Chapter 16: Goal

Chapter 16 - Goal

-Whistle!

The beautiful landscapes of the countryside came into my view—a blue sky with white clouds stretched across the horizon, the cattle grazed in the planes, and the cattleman walking with them making sure the cattle don't make a run for it. The mountains with snow on their peaks stayed at a distance mingling among the clouds.

I turned my gaze towards the inside of the train, spotting various people on their way to their homes or to visit someone. Chatter echoed in the whole train car, as it moved swiftly on the rail tracks.

Trains in this world were not operated by steam engines—it was, you guessed it, Mana Stones. The trains use the mana stored in the Mana stones and use it as fuel to run the engine.

And Mana stone is a very highly available and affordable resource too, it is mostly mined in dungeons or ruins and sometimes can be crafted through the core of Mana beasts—which are plenty in this world.

And if no beasts—don't worry Mana cores of Criminals can be used too, but just rendering them unable to use mana.

Back to my plan which had succeeded with little problem other than burning the estate garden and saving a side character—everything was going according to my plan, which was good.

And as for the Blitzfeld searching for me, I can just tell Aunt Josephine to keep quiet about me and hide me until the academy begins which is 6 months and 2 weeks from now. Until then I plan to train under Noah's—No, my eldest brother Micheal Von Blitzfeld also known as the Prodigy of The Storm.

Big Brother Micheal or Mic as Noah used to call him, was known as a prodigy who only appeared once in an Era. The reason for that is his Resonance with the Legacy that is bestowed upon him.

Legacy in the world of Elmar can be called 'Divine Inheritance', an essence or fragment of a God's powers given to mortals, allowing the nimble mortals to use their powers. And legacy resonance is the connection of one with their legacy. Which is divided into stages.

After awakening their legacy, the first stage is the Dormant Stage—in this stage the person who had unlocked their cannot directly use its power but can feel it. Also, their element or any other art related to the Legacy gets a boost.

Second is the Intermediate Stage—in this stage, the person can use basic skills gifted by the legacy, and their mana is also amplified.

Third is the Grand Stage, where my loving father is currently at. Here you get more cool and badass abilities.

Fourth, Supreme Stage where Micheal is currently at. Yes, his Resonance is higher than even the Duke of Blitzfeld. That is one hell of a flex.

He might be a Mid Master Mana Core user and a Low Grand Knight Aura Core user—But he still surpassed the Duke himself in Legacy Resonance which you don't normally see even in Geniuses.

His higher Legacy Resonance means that he is more flexible while operating the abilities of his Legacy than our father. He is a bloody Monster.

And the scariest part is that this Monster was actually killed by someone in the war with the Ironvale Kingdom. Who could that someone be? And that is what scares me.

There are monsters in this world who can erase me out of Existence first is the Fiend—That ebony longsword boss and Second is the guy that killed Micheal Von Blitzfeld in the game. And finally, my third concern is Azkarath, the forgotten Continent—where a war of the Divines sparked as stated by my supposed Guardian, Dante.

Whom, I found out was not my system but someone connected to Noah. With all this bullshit going around—I was only a High Apprentice Stage Mage whose Aura core was locked despite being a swordsman and his legacy which had awakened—was still dormant. Fuck!

I am so weak, I lost to this guy's sister who was not the brightest of the generation. Now, think about the adversaries and prodigies I would have to face in the academy. I want to cry but I can't because I am on a train, waiting till I reach my aunt's place to fill those dry wells.

Jokes aside, I seriously have to train, or else whatever God brought me here will just send my soul to Oblivion or I think it will. I don't know, what the Being who brought me wants from me or why I was the one chosen to be in Noah's body.

But one thing is sure as hell clear, I had received a second chance at life—and I won't waste it, even if it meant fighting the protagonist or the Divines itself to preserve my own skin.

'Stats' I thought.

I stared at the blue screen that appeared in front of my eyes with nothing but annoyance and irritation. Like What the hell!? Newly acquired? Is it saying that I am dumb?

[Pfft-] Dante laughed looking at my newly acquired stat.

'Sure, sure, laugh' I retorted.

[Still, it is funny that the system did not even consider you to have any IQ] Dante mocked and continued to laugh in my head.

I could only shed a tear, if not the upcoming dangers then this system and this guide of mine will surely make me mentally insane and urge me to stab myself through the throat.

Ignoring the insult thrown at me for now, I clicked on the plus near Thorvian's Legacy.

"I see," I muttered as I looked at my current legacy. It would've been good if I was a 13-year-old. But at 16, nope I should've at least been Mid Intermediate.

'I have to practice my legacy'

Then my eyes drifted towards the other two legacies—One was Noah's second legacy and the other was mine. But why did I have a legacy? Legacies can only be inherited by blood or by a god giving you his essence. Could the god who brought me here give me his legacy?

[No, the energy resonance of your legacy and the magic that made the soul merger happen are very different] Dante informed me.

"Hmmm," I stroked my chin, "Then what could it be?"

[I don't know but I think don't stress it too much just focus on growing] Dante suggested.

'Yeah but still it is quite uncomfortable you know'

[What is?]

'Getting killed and brought into a new world by some random god,' My eyebrows twitched, 'Then getting insulted by a voice in my head about whom I don't know anything—It might be a demon also'

[Hey, I am not a demon and when the right time comes, you will know about me,] Dante paused but then continued again, [So, for now, please focus on surviving and achieving your Goals]

'My goals?' Surprised I asked.

[Yeah, to get stronger and get revenge on your family]

'Uh yeah, you are right'

My goals. I don't know what my true goal is. Revenge is only a temporary quench of thirst not permanent. What will I do after I take my revenge? Live a normal life at the place where I belong but the question is, where do I belong?

[Ethan?]

'Yeah?'

[No, I was making sure you were alright. You look kinda pale]

'No, I am fine' I said looking at my palms.

'Say, Dante' I began, 'Do you think I belong somewhere?'

[Why the sudden question?]

'Just answer it'

[I don't know—a person can only find that answer after understanding what they want. So let me ask you—What do you want, Ethan?]

'I don't know' I replied, 'I truly don't know what I want'

My fist clenched at the realization that I was someone with no particular goal or ambition. What I am doing now is completely on emotion. That does not mean that I won't take my revenge but it poses the question of What do I, Ethan—Noah, truly want?

My emotions and memories as Ethan tell me to be wary of people and stay away from danger but my emotions and memories as Noah contradict it, by saying to be kind to people and help them in their problems. Noah and Ethan, both souls are different with different views and different emotions.

Why did I react when Ian was being sold off? As Ethan, I should've just ignored him and made my way toward the station as fast as possible. But the Noah in me rebelled and forced me to help Ian, disrupting the Side Quest for Selene.

I did not care about the game's story or any other characters, all that mattered to me, Ethan, was my survival and the survival of the people I truly cared for. But the same was not true for Noah—he wanted to help others.

"Huuuu... My goal, huh?"

|Attention to all passengers, We have now arrived at the Bahnhof of Rasendorf| The speaker on the train buzzed signaling for me to get off.

----------------------------------------------------------------

A/N: Huuuuu, I am tired. Gonna go sleep now. Btw, Bahnhof means train station in German. Peace.
