Chapter 1243: THE END

Chapter 1243: THE END

"Is this working now?"

Everyone was initially surprised, but when they heard Ram’s confused voice, they laughed.

"The red light is on, so yeah."

In the background, everyone heard Joker’s faint voice. Hera instinctively looked around, finally understanding this was Joker’s doing. After all, she didn’t know this would happen tonight.

"Where did he go?" she wondered, unable to see Joker anywhere. "I just saw him earlier."

"He probably shied away because he knew everyone would be grateful for this little surprise," Dominic guessed as he pulled her waist closer. "Let’s watch."

Hera smiled and looked up at the projected screen.

"Oh, here’s the red light," Ram, who had been searching for the red light finally found it. He looked straight at the camera and sat properly.

"Hera promised me that she’d throw a big party once I leave this world," Ram started with a smile. "But... I know her. Asking her not to come to my funeral was a lot and then she had to throw a party right after. I’m no fool to think she wouldn’t be devastated."

Hera’s eyes softened, pressing her lips as she felt this tension rising to her throat. "At least he knows."

"So, I thought before I leave this place, I should leave something else behind." Ram nodded at the camera. He picked up a bottle near his feet, opening it with his teeth. "Let’s have fun together. One last time."

"At this point, Hera probably already finished her toast. Well, that’s what I told Joker," he humored, earning a good laugh from the crowd. "Whatever she said in her toast, I know in my heart I am more grateful to her. I think we can all agree we are all grateful to her."

"She might not like the fact that I’m slowly shifting this party from me to her. But I don’t want this to be about me. I know in your heart that this party is to send me off, but I don’t want to take the chances of a very sad atmosphere," he continued with a short laugh. "To do that, teasing Hera is the best way to divert everyone’s attention."

Another wave of chuckles echoed in the garden. Ram wasn’t wrong, though. Diverting the attention from them to Hera was very effective and easy. Be it within the disbanded reapers or their enemies, using Hera as a diversion always worked.

"I guess we can all agree it’s satisfying to slander her," Moose nodded in agreement. "It’s much better if we do it all together."

"It’s not called bullying if we’re bullying the bully, right?" Gray murmured, only to flinch when Axel glared at him.

Axel quickly pulled Sebastian to his side and then covered the little master’s ears. "Little ancestor, don’t listen to these rogues. Bullying is never okay."

Gray clicked his tongue, but he stopped himself from berating Axel. However, he promised at this second Axel would get what he was looking for later!

"Well, teasing Hera isn’t just satisfying but therapeutic," Tiger shrugged, only to sense a pair of eyes on his side. The moment he locked eyes with Ivy, he sported an innocent face and said, "It’s the truth."

"Give her some slack, Clark," Ivy shook her head, but then, heard everyone buzzing because they all agreed with what Ram said. Her face contorted, looking at Hera apologetically. "Sorry, bestie. But this is a landslide vote."

"So, I thought of a way to make tonight a lively one!" Ram grinned from ear to ear, raising his beer in front. "I make this toast for the life I lived, and also, for everyone who had been a part of it. Every single one of you is a part of me. The Reapers completed me."

Everyone stopped buzzing and quickly raised their glasses. As Ram chugged a mouthful of beer, everyone also took a sip from their glasses.

When Ram hissed in satisfaction, he looked at the camera mischievously. "Hera, don’t be sad today. I prepared something for everyone."

Something for everyone?

Everyone raised their brows, thinking of any gift Ram left for everyone.

"Don’t tell me he left his estate to me?" Moose mumbled, a little hopeful that was the case.

The rest just patiently waited.

"But before that, Bear, Wolf, Tiger, and Moose, please watch my grave. Hera might excavate my body after tonight. Moose, I know you won’t do it, but I actually left you something very valuable. It’s a token of my appreciation for making the last months of my life pain-free as long as possible."

Moose’s eyes twinkled before he saluted stiffly. "Hera will never take a step closer to your grave! I promise!"

What a money-hungry hoe, was what everyone thought at Moose’s quick reaction.

Meanwhile, Hera frowned as she suddenly felt this ominous feeling in her heart. She looked at Dom and said, "Darling, I sensed evil from Ram. Should we end this video before I regret shedding tears for him?"

"I don’t think it’s that bad," Dominic chuckled helplessly. "Ram wouldn’t be so childish, would he? Moreover, what could he say right now that would hurt you?"

Hera pondered about it, but her mind was blank. There was nothing Ram could use to make her want to excavate his body. Trusting Ram wouldn’t be so childish just so as not to make her cry, she shrugged nonchalantly.

However, after just another moment, Hera realized she should’ve listened to her instinct!

"If that’s settled, then let me share that Hera was actually a good actress," Ram smiled. "Please enjoy this movie night with me."

As soon as those words rolled out of his tongue, the clip was replaced by the opening of the movie Hera (when she was in Heaven’s body) participated.

The first clip of the movie was a person’s slender back with a huge tattoo on it. Hera’s mouth fell open as horror slowly dominated her face.

This was the movie that until now, she banned Dominic from watching!

Dominic squinted his eyes and then the next scene showed Heaven’s eyes, nose, and lips. The following sequence was Heaven’s half-body standing beside the bathtub. The camera only showed her back and then the man (Leo) in the bathtub who looked up at her.

"Uh oh." Tiger almost choked on his drink the moment he recognized the movie she played in.

Not just Tiger, but the "uh oh" remark echoed in the garden as they all turned to Dominic. When their gaze landed on Dominic’s frozen figure, everyone instinctively took a step back.

No wonder Joker was missing.

"Stop this right this instance!" Hera panicked as she jumped in front of the projected screen. "Ram, what the hell — Joker!!! Find that guy and drag him back to me — dead or alive."

"Hera..."

Hera’s breath hitched when she heard Dominic’s deep and husky call. "This is why you never want me to watch that movie?"

"Hehe, darling, don’t be mad. That’s just a camera trick! I am very covered there!" she quickly coaxed. "Ram is just doing this, so I don’t cry!"

Sebastian shook his head as he watched his father swiftly take his mother in his arms. "I think they can make baby number three tonight."

Dominic’s face was dark as he carried his wife in his arms. His steps didn’t falter, taking her back inside after telling her, "I’m not going to stop tonight until I erase that memory out of my mind."

Hera’s face turned stiff, looking up at him with a mixture of excitement and horror. She pouted and drew circles on his chest. "Darling, what do you mean you won’t stop...?"

"I’m not pulling out."

"..."

If only she knew she would be rewarded, she would’ve asked him for a movie marathon earlier!

As Dominic took Hera back in and left all their guest, everyone just stared at them blankly. They blinked and blinked, wondering if that was a punishment or a reward.

When Hera and Dominic got inside, the movie was suddenly replaced with Ram.

"Did they go?" he asked, and the crowd nodded as if Ram was there with them. "Then... let’s continue the party."

Ram chuckled as he clicked his beer to the camera, making everyone raise their drinks as a toast.

And the party continued, just like how they would all continue and move on in life.

The somber mood of his death slowly and completely disappeared, replaced with appreciation and gratefulness of life.

So many twists and turns they had gone through all the years. So many funerals they had hosted. Blood, tears, and sweat were shed.

But in the end, life goes on.

And they would all continue to live life to the fullest with all their fallen friends kept safe in their hearts.
