’t care about us and our opinion, think about if it worths risking your cubs." Wayde speaks.
Her energy automatically grew darker after that, and they felt that instantly. She simply goes silent and tears started to form in her eyes, paralyzing them.
She starts to walk away and they instantly try to follow her, she sprints outside and they grab her to don’t let her fly away.
"Leave me alone." She warns them.
"Astri, we just wanted.." Claud tries to reason things.
"Leave me alone." She repeats.
"No, Astri. Please. Let’s talk." Zin says, in panic to see her mad again at him.
"Talk? You don’t want to talk. Now I don’t want either."
That hit was direct on their hearts.
"So don’t talk. Just don’t go. Please, love." Claud pleads.
She pushes them with wind, releasing her from them. Then she walks back inside and takes Yuki. She calls the boys and they follow her to the bedroom. She hits the door closed and locks it before anyone else gets inside.
Her spouses sit in the living room sighing, gloomy.
"You’re a bunch of idiots. You were attacking her." Tyr speaks.
"We were not attacking her." Lee says.
"Yes. We were. She felt that way. Or else she wouldn’t have cried.." Cyprian sadly speaks remembering her wet face with tears, even though she was angry.
"You said she’s not a good female. You said she’s a bad mother. You attacked her heart directly! I know you worry, but you are five. She’s only one and all of you stepped on her heart. How would she answer anything feeling all of you oppressing her like that?" Tyr angrily says.
They know Tyr is right.
"I know she really doesn’t have many choices. If Nature asked her to do that it’s because is important for the balance of the world... But I don’t want to put her in a danger where we can’t measure." Claud says, rubbing his forehead, knowing he’s wrong.
Wayde is holding his head between his knees, knowing he had hit her with the strongest punch this time.
All of them know they acted wrong. She cried because she felt she couldn’t trust them anymore, that she couldn’t count on them anymore. They fear she’s regretting having them as spouses now.
——
Astri spends the whole day alone in the bedroom with the cubs. She takes care of them by herself, and she accepts only food from them, but before they say anything she closes the door again.
She sleeps alone with the kids too, and after they sleep on her side on the bed, she thinks about what happened. She understands that they worry about her, but didn’t they know that it’s not easy deciding if a whole kingdom will die just because they don’t want to risk her safety?
She didn’t choose to have these powers, but if she has them she wants to try to do her best.
----
On the next day, she brings the cubs to play outside since it stopped raining. Her spouses sit around her and they can sense she doesn’t want them around yet.
"Talk to us, Astri. Please. I’m sorry about what I said. I was just feeling excluded and that made me angry." Wayde pleads.
She doesn’t say anything and goes play with Yuki, lying down in front of her and letting Yuki play with her face. Kai and Elias throw themselves on Astri, rubbing their faces on her and playing poking her hair.
"Astri.." Cyprian and Claud sadly say.
"Just stop. Let’s forget this. I don’t want to talk with any of you about this in front of the cubs." She speaks, and they bite their tongues.
"We want to fix this. Please Astri.." Zin says, trembling, having an inner panic attack.
"That’s all right. You want to protect me. You don’t have to change your mind just because I’m mad. You have the right to feel the way you want. Stop treating me like I make you live in a toxic relationship, like if you don’t have choices or that I make you do what you don’t want or like." She speaks.
"But we don’t want to keep things like this. None of us are happy seeing you mad." Claud says.
"Even more knowing we caused this." Wayde speaks.
She sighs and calls Galion to take care of the children so they don’t listen if they start to fight again.
Leaning on the tree she just waits for them to talk.
"I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have told them anything before you. It might have made things worse." Claud says first.
"You’re important to us. We just felt excluded when you decided things without us." Lee speaks.
"All right. I’m sorry. Let’s move on then?" She says.
"Why are you closing yourself?" Zin asks.
"Shouldn’t I? What difference does it make? What is my voice in front of the five of you?"
They bite their tongues, looking down feeling ashamed of attacking her all at once.
"Your voice is important. I’m sorry we attacked you that way. Even if we were feeling excluded we shouldn’t have treated you that way." Wayde says.
"No one asked me if I wanted to be brought here. No one asked me if I wanted to be who I am. I didn’t choose to be who I am. No one asked me if they could invade my dreams and beg for help. No one asked me if I wanted to live closed in a castle. No one asked me if I needed to decide if hundreds of people should live or die. You didn’t ask me at least once if I wanted guards following me around. You didn’t ask me about many things. But I didn’t get mad at you because I knew you were doing what you believe you needed to do. It’s your duty above anything and I didn’t question anything. I didn’t want a castle, but I know it would be safer and better for all of us, and guess what, now I love this place. I didn’t want guards, and now I have friends. Before meeting you I would do anything I want and go anywhere I want, but now I can’t, and still I’m happy because, even if I don’t have much privacy, you do your best to make me happy." She says.
They quietly and attentively heard her. They have to admit that she’s right and that they don’t know the kind of pressure she lives with.
