Chapter 44: A tour

Chapter 44: A tour

One man and one cat walked down an alley, past an empty street, down the corner, and past another empty street before they stopped in front of a beautiful two-story building. The building was painted in a soft taupe paired with muted olive green, which gave it a cozy and inviting feature to it. Like the home of two lovers about to start a family, or the kind of home where a wealthy person finally discovers what truly matters.

"This is Home." He took out the keys and opened the gate.

There was a parking space just in front of the house but Ravi had no car so he had never used it. Rather, he made it a kind of extra relaxation place where he could drink wine or paint if he wanted to.

Right now, there are two paint containers by the side of the wildflower bush. An empty easel was hung up, Ravi had finished the painting that he had been working on for a few days. There was also a large outdoor sofa that he had gotten at a thrift sale. It was incredibly soft and the moment you sat on it, you would sink so deep, that all your troubles would be forgotten.

"Here is the living room." He opened the door for the cat to pass through, "You are my first guest."

His lips twitched, he really did not have to add that last part, "This is the remote. Touch here to change the channel." What was playing was not appropriate for children, he changed the crime drama to a cartoon, before pausing. Wasn’t it a cartoon for children?

Ravi sighed and took out his phone. freewebnøvel.com

"What kind of movies do 13-year-old children like?" His eyebrows arched up. Nope. Not in this household. He scrolled a bit, before he found a channel and left it there. The cat was very quiet, if not that Ravi knew that there was someone following him, he would not even know that the cat was there.

"Here is the kitchen. I cook and bake here. That was what I was doing before I was called by the vet."

The cat lowered its little head like it was feeling guilty.

At this point, what should he say? Nothing came to his head so he continued, "There is some grilled fish on the table and some rice. We would have that for lunch. I was planning to make a souffle, I would do that later, it should be quite delicious. Look forward to it."

It was odd, talking to himself without expecting any response in the house that had only been silent. But Ravi did not dislike it for some reason.

"Come. Here is the pantry. It is a little empty but I will go shopping tomorrow." He would need to buy some juice boxes and stuff like that. For at least two weeks, in two weeks the little cat should be gone, right? Or a month? Should he buy a month’s worth?

Those cornflower eyes nodded as if they understood, staring quietly at him. There was no light in those eyes, he did not like it, they looked a bit like his hazel eyes, he wished for them to have the same glow as Arlen, like the world is bright and happy. That naive kind of mindset.

He sighed loudly and bent down to pat the cat’s head gently.

"This is the first room." Ravi opened the first room. This room was definitely owned by a music lover. The walls were covered with different faces holding a microphone or a guitar. There was a small band set on the left of the room, possibly for practice. Ravi raised his hand and the room was cleaned.

"This is the second room." The second room was done in softer colors. There was almost nothing that could be said about the person who had this room. When he had come there was only a diary with all the pages ripped out. But the air in the room was more refreshing, probably because it directly faced the orchard.

He touched a stone and it formed two sticks, "Which room do you prefer, the first one or this one."

The cat was quiet and then shook his head. It moved to the window and indicated with his right paw.

Ravi could understand him.

"There are six bedrooms in the house. There is no way I would let you sleep outside. You are sleeping in this room." His tone carried a hint of finality to it. He rubbed his forehead again, he was feeling tired.

Taking out his phone, he checked pictures of the teenagers’ room and changed some structures in the room. He added a swing seat on the left side. A good table and chair. Bookshelf. And some odd climbing structures on the wall.

"Next, the..." He swayed and caught himself on the door. The headache was increasing, this body was really tiring. He needed to ask Alya for help but he did not want to. He needed to rest for a while.

"You need to finish the rest of the tour yourself. You can go anywhere and use anything you like. Except for my room."

The energy in his body started boiling, and Ravi held himself together. His body was just too weak for the amount of power he had, it led to consequences like this. Especially if he exerts himself for a long time, like his power frenzy yesterday.

"Meow." The cat called out, his cornflower eyes fixed on Ravi’s frame.

"I am alright. I just need to rest.

He entered the bedroom and headed to the window. There was a potted plant on the window, its leaves were so red that it looked like blood was about to drip down. He plucked one and threw it into his mouth.’

It was so bitter that his entire body trembled. He took out a small candy bar by the side of the pot and bit into it.

After the bitter taste had abated somewhat, he dragged himself to his bed and fell asleep.
